Chapter 5:

A quiet talk

Caoimhe (PRECIOUS)

Master Ram passed the skewered meat to Noel, “Save your strength for another day. Noraa is a strong, brave girl and she knows well that her big sister will find the cure.” Noel just held the wooden skewer unwilling to take a bit, and she stared at the flames in the fire pit. Master Ram sighed after taking one bit.

“Whatever happened, it was not your fault. Your father wanted to protect both of you, and the best course of action was to take you all out of the Capital without anybody realizing that the royals are gone. It was only a premeasurement just in case if your father didn’t return from the mission with King of Weapons then the best place was to stay hidden on north side of Astaroth”, Master Ram chug a big mouth full of wine to wash down the meat as he looked at Noel’s facial expression.

“If only I didn’t have to return to the Capital in a hurry without devising a plan, nobody will dare to target you girls so if you want to blame somebody. It should be me Princess Noel, I should be the one to take the blame for my carelessness, leaving my post even your father told me to always be by your side”, Master Ram cried as he expressed his sorrow face “When I returned, I could not believe my ears that somebody would dare to assassinate the royals. But that also prove words got out that your father failed his mission and now everyone has the bravery to sneak attack us”

“True, but since no corpse was presented. My father would be consider as missing instead of dead”, said Noel as she looked in Ram’s direction. “There may be a chance he could be still alive”

“Of course. You could be right princess. But first we need a strong core to cure your sister before we can go searching for your father. That’s our priority and for us to succeed, you must eat princess”, Master Ram pleaded as he stared back at Noel where she slowly began to eat.

“Don’t worry too much, Aroc’s team and Roht’s team are still searching for their lord as we speak. Any news and they will quickly inform us”, the last part of the sentence reassured Noel as she took another bite and grabbed Ram’s flask of wine and took a big sip. Master Ram didn’t stop her but just watched her until she returned the half empty flask back.

“Maybe we should start searching near that strange rune that we came across the other day”, Noel said as she finished her meal, “I have a strange feeling we might find something there”. Master Ram gave a sigh and a nod, “As you wish, princess. We will set out once we secure a safe camp nearby. We need to find a safe spot from those monsters around there”.

Princess Noel gave a slight nod as she extended her hands out, trying to feel the heat from the fire pit as the night was slowly getting colder. “You rest first, princess. I will take the first shift to be on guard”, Master Ram said as he threw another log into the pit.
