Chapter 18:
The director of the magic school is the new student, Susie Liam
Miranda's tutor is a second-year student from a hysterical witch family. She always asks incomprehensible questions and gets angry if Miranda can't answer them. And to make matters worse, the practical training always takes place at sea, on a ship.
"It's the worst! I get sunburned and my throat gets dry! Can't you take my place, Susie?"
"That's the one thing I don't want. Miranda has a nice room too, so that's good, isn't it?"
Miranda has a private room at the very end of the first floor, complete with a balcony. She says she likes it when little birds gather there.
"I wonder... can we fly?"
"We assess their aptitude during the entrance exam and then pass them, so basically, they can fly."
"Oh, really? That sounds exciting. But I assume the flying training starts after passing the basic education exam, right?"
One of the fundamental subjects, the Potions class, will begin soon.
I'm currently being drilled by my tutor into the history of white magic and black magic.
This school teaches white magic.
Black magic is powerful, but it's taboo because it comes back to haunt you twice as hard and could even lead to the destruction of the world.
Herbal medicine. New students cultivate plants from seed in a huge farm next to the palace.
In the picture books I loved as a child, the witch made medicinal herbs.
When I boarded the ship bound for Enzyme, I wished time would stop, but now I'm looking forward to what will happen in six months or a year.
Furthermore, I felt a sense of freedom being away from my family. At my parents' mansion, several tutors stayed 24 hours a day, constantly managing my meals, sleep, and exercise in preparation for my entrance exams.
If I don't pass, I have no human rights. There's no meaning to my life... A hellish sense of anxiety that feels like I'm being burned.
In contrast, this is a peaceful paradise.
Spending time with Adam, my tutor, is something I look forward to, like the beginning of a romance.
