CHAPTER 4.4: K.I.D.: THE SPARK — ADEUILIN

[08:00] 05.01.2090

Central city Enderil,

Airanril Kingdom,

Continent of Elvland,

2100Km to the Southeast of JUSM

<Trade secrets huh... Well then, I won't pry further... for now. But Dr.Hexdl, there are some wild rumors going around too, are you aware?>

<I get to keep my secrets ha ha... wild rumors...?? Could you explain a little?>

<Like, the simultaneous earthquakes which happened a few days ago, are a result of testing the JUSM tower? What can you say about it?>

<As far as i know, those Earthquakes happened due to natural causes. I can confidently say that the JUSM tower or anything related to it, has nothing to with it.>

A holographic screen floated a few inches over the table. Below it, was a small white cube with two speaker holes on the sides. On top of a glossy table made out entirely of wood. From below the cube, a neon light shot out and divided into multiple lines. A few inches away from it, a keyboard with a track pad formed on the orky wood table.

On the holographic screen, the title, "LIVE INTERVIEW: FOR THOSE WHO COULDN'T PARTICIPATE" could be seen in bold letters.

"All these years and humans still haven't learned from their mistakes..." Muttered a tall elf looking outside the window.

His straight silver hair reaching the end of his spine. His long ears intruding out like daggers. A face without imperfections like a painting in disguise. Silver eyes burning brighter than gold. And on top of the silky smooth hair, rested a silver crown with precious gem of vivid colors, embedded in it.

Straight ahead from the window, a giant blue tower could be seen. The peak of the tower, invisible even to the naked eye of an elf. The top passed the pale clouds and disappeared above the vast sky. However a faint radiance was casted from it. They passed the sky, like immature sunrays and shone slightly under the clouds.

"Your majesty, breakfast is ready..... But..." A maid knocked and declared without entering. However she stopped mid sentence.

"I'm coming...." The king replied, and sighed before continuing. "Are they with the third princess again??"

"Yes your Majesty.." she answered honestly.

The king stormed out and went directly to the third princesse's room. His white robe danced along which each step he took. The light brown haired maid followed but was soon stopped by the king saying he'll handle it.

"...tch..."

"What was that?" The king asked the maid about the sudden noise he heard. He didn't hear it completely but he definitely heard something.

The maid assured that she didn't hear anything so the king continued his march. However the maid knew exactly what it was. She was the origin of it afterall.

'Damn...these full elves really do hear anything...what the hell....' She thought as she went to complete her other duties.

The king reached the third princess's room. Even before opening, he could hear multiple voices and giggles echoing through the door. He stormed inside with a serious face.

"Okay now, that's enough!!! Everybody out!!", he demanded.

"Ehh... but she just woke up.... let us be with her a little more... come on father!!" Demanded the eldest prince. Next in line to the elven throne. Silver eyes and hair. Same as his father's. Also known as the crown prince. Who, was giving the third princess a piggy back ride.

"Yeah, go away, go away!!" doubled down the second princess. The current advisor of the royal court. She was chasing the crown prince and the third princess on all fours. Her silky smooth hair was cut short, barely passing her neck. Yet compared with her silver eyes and petite figure, she looked almost as a myth.

"My king, but i still need to do her hair and get her dressed..." exclaimed the elven queen. "We'll come eat as soon as we finish" continued as she watched the heirs of the elven kingdom playing on the floor.

Even while sitting, her silver hair looked full. Her silver eyes glistened like jewels. And her white V-Cut dress, full with regal elegance.

"There are maids and servants for that, we are the royal family.... behave like one please...." The king sighed with exhaustion. But his words didn't reach them.

The third princess turned her head and saw the king standing near the door. She rolled down from her brother's back and ran towards him. Raised her hands with a bright smile and looked at her father. Innocent and ignorant. Like a flower that just bloomed.

"Adeu... what am i to do with you and those doll like eyes!!", he raised her up into his arms and hugged her. "Only for a bit okay... and then we will go eat, okay,?" He sighed and gave her a playful smile.

"Even you can't resist her cuteness father and yet you blame us... it's unfair you know!!" Laughed the second princess while getting up and unwrinkling her clothes.

