Chapter 11:
The Son of Apollo
We followed this stupid map for two days since we left the town porkchop
(the name is still dumb). We wasted 6 days from 10 days already.
Finally we came across another spot we needed to go as the map said.
It’s a pitch dark forest with animals roaring every second.
We walked for two hours trying to find the way out when we heard the stompers talking.
“What beast are we going to hunt?” One asked “I don't know” another one replied “It’s the Amphisbaena” the leader answered then they walked away. “The Amphisbaena?” Bill asked “They are two headed snakes, one head grows normally but another head is on its tail and they have wings” I said “They eat ants” I added to make Bill more comfortable because he’s scared of snakes even though snakes were his dad’s sacred animals. We walked 1 more hour until we found ourselves at the heart of the jungle. There’s a swamp there. In the middle of the swamp, there was an Amphisbaena giving birth to 3 little Amphisbaenas. Wait, the Amphisbaena gave birth? It’s Anphivena! Because only males were called Amphisbaena and only females were called Anphivena. The Anphivena hissed to protect her children when we stepped closer. “It’s okay we’re not going to harm you” I said gently and tried to pet her. Finally she trusted me enough to let me pet her and look at her children “Then they're going to kill her!” I said shockingly “Who?” Bill asked “Stompers!” I answered, then Bill gasped.
That’s when we heard a noise “Quick! Hide in the trees!” I said when we ran to the tree. But the Anphivena didn’t follow us because she couldn't leave her children. I sniped one of the stompers that’s trying to get to the Anphivena. Bill ran and kicked as many stompers as possible and ran back. We continued this loop for an hour because there were hundreds of stompers.
But something happened. A knife thrower threw a knife at the Anphivena. Bill couldn’t stop it. He was too far even with his super speed. I was her last line of defense. I failed. I shot my arrow to the knife but a stomper ran and took the hit. The knife hitted the Anphivena in her throat and her children’s body. They all died. Then I bursted into flames with rage and shot 20 arrows in one second. Then I punched everyone who was still standing into ashes. When I was finished, I cried. I let the tears flow thinking about the Anphivena and what I had failed. But all of a sudden I heard a noise under Anphivena's body. It was her child. One survived.
“I will raise you and protect you for what I’ve failed” I said to him “I name you Aerial”.
And we continued our journey with a little Amphisbaena on my shoulder.
