BIOHAZARD WARNING // PROJECT: THE FIRST CELL (PHASE III)

CLEARANCE: OMNI-BLACK

─────────────────────────

THIS DOCUMENT SERVES AS FORMAL NOTICE REGARDING PRIMORDIAL CELLULAR MATRIX #9902.

• 1. THE SERUM DOES NOT HEAL. IT REWRITES.

The First Cell does not restore an organism to baseline. It forces cellular decay into an aggressive, accelerated evolutionary loop. Whatever force inflicts trauma, the biological rewrite adapts violently to conquer it.

• 2. EXTREME GENETIC VOLATILITY.

Without a proprietary metabolic stabilizer, runaway mutation occurs within seconds. The boundary between survival and total biological abomination is near-zero.

• 3. COGNITIVE AND BEHAVIORAL COLLAPSE.

Revived organic matter does not retain human neurological pathways. Expect pure predatory hostility, severe hormonal spikes, and instinctive aggression toward unverified life forms.

[ BREACH PROTOCOL ]

IF SUBJECT EXHIBITS:

- Uncontrolled tissue regeneration

- Total optic pigmentation loss (solid black pupil dilation)

- Extreme structural bone-density shifts

IMMEDIATELY SEAL ALL HIGH-PRESSURE BLAST DOORS.

CUT POWER TO PRIMARY INCUBATION TANKS.

DO NOT ATTEMPT UNARMED RETRIEVAL.

 CHAPTER 1

 The Ring and the Alley

The air inside the concrete vault smelled like cheap menthol cigarettes, fried grease, and damp blood.

Cole rolled his neck.

【 CLICK 】

The clean snap of his vertebrae echoed through the tight cotton wrap taped around his wrists. In the center of the pit, beneath sodium lamps buzzing like trapped hornets, his opponent stood panting—a slab of tattooed meat with a shattered nose and zero footwork.

The brawler lunged, throwing a desperate, looping overhand right.

Cole didn’t flinch. He didn’t take a single backward step.

He tilted his head two inches to the left, letting the draft of the heavy fist stir his cropped hair. He pivoted on his lead foot, dropped his center of gravity, and drove a short, violent left hook straight into the soft flesh under the man's floating ribs.

━━【 THUMP 】━━

The hollow density of a baseball bat slamming into a sack of wet flour.

The brawler gasped, his diaphragm seizing in an instant. Cole gave him no room to recover.

Inside low kick taking out the trailing knee.

Tight right straight directly across the jaw.

━━【 CRACK ! 】━━

The brawler hit the canvas face-first. Dead weight.

The crowd around the cage erupted into a roar of drunken bets and crumpled dollar bills, but Cole had already turned away before the referee even hit the deck. He vaulted the low chain-link fence without touching the gate.

"Cole! Hey, Cole! The purse!"

A bald promoter in a stained track jacket hurried forward, shoving a grease-stained envelope against Cole’s chest.

Cole took it. He didn’t count the bills. "We're square, Jerry."

"Square? Kid, you just cracked the best bouncer on the East Side in two rounds! I can get you ten grand next Friday—"

"I’m out." Cole slung his worn leather duffel over his bare, sweat-sheened shoulder. "Don't call."

◆ ─── ◈ ─── ◆

Outside, the October air bit hard through his cotton hoodie. Rain poured from a bruised iron sky, turning the gutters into black torrents. Cole pulled his hood up, breathing in the cold chill to cleanse his lungs of the arena's sour stench.

Three blocks down, he cut through the service alley behind the old cannery—a shortcut toward the transit lines.

Halfway down the corridor, the smell hit him.

It wasn't exhaust, garbage, or rain.

C O P P E R .

Thick, fresh, metallic copper mixed with the sulfuric reek of ruptured intestines.

Cole stopped dead, combat instincts locking his joints into place.

In the dead end ahead, beneath the stuttering neon buzz of a broken fire escape sign, a shadow crouched over a limp human body.

It wasn't human.