"Father! father! shoulder ride! shoulder ride!!" Little Adeuilin demanded while trying to climb up to her father's shoulders.

"Ok, ok, but only for a little bit okay!!" The king helped little Adeuilin to get comfy on his shoulders and reached towards the door.

"My king, wait!! You can't take Adeu outside looking like that! Let me dress her and comb her first!" The queen quickly stood up and reached the king. Her silver hair longer even than the king's. Passing even her knees, danced through the air.

She picked up Adeu from her father's shoulders. Although little Adeu struggled and didn't want to, her mother's sweet voice calmed her. She brought her near the dressing table. The king resigned and said softly.

"Sorry Adeu, I'll give you one later okay..." He stretched his shoulders and winked at Adeu, confirming his promise.

"Okay now, everybody out, i need to get her ready!!" The queen shooed everyone out. Her long white sleeves danced as waves of the ocean as she signaled them out.

Everybody left. Although the king managed to sneek in a one last comment on how royal princess are supposed to behave. Just then, a terrible shiver ran down the elven king's neck. The queen's cold glance made the king leave without any additions.

The second princess openly expressed her disdain for kicking her out, even though she was a girl. The queen was totally unbothered by her second daughter's tantrum. The queen simply replied that she too, as the advisor of the royal court, has work to do.

"Right right... I'm leaving... for now you hear.." The sound of the door slamming could be heard as she left. Accompanied with a muttering of some words which even the elven ears couldn't hear.

"Oh dear... the next king, and his advisor becomes totally factuated when you're around. What am i to do with them... it contaminated the king too... aha ha... well i was first one so i don't have room to criticize others..." The queen mumbled while taking off Adeu's clothes.

Adeu’s little nightgown came off in one fell swoop, sliding away like silk. Her small body seemed to glow from within, entirely without any imperfections. She was wrapped in the fairest and richest of alabaster skins.

A complexion completely unseen and unheard of before. Something that not even her own mother, the current queen had. Who was considered the most beautiful in the whole realm too.

The queen then proceeded to throughly clean and dress the little princess. All while struggling against the mesmerizing effect of her body.

The white little dress had frills starting from the waist and all the way down. Both sleeves were no exception either. And one last final layer of frills around her neck. The perfect doll dress. Contrasting, or rather sparkling against the white, her silver hair flowed down like the most beautiful, enchanted waterfall.

"So.. my little cute princess, what hairstyle do you want today?" The queen after sat infront of the huge dressing table. She took Adeu to her lap and asked softly with a bright smile.

"Mother, how about the one where you take braided ones together and make a big one.... like that one girl from tv!!! Please??" Adeu suggested with sparkly eyes and a cute, irresistible smile.

The queen's smile diminished. It was as if she was held at gunpoint with no correct answer. She wanted whole heartedly to style Adeu's beautiful hair as Adeu wants. And she too loved to.

But she was a royal princess at the end of the day. An overly exaggerated style would reflect poorly on the royal family as elegance and regal conduct was always expected from them.

"That one is a little... well you don't attend the royal court so might as well... but still you wander the palace sometimes so... and your father wants you to look as a princess too... but deep down he would be the one, who's most happy to see you in cute hairstyles too.....ah...what do i do..." After contemplating a while and mumbling a lot, she came to a conclusion.

In the meantime, Little Adeu sat on her mother's lap the whole time listening to her mumbling. She face emitting a cute smile and her little mouth humming along a tune.

"I got it.. let's do some braids but instead tying them into a big one, we'll let them flow down from the back... What do you think my dear?" The queen asked little Adeu while she got ready a set of combs and other accessories.

"Okay mother...I like it.." Little Adeu accepted her mother's suggestion very easily. She didn't know if it would look good. But she knew her mother wouldn't make her look bad.

What the third princess didn't know, however, was that making her look bad was quite literally impossible. Even with messy bedhead, she remained flawlessness personified. An ethereal sight to any species or gender alike.

"I love you!! You're they're best" Shouted Adeu while putting her little hands up to further confirm her readiness.

"Me too my dear!!" Replied the queen and started combing her hair.

