Chapter 6:
Kuru: World built with hidden truths.
Stepping outside the area near him is fresh. The floor is damp too, a clear sign that it rained last night which is a good thing too. Carlos unknowingly walks around the area confused, looking around he sees the same, that someone would see in any normal forest, bushes and trees. The day gets close to ending, and there's been a whole lot of nothing, a lot of walking but really nothing to show for it foodwise. But really Carlos did a lot of resting in the middle of his walks because the soreness and the pain where that burnt area feels horrible.
Before sunset Carlos actually finds a bush full of berries. And of course he eats everything that's ripe on the bush, anything that had the bitter flavor or didn't look or taste sweet he just spits out. The next day Carlos needs to keep moving. No town seems to be nearby for him to go to so he just goes wherever he listens and actually finds more bushes. But how could he actually save the berries he gets from them?
Carlos tries to teach himself how to make a small pouch, at first he tries with a big durable leaf and it looks like it works but he doesn't have a way to keep the berries from falling out. He tries using thin parts of the vine but they are too fragile. Eventually he finds a durable vine that he could use but he struggles to teach himself to tie a knot. After hours he practiced it enough and figured it out. His main food supply was berries at the moment.
Almost three days have passed and luckily enough he finds a brown bunny, he follows it and it leads him to a beautiful waterfall Carlos sees multiple animals thinking about killing them for food but he couldn't bring himself to do it.
After more time passes Carlos starts to realize something, his lightning seems to be dormant for now. Over the past two days he's only felt a little growth in it since the explosion. Although the more he rests the faster his body starts to feel recharged. The mark from the exploration also seems to be healing. At least that and he finally found a water source, a beautiful waterfall that he drinks from the freshest he's had in so long.
One day the berries are starting to run out, and he's seriously getting tired of them. Starving and searching, his body sparks his eyes widening as he looks around and he sees a deer with internal struggle, he makes the move and shoots lightning into it. He tried making it quick but his aim was bad having only not trained at all with it. That moment was the first time he actually used it and it felt powerful. The deer struggled for a moment, steam rising from the point of impact as its body started to spasm and then eventually gave out. The guilt from his first ever kill hurts him seeing the deer's body spasm.
He feels pain for it but he needed to do it so he could survive but there was leftover lightning energy inside the deer and he took a mental note of that.
At the same time Carlos tried to teach himself how to make a makeshift knife, but eventually failed. He used a sharp enough stone to cut a little from the deer's hide and rip it off the meat with his bare hands.
The feeling is nice, the guilt sucks but having a real meal waiting in front of you feels amazing. He doesn't wanna eat the meat raw so he tried to use the lightning to cook it but ultimately failed and burnt a lot of the flesh, either way he still eats it. After waiting he eventually gets a good idea to use the leather from the deer to make a bigger better pouch, at first he struggles the fatty layered was hard to take off but he just used a stone so it was smooth on the inside, now he's upgraded. Eventually more and more time passes, maybe a week or more.
Carlos has taught himself a lot on how to survive on his own. The days feel shorter and easier. After the more he thinks about the lightning he used the more he thinks about the leftover remaining energy he felt inside the deer and it won't stop bugging him. After the soreness got to a level where it's tolerable he actually started training how to use his lightning better. He's figuring out better ways to control it, but after training his muscles usually start to spasm. It's been a long time since Carlos has properly trained, either way he pushes through it wanting to get better at what his name is even known for. So far he's taught himself how to shoot it out properly and aim it at things better than before, but that's really it.
His other normal training just includes stuff his dad used to make him and watch him do, stuff like situps, pushups, chinups. He trains smaller because when he tried to do the full workout his dad had showed him one time his body paid for it and he was stuck resting and barely walking for a day like how he was when he started.
Carlos adapts what he struggled on back then starts getting easier in the survival category he still struggles hard on his self taught training, he tries to learn to balance his training having split them up and doing smaller versions of both to warm himself back up. Nonetheless he struggles hard on this, he's completely figuring out how to handle his own schedule and figure out other things while being alone at his age.
He misses his brother, he misses Arabella, what if she visited and thinks he's dead, this type of realization hits him hard. He might never be able to make a friend again. He's lost everything, the Raio family is truly dead and he has no idea what the people are thinking. Will he even be able to show his face in public? What would happen? It hurts him deeply to the point where it's almost unmotivating but he keeps going on with his training and with his need to survive. So he keeps pushing these thoughts out of his head so he doesn't get unmotivated like how he did when Arabella left.
“I won't let the Raio name die in vain. I'll live so I can be the reason others don't go through what I went through.” With this in his mind the more determined he gets, and with that he keeps moving so he can find civilization so he can finally start what he promised his mom.
