Chapter 1:

Are You the Monster?

Are You the Monster?

Once, in a land far, far, far, far, far, far, far away—a place pure from sin—a quintessence of peace, filled with harmony, there lived a curious traveller.

He wasn't old nor he was young, but what he was, was that he was curious.

Thus he had a question: Where can I find the Monster?

And so, he begins his journey to discover it.

On his way though the breezing wind on the dazzling grassy lands, he met a knight.

The Knight wore a solid steel armour with his face barely making through his helmet. A red cape swayed on his back.

"Are you the Monster?" The curious traveller asked.

The knight was caught off guard by the traveller's strange question.

After a moment of reticence, he replied, "No, I am not the Monster. Perhaps you should search in the forest."

The traveller nodded and headed towards the dark forest.

Inside the dark—almost gloomy forest, he found an adventurer.

The adventurer wore a hunter-like suit with grey trousers and a brown shirt with a heavy brown jacket. He had green eyes and blonde mustache.

"Are you the Monster?" the traveller asked again.

The adventurer too, was surprised by the traveller's strange question.

After a moment of thought, he spoke, "No, I am not the Monster. Maybe you will find it on the mountains."

The traveller nodded and thus reached with his determination he reached the mountains.

Though, he struggled hard to climb it at first, after a long struggle he was finally able to reach to the top—where a beautiful garden awaited him.

There, amongst the selcouth red flowers, he met a snake hanging on the branch of a redwood tree.

"Are you the Monster?" the traveller asked the snake.

The snake at first appeared a little wifty—then chuckled almost as he wasn't expecting that question to be asked about so casually, "I know where you can find the Monster." The serpent flicked its tongue. "Just follow the flowing river until you reach the lake of pure water. There you will find it."

The snake then using it's rhythmic long tail offered him a fruit.

The traveller accepted it and begin to follow the long, beautiful river until he reached the lake.

All around him were thick trees, grass, and countless beautiful plants. The lake was fresh—almost mirror-like.

He took a bite of the fruit given to him by the snake. The bitter taste of that fruit filled his mouth and made him thirsty.

As he reached for the water, he saw his own reflection.

What he saw was not the face of a human, nor that of an angel. It was the face of a Monster.

The snake then appeared beside him and asked softly, "Are you the Monster?"

It was a in the end, a pyrrhic answer.

This story may not be a true story, for there is no land free from sin that lives in peace and harmony.

But if there ever was such a land... what happened there?