First, she used a head massager to loosen up her scalp. Next she used a few drops of Argan oil and started combing. After a few minutes of repeating this cycle she took a black device and placed below her scalp. The device then divided her glistering sliver hair into multiple equal parts for braiding. Finally, she braided them together and clipped an ancient looking barrette from behind.

"All done, do you like it?" Putting back the devices and combs, the queen asked little Adeu. With a bright smile of proudness. Both for her work and the absolute cuteness of her daughter.

"I love it mother, thank you very much!!" Replied little Adeu while admiring herself in the huge mirror. Her newly braided strands, adding a new glow to her already glowing hair.

"Ok then, now let's go eat.. your father and siblings must be waiting... it's rude to keep them waiting any longer.." The queen stood up and took Adeu into her arms.

"Yes mother..." Adeu simply accepted the ride and opened her arms to embrace her kind and gentle mother.

☆☆☆☆

The footsteps of the queen with added weight, echoed through the wide and long hallway. Gradually the echo vanished and the silhouette of the queen and Adeu could be seen from the dinning hall.

"Oh, look who's here!!" The elven king declared with a great smile. At the same time, the elven royal siblings turned their heads to look at their little sister.

Little Adeu quickly climbed off her mother and ran into the dinning hall. Without wasting any time, she asked her most important question.

"Father, big brother, big sister, how do i look, am i cute?" Adeu asked with a bright smile. Eager to get their responses.

"Absolutely!!" Big brother responded.

"Very much but not as cute as me unfortunately ha ha" Big sister let out a confirmation alongside a little joke.

"The cutest in the realm!!" Father proudly declared.

"Now come and sit, let's eat..." The king added, pointing to the queen's and the third princesse's seats.

The oval shaped big wooden table was filled with various dishes. Yet no fruits were displayed. The royal family could get some but they was used only for special occasions.

The bright white chandelier, way above the table illuminated the whole room. As if crystals were being illuminated. Actually they were. A rare type of white crystals only found in the Elvland. Passing a little current through them, they shone brightly than flashlights.

"Well then, let's pray...." Everybody interlocked their fingers and closed their eyes. The king continued, "Oh great goddess ORILYE, we pray for thee and thank thee for bestowing such benevolence upon us!!Please continue to watch over thy lowly servants!!"

As the prayer finished, everybody opened their eyes and started eating. However before their first bite a sweet voice filled the room.

""I love you all... I want to stay like this with you all forever!!" Adeu declared. She was happy by the affection she gets everyday and wanted to reciprocate as well as she could and understood.

She knew it was possible. She genuinely thought it's possible. She overheard several times the servants and maids talking about how the third princess won't play a part in the court of how elves live for a very long time. So her little mind came to the most natural conclusion. The most natural conclusion of a pampered and sheltered princess, that is.

Everyone smiled. They all confirmed with words and facial expressions. They knew it was possible too. Even if the world was what it was, they still were royalty. Royalty of one of the most developed and advanced continents at that.

The breakfast continued to the sound of laughs and small talks, while the hall echoed with them.

As long as the world didn't end, they would be together. It was a thought everyone had. But they forgot one little detail. Even if they were nigh immortal, they weren't indestructible.

"Adeu... oh dear, look at you... you are spelling everywhere... come here, let mother feed you..." The elven queen pulled Adeu's chair closer to her and took her spoon.

"Hey... that's not fair.... we want to feed her too." Pitched in the first prince and the second princess.

'Hey... me too!!' The elven king thought loudly yet he held back from actually speaking aloud.

Adeu took her spoon back, "I didn't spill... i know how to eat.... I'm already eight years old..." However as nobody took her seriously, she doubled down with, "i swear i didn't spill!!"

She didn't mind been spoiled and taken care of. However, maybe due to her royal elven blood, or something completely different, she didn't like lies. In her pure and innocent heart, there was righteousness mixed in.

Despite her honesty, no one took her seriously. Not until it happened to them too.

The ground shook. The plates fell off the table. The cups and cutlery too. The liquids spilled everywhere while the solids dispersed all over. And then, the ground shook again. Violently.
