Chapter 15:

Curve 15. Medicine; Tetraktys Triangle Hand Sign, The Gate of Aecte and Aecte Arts

Agnesi the Witch and the Quietus Cloud

It didn't take long for Agnesi Maria Caetana and Rami Ramiro Raminelli to begin their lessons. In the afternoon, after saying goodbye to her younger sister and parents in the morning, Agnesi immediately began her lessons. This session was held in the private library.

Agnesi sat at a large table, while Rami sat across from her, facing her. A maid stood nearby to assist with any needs. Beside the maid's chair was a table with various drinks and food.

The afternoon's lesson began with a written test. Agnesi had to answer questions posed by Rami. The written test was conducted so that Rami could establish a baseline for assessing the extent of the eight-year-old's theoretical knowledge.

Rami watched Agnesi answer the questions he gave her very quickly. He thought to himself, "It seems Miss Caetana doesn't need time to think about the answers to each question I ask; she seems to be able to answer them spontaneously. She can also write long essays without much thought to answer my essay questions."

While Agnesi wrote, Rami continued to think to himself, “I’ve already glanced at the answers. I can see at a glance that both her short-answer and the multiple-choice answers are correct, and I can conclude that her answers weren’t just random guesses she made simply because of the principle ‘I don’t like doing this test; I’ll just do it randomly to get it done quickly.’”

Rami also concluded in his mind, "I can also conclude that her answers to essay questions are not answers that are written carelessly, not answers that are written with the principle 'the important thing is that the essay I wrote looks long.'"

Rami commented to himself silently, "This is the first time I've witnessed with my own eyes what Old Man Nuvolo said about Miss Caetana being a prodigy. What the Old Man said was true, so it's no wonder he resigned from his job as Miss Caetana's private tutor."

Afterward, Rami verbally expressed his thoughts to Agnesi. He said, expressing praise, "I've read the written answers Miss Caetana provided yesterday. They're all correct, and if there are any mistakes, they're just minor typos. Good work, Miss Caetana."

Agnesi smiled and said, “Thank you, Mr. Raminelli."

Rami said, “Okay, Miss Caetana, let's start Aecte Arts practice.”

Agnesi replied, “Wait a minute, Mr. Raminelli. I have a request.”

“What is that?” asked Rami.

The next morning, the day after Agnesi took Rami's written tests, Rami declared that Agnesi had swept his written questions without a single wrong answer. This time, Rami's lesson no longer required Agnesi to respond with ink but with her Aecte and Aecte Arts.

Around seven o'clock, Agnesi and Rami were standing in the backyard of the Caetana family's Como home. Just as during the written test yesterday afternoon, a maid was standing by. This time, she was sitting in a chair on the back porch.

Just like yesterday, next to the maid was a table with drinking water, beverages, and various foods. However, this time, there were items on the table. These items were various first aid supplies for any incidents during Agnesi's training.

Rami had examined the various medications on the table, including liquids, topicals, chewables, and other forms of medication. The Orolico member had ensured that the medications were sufficient to deal with any potential incidents. Rami had also ensured that the medications were still safe to use and had not passed their expiration dates.

In this world, especially in developed regions like the German Empire, drug manufacturers have attempted to include both the manufacturing date and the estimated expiration date. However, because adding such information increases production costs, most such drugs are only intended for wealthy consumers.

Drug information can be provided by tying paper to the bottle, creating a second layer of packaging with drug information inside, and so on. Manufacturing information should include the date, month, and year the drug was packaged. Estimated expiration information should be presented in month and year format.

Currently, several of these high-end medicines were not only on the table beside the maid but also strapped to Agnesi's belt. This was something Agnesi herself had requested. Initially, Rami would train and assess Agnesi's ability to practice Aecte Arts in the most comfortable clothing possible.

But it was Agnesi herself who requested this. She said, "Please allow me to practice with some of the drugs involved, because that's how it is in the real world."

Rami granted his prodigy student's request. Afterward, it was Agnesi's turn to do what he asked. He asked Agnesi to stand at a certain point, making her face a target board he had set up.

Rami said, “Okay, Miss Caetena. First, let me see how you perform basic Aecte Arts. Try creating an Aecte Arts manifestation that targets this straw target board.”

“Okay, Mr. Raminelli,” Agnesi responded.

Agnesi immediately moved both hands. Her two index fingers formed an upward slant in opposite directions, with the tips of the index fingers meeting at the top. The movement of Agnesi's right and left index fingers formed the upper point of a triangle, or “/\."

Meanwhile, Agnesi's right index finger formed a horizontal line. Simultaneously, three fingers of her left hand formed three horizontal lines below the horizontal line of her right index finger. The three fingers of Agnesi's left hand involved in this movement were her middle finger, ring finger, and little finger.

These movements caused Agnesi's hands to form the shape "/\" with four horizontal lines underneath. This shape, combined with the backs of Agnesi's palms, created an equilateral triangle with four levels or four lines. The triangle with four horizontal lines formed by Agnesi’s hands served as a symbol of the "Tetraktys."

The Tetraktys, in the Pythagorean tradition, is an equilateral triangle with four levels, each with ten points. The top level has one point. The second, third, and fourth levels have two, three, and four points, respectively.

According to the Pythagorean Order tradition, the four levels of the Tetraktys symbolize the four elements that form the universe while also symbolizing the development of the dimensions of reality from formlessness to three-dimensional physicality.

The first level, the highest level of a Tetraktys, consists of a single point. Symbolizing Fire, which uses a single principle and illumination. A single point also symbolizes the "Monad" or "Dot," the symbol of the beginning of all things, and the symbol of the 0th dimension.

The second level consists of two dots. Symbolizing Air, which uses expansion and polarity. Two dots also represent the "Dyad" or "Line," a symbol of the relationship between points and the first dimension.

The third level consists of three dots. Symbolizing Water, which uses the principles of flow and surface. Three dots also represent the "Triad" or "Plane," a symbol of surface and a symbol of the second dimension.

The fourth level consists of four dots. Symbolizing Earth, which uses the principles of density and physical stability. The four points also represent the "Tetrad" or "Space/Tetrahedron," a symbol of solid form and the third dimension.

The Tetraktys hand symbol is the sign that a Magoi is about to activate their Aecte and perform an Aecte Art. A high-level Magoi may not need to form the hand symbol but simply "think Tetraktys."

Although Agnesi is a talented Magoi, she is still a beginner and still needs to hone her skills. She is not yet a high-level Magoi who can perform Aecte Arts without forming the Tetraktys hand symbol.

Now that Agnesi had formed her Tetraktys, she could manifest her Aecte. She thought about creating a tubular manifestation of the fire elemental Aecte that would launch toward the target board in front of her. Like an Epodoi, Agnesi shouted, "Fire!"

Suddenly, a burst of fire elemental Aecte appeared, accurately striking and incinerating the target board. Rami spontaneously clapped his hands and said, "Amazing, Miss Caetana. Accurate and fast. Now, try extinguishing your Aecte flame."

Agnesi immediately followed Rami's instructions. She thought about extinguishing the fire she had created, then shouted, "Elleipsis!"

"Elleipsis" is a Hellenika word meaning "lost."
