Chapter 3:

Chapter 2.5: Phan's Magic Theory

The Phantom sage

Hi there readers this is the author here. Well as you read back in chapter 1, Phan's magic is a bit unique, as he is currently the only one to use it. In terms of ability he far surpasses others his age. He is capable of creating his own magic method, this method relies more on internal mana than external.

"What is 'Internal Mana'?" you may ask. Well Internal Mana is the mana that's inside you, basically its magic power or true Qi/Ki for those that like Manhua (Or the DB franchise). "Then what is 'External Mana'?" is what you might follow up with. well external mana is the mana that's outside the body, sorta like worldly essence or whatever.

Phan's magic uses his own internal mana to create rings that process the raw external mana into a magic spell. His magic sorta works like a conveyer belt that automatically turns Iron ore into a sword.

Magic affinity- everyone has an affinity with all magics (not including Null), but as you get older you start to focus more on one or two types of magic, hence duo mages are 1 in 100, triple mages are 1 in 1000, so on so forth increasing in powers of ten.

The first ring is the refining ring. This is like the furnace of the conveyer belt. It would turn raw mana into refined mana with an element. The colour of the ring determines the element. Red= fire, blue=water, brown=earth, light green=wind, yellow=light, black=dark. But what about the spells that don't have a element? well they don't have a first ring, instead it is replaced with the second ring, so the second ring is the first ring for spells that don't have a first ring. the magic without a first ring is called Null magic, it is comprised of body enhancement, item enhancement and barrier like spells (And spatial spells, as spatial magic is not that deveeloped in this world).

The second ring, is like a mould in this conveyer belt. It tells the mana what shape it should be in, for example the pit spell tells the mana it should form a pit, or a hole in the ground.

The third ring and beyond, are variant rings. These rings just create a different version of the spell, for example the pit spell was originally made for hunting small and fast animals, but Phan modified it to make it work on larger animals like that shock boar. think of it as a sword custom made to fit your build, like a smaller broadsword for a smaller person.

The origin of this magic is unclear, as Phan was very young when he made it, but Phan says it is rather simple to learn as it is made to make beastmen mages more prominent in battle rather than enchanting

When making Spell rings, Phan uses Ancient runic language, rather than the more modern, magic Runic language. Phan is capable of reading and writing in Ancient runic, but cannot have a proper conversation in it. Ancient runic makes spells more powerful than magic runic, because one was the original and the other was the simplified. Both magic runic and runic language, the language Beast men use, originates from Ancient runic.
