Portal

A group of cat-like monsters with thick hides were all lying on the muddy ground. In the middle of these defeated rank-C monsters were left with two people remaining standing as they each panting hard.

“It seems that our cloak cannot cover our scent against these creatures. They have a very strong keen sense of smell”, Master Ram slowly relaxed as he cracked a few joints, “Luckily this was a small group otherwise we would be in serious danger”. Master Ram turned to look at Noel’s direction only to see she was at a frozen position, breathing heavily.

“Princess Noel, are you hurt?” Master Ram quickly rushed towards her. 

Master Ram went up to her and tapped her shoulder and immediately she dropped on her knees. Within a few seconds, she vomited because she was so scared and panicked with the mass number of monsters she had to encounter for the first time. Under Master Ram’s guidance, Noel would only attack a single monster each time, and max was two monsters, and anything more was too much for her.

After Noel finished vomiting, she regained her posture and uttered a reply, “I’m fine now”. Master Ram was relieved that Noel managed to keep her head cool while the monster ambushed them. “Still, it’s not safe hanging around here. We must leave quickly” Master Ram reached for Noel’s arm and pulled her up and after taking a few steps, they heard a whirling sound.

They looked back behind their shoulders and noticed that the strange rune was a portal that was inactive a moment ago and was now making strange sounds. The small symbols on the rune began to glow, one by one starting from the bottom and reaching the top and reaching back down on the other end. Master Ram grabbed Noel by the waist and immediately made a giant leap with his remaining strength. They immediately ducked behind some rocks, just enough to hide the two of them. “Do you think more monsters are coming through that portal master?” Noel asked as she slowly peeked at the portal.

“To be honest, princess. I don’t know. I never knew that the portals around Astaroth and Baal are active at all. This is my first time in my lifetime that I witness this strange view”, Master Ram also took a peep as he saw a figure passing through. He kept watching as more figures appeared with weapons in their hands.

Before they could figure out who came through the now active portal, the snarling noise of the monsters that they once fought could be heard from afar. “Another batch of those monsters again, stay still princess” as Master Ram gestured at Noel. Soon those cat-like monsters were slowly crawling up to the mysterious group of people coming out from the portal.
