Chapter 27:

Chapter 27: Clearing a Road and Reuniting with the Past

A Journey of True Love Under a Cherry Tree

“So this is the place for the mission?” Rufus asked.

“Yes, this is the Clear Water Plains Road, it is a direct road to the next cities and temple, so it attracts a lot of monsters and thieves. My former guild protects this road from time to time, but what I read on the job post, we have to clear out the monsters' presence since they are making their activities more noticeable, so we have to find the force and destroy it,” Silva explained reading the job description on her holo-watch.

“Right, we have to clear the road and my shoes will be ruined,” Lisa complained.

“If it gets these people back to their homes, then I am willing to do it,” Silva said, staring at the people left behind.

“I hate to see two lovely ladies fighting, but we better start getting to work,” Rufus said as he launched an arrow killing a monster.

“I suggest if we do not want to go all the way to the end of the road that we find the leader to finish the mission faster,” Julius suggested.

“Right, glad you are able to join us so quickly. Rajah you will be in the front with me and Rufus, while you three take the back. Ok, now let’s get to work,” Silva shouted her orders as she took on the front with Rufus.

“Glad to be here,” Julius said, ready to fight.

“Right, Silva hold on,” Lisa shouted trying to catch her footing.

The gang began working on taking out the monsters left and right with an elegant spin to their attacks.

“I forgot how much fun it was killing off monsters,” Silva shouted as she was fighting off more monsters.

“Yes, the thrill really is exciting,” Raquel said as she was pushing some of the creatures off of her.

“Silva, please don’t overdo it,” Rajah said as he was biting off a monster's face.

“Right, I do not know what has gotten over me, but this sword is amazing. Ok, guys we cleared the first area, let’s get going to the next. I must warn you it is a little narrow, so try not to get in the way of the attacks,” Silva shouted as she was running off.

“Right, Silva, takes the lead again, Rufus will take the second position, Rajah will be with Silva, and the rest of us will be back up again,” Raquel said, annoyed.

The gang soon arrived in the next area, but it seemed it was going to be harder to move around since they were trapped with monsters surrounding them with no way out.

“Get out of here now,” Silva yelled.

“Thank you,” the people said as they were making their way down the path.

“Man, this sure is going to be hard to deal with, now we have to protect civilians too, great,” Rufus complained as he was fighting off a beast.

“Well, it is an extra part of the job, so we have to take care of it,” Silva shouted.

They continued to move on until they reached the summit of the road where it seemed the monsters were getting tougher, so they began to bring out the big guns.

“Wow, even though I am having fun with my sword, but it will not be enough to take out the rest of the monsters,” Silva shouted.

“I hear you, even with my fist magic is not working, what should we do?” Raquel shouted.

“Just keep on fighting, we should be reaching the end of this pretty soon, so just hang on,” Rufus shouted.

“Well, you guys sure are ruining my fun, I am having the time of my life killing off monsters and you guys are complaining. Have some fun,” Silva said while taking a break.

“Well, we are not like you, with all this energy,” Raquel shouted.

“Well, too…ba…!”

“Silva watch out!” Rajah shouted jumping to take out the monster that was about to attack Silva.

“Thank you Rajah.”

“Jeez, Silva always playing the part of the damsel in distress,” Lisa complained about not being rescued.

“Stop complaining and get to work,” Seth shouted as he was helping her fight off the monsters.

Silva and the others continued on fighting on until it was taking its toll on our heroes trying to clear the way.

“I don’t think I cannot take this anymore, I am getting exhausted,” Lisa said, getting weak on the knees.

“Hold on Lisa, I think we are almost to the boss,” Silva shouted.

“Alright ... .Huh, Silva watch out,” Lisa shouted, getting her attention.

Silva heard the warning, but instead of saving herself, she ran over to save Rajah and was going to accept her faith until someone came to save them.

“It seems I found you in a bind princess,” someone said.

Silva got a closer look and she was shocked to see who saved her.

“Julian, what are you doing here?”

“Currently saving you.”

“Ah, oh.”

“I hate to cut this short, but we have a job to complete, now if you don’t mind,” Rufus said a little angry as he shouted his arrow to the beast's face, killing him.

“Let’s get to work, Julian, we will talk later,” Silva said, gathering herself to fight again.

“As you wish,” Julian said, stepping back.

Silva and the others continued with their quest as they continued up the road until they finally were able to reach the end of the road that led to the temple.

“Alright everyone, we finally reached the demon’s lair, so if we defeat it, it might get rid of the other monsters covering the other parts of the road,” Silva explained, ready to fight again.

“I am in, I barely killed anything,” Julius said ready to fight.

“Right, ok, Julius, Rufus, come with me, Raquel, Rajah, and Lisa you come after us, we will do this as a multiple attack and do not go easy, ok ready, let’s go,” Silva ordered, coming up with a plan.

“Right, stand aside pretty boy and let us handle this,” Lisa said, shoving Julian away.

“Yes, sure,” Julian said, stepping back.

As a team, Raquel and the others approached the leader by forming a circle around the beast trying to distract it as the people with swords try to get closer to send off the final blow. They dodged as many attacks as they could while the others did the same. Then the leader’s attacks continued on, but a little fiercer making it harder to attack. They continued on with the plan, cutting down the creatures until Rufus, Julius, and Silva made their way to the center. Silva noticed the creature was a little over protective of its mouth, so she came up with a better plan.

