The chaos

The fight continued.

The one who shot arrows waited for me, pointing his magic bow once again, and started shooting again.
I cut the air in various directions with the movements of my sword.

“Air Ability! Evasive style! Turbulent Flow!!!”

The arrows lost direction, and all went towards the field by the road, away from the battlefield.

“Now…” I said.
My turn to attack!

“Air Ability! Cutting style! Laminar Flow!!!”

I pointed my sword straight at him and made several movements as if I were stabbing the air, pushing the air in its direction like blows. He ran to the side, dodging, while at the same time shooting, clashing with my attacks with his energy arrows, nullifying each other in the middle of the way.

But my attacks were faster and in greater quantity, so some of them hit him, cutting a little bit on the right shoulder, the left waist, and the face last.

Upon realizing this, he would retreat by performing zigzag steps backward and shoot arrows at the same time, until he was out of my sight because of the earth ridge his companion had created before, hiding from my vision, causing my latest blows to hit that wall of earth, carrying dust and leaving everything hidden in the background.

“You’re really fast, you know?”

I saw a face coming out of the ground centimeters from my legs, then from the ground through him a mass of earth arose that hardened, wrapped around my legs, and then tied up my arms. I was completely trapped.
He was the guy who had done the earth technique before.

I couldn’t move my body or destroy it with my Air Ability.
“It’s useless. This is not an ordinary earth Ability,” he said.
I looked down, and he kept talking:

“Terra + Creation, Immobilization of Magic Earth!”

He smiled. “This is a double technique. Having two abilities combined, you won’t be able to do anything. Also, while I’m holding you, my mate will finish it.”

“I understand…” I said. “But if you have two abilities, why didn’t you press me by attacking with your friend?”

“Don’t be an idiot. It’s a basic rule in combat not to reveal all your abilities at first, and we didn’t know if that old man was able to fight when we attacked before. Besides, it became clear that you are very fast…” he said.

Meanwhile, a strong light appeared in front of me. It was the other guy, pointing an arrow at me with a much more powerful energy than before.

“…and face to face, you might even have a chance of winning even with one Ability. This is a two-on-one battle. We don’t need to take so many risks,” he finished talking.

“That wasn’t in our initial plans, but never mind, die,” he said.

The energy arrow was thrown by the other.

At that moment, the energy emanating from the user of the Earth + Creation Ability disappeared. Soon after, the arrow coming towards me disintegrated one meter in front of me and disappeared.

“What?” he said.

I concentrated my energy from the Air Ability, and by using the strength in my body, I broke the masses of earth that held me.

The guy who had held me with the previous technique couldn’t move anymore and was stuck in the ground, unable to manipulate the surrounding earth.
“What’s going on?” he said.

“Huh? Weren’t you the one who said no one should reveal all their abilities so quickly in a battle?”
“No way! That’s…”
"Denial, Denial + Air, to be more exact. I created a two-meter-wide barrier around my body." I looked at the arrow-wielding enemy, who saw me leave unscathed, turned and started running. "Didn’t you consider that I had two abilities like you? Or did you really not consider me a user of the Denial Ability?"

Denial: denies one of the opponent’s abilities that is within reach of his emanated energy.
NOTE: Does not work in techniques involving projections, illusions, or mind control.

“With an Ability like that, you could start with it instead of the Ability of Air and nullify us and dominate the fight from the beginning. Why did you only use it now?” he asked.

“My control of this Ability is currently not even 5%, which is not even considered a basic Ability domain. I can use it if I stay at rest for 15 seconds while I focus, and it only works within a range of 2 meters,” I said.

“Is everything okay?” asked Mr. Bricius, getting up behind the wagon.

"Yes, don’t worry, it’s over. One of them got away," I said, looking away and seeing one of them running, and then looking at the guy stuck on the ground. “And another: I have denied control of the Earth. He can only use the Ability Creation, but trapped inside the ground, he is useless."

I looked at him with a cold face, and he started to get scared and terrified.
“That’s if you don’t have a third Ability, right?” I said, looking at him, crouching down and staring with my face. "Doesn’t seem to be the case, right? So now you’re alone. What do we do with you now?"

At that moment, we heard screams that appeared to be from the other guy.
“Huh?”
I heard the sounds of more birds in the sky flying in our direction, in the opposite direction to that guy who had just run away.

And I said, “What’s that all about?”

What was that?

I felt something in the breeze. Something strange hung in the air, carried on the wind from the horizon to the sunset, the grass, the trees, the birds, and that smell. I knew well what it was, as I could not forget. It was the smell of blood and death.

“What happened?” asked Mr. Bricius.

“He’s coming! We’ve got to get out of here,” I said.
I pulled Mr. Bricius by the arm and started running.
I looked back and could see.
That amount of energy was absurd. It was getting closer.
There was no time to run for three seconds. The crops behind, on the horizon, began to shrivel and darken, with black roses rising in place on the face of the man stuck on the ground, and black roses started growing as he tried to get off the ground, but it was too late. His face and his hands dried up and aged instantly, killing him.
And our fate would be the same. That was too fast.

Denial won’t work. This isn’t a technique I could override. It’s something special and much superior!

"Use Denial! Use Denial!" shouted Bricius.
