Chapter 9:

CHAPTER 7: MC Enrollment into PHS

HAKIMINOSHIN 100

The morning sun cast a cold, brilliant glow over the futuristic skyline of Mu City. The year was 2030, an era defined by hyper-advanced technology where traditional educational models had long been discarded. In this streamlined society, primary education was completely bypassed, sending children straight into high school at age ten.
Inside the Kagawa residence, ten-year-old Mori Kagawa zipped up his signature dark jacket. The moment the collar clicked into place, an integrated micro-field activated—a subtle energy cap hovered overhead, casting a permanent, impenetrable shadow across his upper face. Beneath that dark shade, only his firm chin and small, sharp smile were visible.
His twenty-one-year-old brother, Itsuki Sutoya, leaned against the doorway, adjusting his own lab coat. Sutoya was already a world-renowned astrophysicist and top senior scientist at the Demon Core Association Federation—following right in the footsteps of their father, Akiro, a legendary lead engineer, and their mother, Isuki, a pioneer in bio-quantum mechanics.
Sutoya walked over and lightly patted Mori's shoulder, carefully adjusting his younger brother's dark green hair. Their hair was a striking, unmistakable hereditary trait inherited from their parents' emerald and lemon green locks—a dominant, deep thick green with subtle, glowing traces of lemon green running through the strands.
"Remember, Mori," Sutoya said, his tone serious yet gentle. "Our family name carries too much weight in Mu City. If the public or the media finds out Akiro and Isuki Kagawa’s ten-year-old son is enrolling, your life will be swarmed with press, politics, and unwanted attention. Your official documents are sealed. Your registered name on the roster is simply N/A—Not Available."
"I got it, Bro," Mori replied, his voice brimming with calm confidence. "I just want to learn anyway."
A short hover-ride later, Mori stood before the sprawling, monumental complex of Potential High School—famously known as PHS. PHS was an elite institution that rejected standard applications, admitting only those rare prodigies who demonstrated extreme, top-tier potential.
Mori was first escorted into the high-tech administrative wing to meet the head of the institution: Principal Aname Tadashi.
Principal Aname, a sharp-eyed man with graying hair and a impeccably tailored suit, looked up from his holographic desk as the shadowed boy stepped inside. Aname scanned the encrypted file on his terminal, seeing the heavy red security locks blanking out the boy's lineage and personal data.
"So... you are the special candidate sent directly under top-level security clearance," Principal Aname noted, his eyes narrowing slightly as he tried to peer beneath the black shadow shielding Mori's face. "Your records are completely blacked out, young man. But PHS does not care about background or status—we care only about raw, unbridled potential. Do not make a fool of my school."
"I won't, Principal Aname," Mori stated simply.
Aname nodded, approving of the boy's calm demeanor. "Good. Head to Sector 3, Classroom B. Mr. Hinomura is waiting."
Mori walked down the sleek metallic corridors of PHS until he reached Classroom B. Inside, two dozen gifted ten-year-olds sat behind glowing glass desks. At the front of the room stood Mr. Hinomura, a strict, sharp-looking instructor reviewing the morning's curriculum on a massive digital board.
At PHS, the baseline curriculum skipped general studies entirely, jumping straight into Elementary Physics, Elementary Chemistry, and Advanced Mathematics. Today’s focus was Elementary Mathematics—specifically high-level calculus and spatial coordinate systems.
The door slid open with a soft hiss. Mori stepped inside, the shadow from his jacket cap fully concealing his facial features, his unique emerald-and-lemon green hair catching the light.
The entire class fell dead silent, staring at the mysterious new transfer student.
Mr. Hinomura tapped his digital tablet to bring up the updated class roster. He scrolled down to the bottom, expecting a standard profile, only to freeze. His eyes widened in absolute shock as he stared at the screen.
The name slot was completely classified, glowing with a crimson administrative warning: NAME: N/A [RESTRICTED ACCESS].
Mr. Hinomura cleared his throat, quickly regaining his composure, though a bead of sweat formed on his temple. He recognized an absolute top-tier government seal when he saw one.
"Ahem!" Mr. Hinomura announced, shutting off his tablet and looking up at the class. "Listen up, everyone. We have a late addition joining our class starting today."
A boy in the front row raised his hand. "Mr. Hinomura, what's his name? Where is he from?"
"Well..." Mr. Hinomura paused, choosing his words carefully as he gestured toward Mori. "Our candidate today... his identity is strictly protected and is not supposed to be known. On the roster, he is registered simply as 'Not Available.' Therefore, you will not ask for his real name, nor will you attempt to pry into his background."
Whispers instantly erupted across the room.
"Not available? Is he a secret agent's kid?"
"Look at his hair... and why is his face covered in shadow?"
"He must have crazy high potential if the school gave him a hidden identity!"
Mr. Hinomura knocked his knuckles against the podium, silencing the murmurs.
"That is enough chatter," Mr. Hinomura declared firmly. "I expect all of you to welcome him as an official member of this class. 'N/A', take the open desk in the third row."
Mori gave a polite, quiet nod. "Thank you, Mr. Hinomura."
As Mori walked down the aisle toward his desk, the quiet shadow across his face hid a sharp, eager gleam in his eyes. Under the hidden identity of N/A, his journey at Potential High School had officially begun.