The thing was gaunt, draped in skin the shade of bruised ash. From its shoulder blades jutted massive, skeletal wing-struts, their leathery membranes slick with rain and black ichor. Its jaw unhinged with a sickening click, burying razor-sharp needle teeth deep into the corpse’s jugular.

Cole reached into his jacket, hand hovering near his phone. Call it in. Back away slowly.

【 SQUELCH 】

The beast ripped its head up, tossing a clump of shredded flesh aside.

Its eyes weren't biological—they were two burning voids of black ink, locking instantly onto Cole

From the shadows around the dumpster, three pale shapes stirred. Civilians. Or what was left of them. Necks torn open, grey veins pulsing violently across their temples, cloudy white eyes locked in manic hunger.

They dropped to all fours, hissing like cracked steam valves, and sprinted straight at him.

Cole dropped his duffel.

Panic was a waste of oxygen.

Lead foot forward. High guard. Chin tucked.

The first ghoul lunged, blackened fingernails clawing for his eyes. Cole slipped inside the wild sweep, hooked his forearm under the creature's elbow, and wrenched downward.

━━【 SNAP ! 】━━

Dead pine. Before the ghoul could register the fracture, Cole stepped through with his rear leg, driving a crushing elbow into the hinge of its jaw. Bone splintered. The creature collapsed in a twitching heap.

The second ghoul vaulted off a rusted dumpster, claws extended mid-flight. Cole didn't flinch—he stepped squarely into the pocket, snatched both wrists right out of the air, and pivoted hard on his heels.

Using the monster's own forward momentum like a textbook Kudo throw, he rotated his hips and whipped the ghoul downward in a vicious arc.

━━【 S L A M ! 】━━

The creature crashed flat on its back, the impact fracturing its spine against the sodden asphalt.

He wheeled around for the third—

【 W H O O S H ! 】

A blast of hurricane-force wind slammed Cole flat against the brick wall. Masonry shattered under the impact.

Before Cole could drop his hands, the Dracula Demon was already there. It moved faster than human vision could track, its ash-colored face inches from his eyes.

「 Puny vermin. 」

The voice vibrated directly inside Cole's auditory nerve—cold, suffocating, and dripping with venom.

「 ……….. ……………. 」

Two razor-tipped wing-struts punched forward.

Cole twisted to evade, but the speed was impossible. The bone blades skewered straight through his shoulders, pinning muscle, bone, and sinew like meat on iron skewers.

Blood bubbled over his lips.

With a horrifying snap of leathery wings, the beast launched straight up into the sky, carrying Cole impaled upon its struts.

The alley fell away in a dizzying blur. The city transformed into a glowing grid of rain-drenched rooftops far below. The freezing air tore into Cole's punctured shoulders as they ascended hundreds of feet into the storm clouds.

The demon pulled Cole close to its leering maw. Its needle teeth grazed his throat, then snapped down into his left trapezius, tearing out a massive chunk of living flesh.

Cole's vision exploded into blinding white agony. His nervous system flared, overloaded, and went numb.

The beast spat the mouthful of blood into the wind and sneered.

「 Worthless. 」

The bone struts violently retracted.

The demon let go.

Cole fell.

The wind screamed in his ears. Gravity caught his broken frame, accelerating him through the sheets of rain. He watched the black silhouette of the winged nightmare hover in the clouds, fading into the dark.

Below him, the alley vanished as he drifted over the adjacent avenue.

A split second of shattered metal and explosive glass.

━━━【 C R A S H ! 】━━━

Cole's body smashed directly through the steel roof of a sedan parked along the curb, caving the frame inward like foil and showering the asphalt in pulverized safety glass.

Car alarms shrieked into the wet night.

"Someone fell from the sky!"

"Call an ambulance! Call 911 right now!"

"He’s bleeding out—don't touch his neck!"

Through the ruined windshield and the frantic blur of gathering faces, Cole looked up into the downpour.

His heart gave three weak, fluttering beats.

Sirens wailed faintly in the distance.

Then, darkness.
