Chapter 7:

Something Beautiful

To Start A New Life

The wind was blowing hard now.It was starting to get a bit cold and the rain was getting heavy without a sign of stopping anytime soon. The road behind him was empty. Not a single living thing moved. His thoughts wandered.

A smile formed in his face when his mind wandered towards Saraya. And the longing came back haunting him.He thought about the good moments more like the best moments he had when he was with her.His mind wandered more and he remembered every curl in her hair, how her forehead formed wrinkles when she was focusing on something and especially the strawberry flavoured smell of her hair from whatever shampoo she used. His smile turned sour realized how badly he treated her in the last few weeks. He wished he could go back in time and fix everything if not for him but for her.Well, you can't reverse time so nothing mattered now.Everything that mattered to him once was nothing compared to the hollowness inside. It was time to embrace it and let go.It's time to meet with the people on the other side.It was time for him to go.

Slowly, he put forward his right foot and was about to let go just then he heard muffled sounds from the right.Muffled cries to be precise. It bothered him somehow. It was stopping him from taking another step. All the hollowness inside was shrinking away and emotions were screaming to come out.But he tried to control yet he couldn't.He jumped back in on to the road and went towards the source of the  sound. There at almost the other end of the bridge on the edge stood a figure shrouded in darkness. The figure was barely visible in a dim light coming out of the street lights.

As he went near,he heard a familiar voice crying. He couldn't place a finger on it.He heard her apologizing to her parents of killing her bother. She was apologizing to everyone she knew. The shrouded figure was none other than Saraya.Thats when everything kicked in.The hollowness shrinked away and emotions came pouring in.His body moved automatically as she was stepping into the nothingness. He hugged her tightly from behind not letting go.The world around them paused. Her body went loose from stiff in a matter of seconds. Her breath became normal as she held on this arms leaning her head on his chest. The stream of tears was flowing down at a more quicker pace now.But the warmth from his body was a calming presence.Ronit gave in to this new feeling taking in her smell and hugging her tightly forgetting about everything.

After that night, both of them stopped going to school.Ronit told everything that happened to his grandfather including the details regarding Saraya's family.Ronit and his grandpa didn't let her go back to her house.Ronit felt a different kind of oneness whenever he was with her or thinking about her.He never wanted to let her go or leave her alone.Something he never felt when he was drooling over Kiara. His grandfather made some arrangements for both of them and eventually provided them with the financial support to move out of the country to start a new life. They eventually left the country with his grandfather. He was prepared to pick up his trade abroad. They did face difficulties in the pursuit of happiness but together they overcame all the odds.Shards from their old life didn't really go away but together they learnt to embrace it and lead a good life.