“Listen up Raquel, Rajah, please head for the center and create an opening for Rufus and I. We are going to give it a special treat,” Silva shouted.

“Got Sil, just say the word,” Raquel said ready to fight.

“Ok, ready go and be careful,” She said, running as far back as she could, grabbing her bow from Rufus ready to fire.

“Ok, Silva, it’s now or never,” Raquel shouted.

“Alright, Rufus, we got one shot at this, so we better make it count, are you ready?” Silva said getting into position.

“Yes, let’s do this,” Rufus said ready.

Rufus and Silva fired their arrows at the creature's mouth and it was finally defeated.

“Phew, I am glad that is over,” Raquel said, relieved.

“Yeah, that sure was a tough one off the bat,” Silva said, relieved.

Then a screen popped up on their watches saying mission complete.

“Cool, so how do you get the award now,” Lisa asked kindly.

“Oh, easy, just click on the accept button and the awards will be transferred to you automatically as well as informing the Guild Office that we completed the job,” Raquel explained as she and the others clicked the accept buttons.

As they were accepting the gifts, it seems the money was transferred equally among them depending on their participation in the job. They even got some extra weapons and supplies transferred in their bags.

“Cool, these will come in handy,” Julius said, impressed.

“Yeah, these are really amazing awards, now I can go shopping,” Lisa said excitedly.

“Jeez Lisa,” Silva said smiling.

“Well, that sure was entertaining, just like the Silva I remembered,” Julius said, clapping with success.

“You stayed and watched us the whole time,” Silva asked, questioning Julian.

“I thought I would like to see how a real team operates before heading to the temple,” Julian confessed.

“Right,” Silva plainly responded.

“So…Silva, care to introduce this gentleman next to you?” Lisa asked.

“Oh, he is High Wizard Julian from the capital, he comes from a very wealthy and powerful royal family and my political fiancé,” Silva introduced.

“Your, WHAT!” everyone shouted.

“Yeah, just like I said, he is my fiancé. This arrangement happened years ago when I was still part of the Guild League. He is the nephew of the Guild King. His Majesty wanted me to marry him in order to bring magic back to my kingdom and to keep his line to continue. Our engagement is not finalized unless I say so and we are married in a heartbeat,” Silva explained the situation.

“Yes, it is nice to meet all of Silva’s friends, but I am sorry to make this short, but I must be going, see you again soon,” Julian said leaving before it got a little strange.

“Yeah, it was nice seeing you again,” Silva plainly said.

“Yes, it sure was, this is for you,” Julian said as a magical rose appeared as he disappeared.

“Silva when you were going to tell us, you were engaged this entire time and did not tell us or even Terrance for that matter,” Lisa shouted angrily.

“Yeah, well, I never thought it was important since it did not matter to me, but I will tell Terrance about it when I see him. Now let’s head back,” Silva vaguely explained.

“Yeah, that is a bit hard to believe since you love Terrance and you do not want to get hurt,” Lisa points out.

“I promise, you guys I will tell Terrance later, for now let’s head back to the city. I would like to see Liliana,” Silva said, changing the subject.

“Yeah, let’s, besides it would be nice to see Liliana after this,” Raquel said, agreeing.

“Yeah, so we should notify Terrance and the others where we might be,” Lisa suggested.

“True, I’ll take care of it,” Lisa offered, walking away to make the call.

“Thank you, so should we head out?” Silva asked.

“Um…Silva, I think I am going to pass on this temple visit and do my own thing for a while. I don’t trust this Julian guy and I want to know more about him, so I will catch up with you guys when I am done,” Julius explained.

“Julius, you don’t trust no one besides ... .What are you going to do about Scout?” Silva commented.

“Well, I will send her the coordinates and she can meet me, she is a great tracker after all,” Julius pointed out.

“Fine, we will catch up when we can and to think I was just getting used to you being part of the group,” Silva pointed out.

“Don’t worry I will be back, you just have to wait,” Julius slyly said leaving the group.

“Well, take care and good luck,” Raquel shouted kindly.

“I will,” Julius said, making his way down the hill.

“Terrance is taken care of, where is Julius going?” Lisa said walking back to the group.

“Julius said is passing on the temple visit and he is going to do his thing for a little while, but he will meet up with us once his task is over, so let’s go already before we are late,” Silva said irritated.

“Oh and I was getting used to that idiot,” Lisa said disappointed.

“Yeah, so let’s go,” Silva said walking ahead.

“So…does that “Fiancé” of yours know about your little secret,” Seth whispers to Silva.

“Of course he does not know, only my family, Terrance, Seth, Rufus, and Lisa know about my secret and I know none of you told him anything. Besides, I wouldn’t get it passed by my parents for selling my parents to gain magic gain,” Silva explained, a bit annoyed.

“Yeah, that is parents for you,” Seth said, beginning to walk with the others.

“Man we are supposed to be a team and now we are all going on different paths,” Lisa said as she was walking by Rajah.

“We all take different paths, but they will all lead to the same place,” Rajah said, trying to cheer Lisa up.

“Yeah, I guess you are right, thank you Rajah,” Lisa said with a smile.

“Hey, Lisa, Rajah, hurry up or we will leave you behind,” Silva shouted.

“Ok we’re coming,”

The group began their journey to Silver Lily Temple in hopes they would forget about what just happened on the road.
