Chapter 13:
Caoimhe (PRECIOUS)
“Do you think it’s wise to let him go alone. We will not be able to aid him if he is in danger” asked Princess Noel as she looked at the portal’s power slowly fading away. Master Ram could see her teary eyes but shook his head and stroked his beard as he slowly walked away.
“He needs to do this alone if he wants to take the path as a noble warrior. Dealing with Lord Redgor’s Evo-Beasts would not be easy, and the path will be more difficult for him after he returns from Holy-Land. If he does succeed, then our chances of defeating Lord Redgor’s Evo-Beast would be much higher. He may even have a chance to defeat Lord Redgor, himself. But if you really have affection for Arim, then you should let him grow as the man that you want him to be. A strong protector by your side”, Master Ram chuckled as he kept walking, not turning back to see Princess Noel’s facial expression.
Of course, she was blushing like a red tomato after the last few words by Master Ram. Luckily her master didn't look back at her and kept quiet strolling back to their camp. That night, Princess Noel finished cooking as they quietly finished their meal. Not long after, Master Ram sighed looking at Princess Noel, “Princess, it’s time to put Arim aside and focus back on our mission. I believe it’s time to make a trip to the East Port and gather some intel. Also, we’re running low on food and alcohol in our inventory. Would be convenience to stocking up some supplies while we are there too”
“Of course, master. I will pack up for the journey in the morning”, replied by Noel and after a few quiet moments of thinking, she decided to ask Master Ram, “I’m curious how did you know that Arim will return to his home through the portal? There could be many portals around the world of Vesa and he could end up at another place?”
Princess Noel poured hot tea into the wooden cup with no handles as Master Ram stroked his beard again. He took a sip before he replied to Noel’s question.
“It’s because I went through it myself”
Princess Noel was shocked at the answer she got, but Master Ram continued, “Remember the time we went back to the portal after Arim woke up and we decided to search for any survivors? It just happened that I was at the portal when a saw a pink core rolling on the ground and suddenly disappeared after touching the frame. Of course, that core colour belongs to Arim’s dead comrades, and it strikes me with an idea. A few months ago, I took a few of those pinks cores and tested my theory that night. It works, like I thought and decided to pass the doorway of that silver wavy liquid. With Arim’s story about the location of the portal on the other side, I was sure that I was at the portal of the Holy-Land. I didn’t wander off too far; afraid the portal might close soon. So, I took a quick glance of the jungle before I quickly returned. However, I kept it quiet about it and wanted to see if luck was on Arim side. How long will it take for Arim to figure the out the way to activate the portal? Days? Months? Years? Would there be a miracle for Arim to find a way to return home or not?” Master Ram paused as he looked at Princess Noel staring at him with disbelief. “Then the day that both of you came to me about finding a way for Arim to return home. How luckily can he be, to return at a such crucial time back to Holy-Land. A great timing to test his potential after so many months of training and I’m sure that once he takes the title as champion, he will return to us. Having Arim on our side, we could possibly take the core we need us from Lord Redgor and his Evo-beasts without too much trouble”.
“So, for Arim to return to us, he would need cores from this land then?” asked Princess Noel in a concerning tone as she knew Arim didn’t pack any cores from Baal.
But Master Ram saw Princess Noel’s worrying expression and reassured her, “I left a box with cores and a letter on how to activate the portal inside his bag. He will know once he settled down back home. No need to worry princess”
Princess Noel exhaled in relief and she relaxed her body. She was grateful that Master Ram had planned the whole thing and surely, she would get to see Arim again. Slowly, she walked outside the cave to get some fresh air and naturally looked up to the clear sky with a bright half crescent moon of Baal. A weak breeze of wind continued blowing her purple long hair as her mind began to wander, wishing that Arim would become the champion and return to her soon.
“I wonder are you staring at the moon tonight just like I am right now”, she talked to herself as she clenched her hand up to her chest. She could feel her heart was beating fast as she re-captivated the time they had spent in Baal together, the adventure of monsters they encountered and the training they endured during the two years. Now she felt something missing and she couldn’t shake away that feeling.
Noel missed Arim.
