Chapter 71:

Broken Wings

The Creature Hunter: Soul Of The Wind

(Ten Minutes Ago)

The situation in the war began to reverse for everyone. At the beginning of the battle, the creature hunters that were writhing in pain and barely surviving were now fighting hard and pushing back the enemy forces. They were taking advantage as the war continued.

But, of course, there were people who would try to reverse this situation once again.

As the battle continued, one of the Orwells, Orpheus, was fighting with Neresu Poteus. He was patrolling in the sky and was observing his enemy. And he was looking for an open spot of his to attack him, but Neresu watched Orpheus closely as he flew and got in a defensive position in order to protect himself from any incoming attack.

Orpheus then said to himself,

*He looks like he has a plan. I must find an open spot.*

And after flying for a couple of seconds, he changed his rotation towards him and said,

*Righ there!*

He didn't know why especially stood there and watched him, but to move him out of the way, he came up with a plan and was about to use it. He was going to fly towards him and was going to hit his heart since he was unaware of what he had in mind.

So he flew towards him at a very high speed and aimed for his heart.

But even though he was coming towards him, Neresu didn't move an inch.

*So he didn't realize yet.* said Orpheus as he got faster.

But this still made Orpheus a little bit confused. They had fought all this time, but Neresu didn't look tired at all. He just stood there without doing anything and waited for him to come towards him.

But Orpheus didn't give up on his plan anyway. He quickly flew past him and hit him.

And he thought it was over.

But something was odd, even though he hit him. He didn't have blood in his hand. Instead, it got wet. Why did it happen like that? Didn't he hit him?

He then turned his head and realized that it was a water clone to distract enemies. So he quickly looked around for him to find the real one but didn't saw him. He was getting more confused, angry, and scared by the situation.

This was getting weirder until he heard,

"Did you miss something?"

It was Neresu Poteus. But this time it was the real one.

As he saw him, Orpheus stood up and said with a serious expression,

"You've already figured out my strategies on the battlefield. So I think I need to try something else."

"It's not the strategies you've used so far, it's how you've used them. If you continue to use them in such a hurry, you will have no advantage." said Neresu as he pointed his spear towards him.

What he said was kind of true, and the advantage was in his hands at that time.

But there was one thing he didn't notice.

At the beginning of the war, when he was in a difficult situation, Orpheus began to con a clone, sent him around the battlefield, and waited all this time for him to make a secret attack, so he would catch Neresu off guard.

And at the time, he saw his clone was flying behind Neresu and waiting for an order. So Orpheus thought that he had the advantage and slowly started to talk to him.

He said,

"I have lost in previous battles and made many dumb mistakes. But I have to say. I can't let Mr. Nuzuki's effort go away like this!"

After he said that, he jumped towards Neresu and tried to attack him. But just as Neresu took a defensive position once more and tried to protect himself, Orpheus, the one in front of him, turned into thin air and disappeared.

It was a clone.

All this time, Orpheus had actually sent his real copy to the other side of the war and fought Neresu with his clone. So he observed him well and looked for his weak points according to his moves. And he had finally caught him off guard.

But this much rushing his actions, cost him big time.

Even though he was an inch away to hit Neresu, his snakes got him in the air and electrocuted him.

This burned his entire body and made him unable to move. And while his body was falling, his other snake bit his head and ripped it out of his body.

On the other hand, Valdis was just fighting like Neresu. And he was fighting with the Orwell, Achilles.

Their fight was quite advanced, and they both dealt heavy blows to each other. Achilles's over-rapid attacks and defensive strategies made Valdis powerless. But it was to his advantage that Valdis survived every blow he received and recovered after all.

And after a while of their fighting, Valdis had used his black magic and took out black wings from his back. His wings were the same size as Achilles's, but the Dark magic energy it emitted could be felt even from afar.

He even opened his arms and said with an egoistic look on his face,

"What happened? You didn't expect this to happen, did you?"

Achilles replied with a serious manner,

"Your tricks won't fool me."

Valdis then added with a deadly expression,

"Pity. Because you won't be the only bird flying in the sky anymore."

After Valdis said that, he gained speed using his wings and landed a solid elbow blow to Achilles's chest. Then he used his snake and hit him on the ground. And just as he was about to attack back, he threw him in the air and flew towards him.

Then he hit Achilles's face with his knee at full speed. This made him unable to move for a couple of seconds so Valdis shouted,

"Got you!"

And sent him to the ground by kicking his stomach.

After Valdis once again landed on the ground slowly, he grinned widely and said,

"These things are really useful and fun. I think I'll use them a little more."

But as he said that, Achilles slowly stood up and said,

"Don't be happy. Because you will never ever use them again."

He then flew towards Valdis at a moment he was distracted and stuck his both arms in each side of his belly, making him completely unable to move.

At first, Valdis stood there calm and confused and said,

"Hey what are you doing there? Didn't I tell you these don't hurt?"

Achilles slowly lifted his head and said with a serious manner,

"I know that. But I know something that could hurt someone like you."

Achilles then began to use his destruction spell. It slowly covered from his hands to his wrists and slowly moved towards Valdis. It was increasingly working its way into Valdis's veins and slowly destroyed his body.

He then said,

"Maybe your cells are healing fast and don't take damage that much. But when I root you out, your presence will disappear."

The expression of Valdis's changed immediately. His egoistic look on his face and the grin that he had, disappeared like it never appeared. He was now looking at Achilles with fear in his eyes.

He then said with a nervous and a loud voice,

"Hey, what are you doing! Get your arms out now!"

But Achilles didn't listen. He just stood there, injecting his spell into Valdis.

The situation was getting worse for him and he was panicking about what to do.

So he finally decided to pierce through Achilles's chest.

But Achilles looked at him as nothing happened and said,

"Your useless tactics won't work."

Then Valdis grinned widely once more and said,

"That was not what I was aiming for anyway."

He then used his other arm, grabbed Achilles's hair, and ripped his head from his chest. His sneakiness saved him once again.

And the last one who fought an Orwell was Nijimura Rai.

She had fought with Neo for over ten minutes and now they were both looking at each other and gasping for air.

While they were staring at each other, Rai grinned and said,

"The ability you have there is truly annoying. You might be one of the hardest enemy that I have tried to defeat so far."

Neo smiled back and replied,

"That is truly wonderful to he-"

"But I'm kinda bored. And I don't want to waste my time here anymore." Rai said while interrupting Neo.

She then added,

"That is why I have to finish this, as quick as I can."

Neo replied again, while still smiling,

"I had the same idea. Then it would be better for us to do our best, wouldn't it?"

During the time they looked at each other, Rai suddenly began to move excessively quickly and began to drop bolts of Lightning on herself. This was confusing for Neo at first, but after doing this for half a minute. Rai finally stood in front of him and looked at him.

Because of lightning falling on Rai, her body was covered with electric currents and she was moving faster than before. Her presence was moving as if she had crossed the wall of sound and destroyed the wall of image. And because of her speed, she looked as if she was teleporting to the human eye.

Neo thought to himself,

*So she is using one of her other abilities to beat me? It is a shame for her to not understand that she can't get away just like that. But let's see, maybe we can have more fun than we think.*

But as he was thinking like that, Rai moved so fast that he couldn't even see that she got behind her.

She then grinned and said,

"Maybe this tactic looks useless to you. But I told you before, didn't I?"

She added while she cut his head off,

"That I was the fastest creature hunter!"

Neo's head flew all over the way and landed on the ground.

And after Rai landed, she put her swords on their hilts, quickly got her stuff, and got away from there.

Their battle was over before it started and Rai had finally won.

And the war was quickly coming to an end.
