Chapter 9:
No Man's Land.
Thunder crashed in the background. Two men stepped from foliage into a scorched patch of dirt. One of them smirked, raising his chin. He was fitted in a classic military attire, a knife in one hand. He had short brown hair, almost ethereal skin, he seemed a bit short. His crimson eyes locked onto the other man. “Didn’t think you’d show up again Gabriel! Ready to get your ass handed to you again?” The other man was clad in steel armor. His head free from a helmet. White primary color, but it has gold colored outlines and symbols, one a spiral with an arrow through it. The armor was weird and inconsistent though, having plenty of gaps and openings. “I am NOT losing again, Michael.”
The air around them seemed to shift, Michael grinned and put one foot behind him as he prepared to take on Gabriel. Knife pointed outward. “HOW FUN!” He dashed forward, kicking off his backfoot. Gabriel stepped to the side and slammed his leg into his side, sending him flying to the side, shattering a tree as he crashed through. Splinters flew through the air as Micheal landed. “Predicatable, you used that to start our last fight!” He huffed in disappointment. Michael slowly stood, groaning, the tree fell on top of him… He caught it! And threw it at Gabriel. Gabriel drew two long swords, a gold one, and a blue one, slicing it directly in half. Behind the tree Michael lunged at him, stabbing him in the neck. “HAH, BLIND ASS!” He kicked one sword out of his hand and flipped over him, slicing more of his shoulder and neck on the way.
Gabriel held his neck scowling at him. His wounds closed fast. “You’re fast- like usual, but… I understand it now!” Gabriel sheathed his blades for a moment, as if expecting Michael to lunge at this opening. Michael appeared from above, wind blowing past both of them, he was much faster than Gabriel anticipated. But it didn’t matter, he was prepared. “HAH! THINK YOU’D GET ME THAT-” He suddenly was cut off. Gabriel drew his blades almost faster than he could react and left him with an X cut on his body! Michael fell and skidded backwards, holding his cut.
“Damn Gabby! You’re getting fast… Fuck…” He coughed some blood, his wounds closing slowly. “I remember when you were just smart and strong! If you get as fast as me- I’m screwed… Especially with that sword of yours…” He scanned the tip again, triangular tips. “You sure know how to slow healing huh!” He exclaimed, seeming amused. Gabriel stayed silent for a moment. “I just want you down…” Was all Gabriel responded with.
Michael drew an additional knife from his boot. “Let me take you seriously now!” His lips twisting into another wide grin. He ducked- almost vanishing from sight with his immense speed. Sweeping Gabriel's legs- he quickly caught himself, but that was only an opening for Michael. He cut his ankle with his second knife, as he stumbled back, Michael slammed his first knife into the opening in his chest plate- right near his heart. “GAFAAAW-” Gabriel coughed blood, falling on his back. Michael let out a mocking scoff. “I win, you're on your back again… Gabriel~” He spoke in a playful tone. He stood, brushing himself off. “We will meet again!”
“Twice… Beaten by this unbelievable buffon… twice…” Gabriel slowly healed, standing. “I need time to think about this… You’re right, we will meet again. May your woes be many, and days be few…” Gabriel walked out of the battlefield, limping slightly.
