Chapter 49:
The director of the magic school is the new student, Susie Liam
The winter break is over, and the new semester has begun at Enzyme Dormitory.
Even when I'm laughing with my friends, a cold block of ice lingers deep inside my heart.
(Is this how I always am...?)
The one who summoned her was the headmaster, Survival, who had become subservient to white magic through a contract.
In the dimly lit principal's office, Survival was puffing on a cigar while gazing out the window at the sea.
"I will continue as chairman for another three months."
"I know. By the way, you look pale, Susie. ...For some reason, I can see right through what you're thinking."
"Huh? How did you know?"
"Given your abilities, you should have reached a conclusion during this break. Whether that's fortunate or unfortunate."
As Susie gasped, Survival turned around and flashed a sinister smile.
"Whether it's white magic or whatever, if you monopolize it, negative energy will accumulate and it will gradually turn into black magic. It can't be helped... Ha ha ha."
"Don't...don't act so defiant."
The man who once betrayed me now understands me better than anyone else. It's infuriating.
"Susie, you possess a unique ability called 'find.' You can uncover the truth and create a new world."
"But... my family was strongly against it."
"Of course. You'll protect your vested rights to the death and pass them on to your children. There's nothing wrong with that. But you can't just leave it at that."
Survival looked at me while drinking coffee.
"He's the kind of wizard who helps people he has absolutely no connection to, without expecting anything in return."
What do you know about me? But the first time I met Miranda was when I took her to the infirmary because she was seasick.
"Isn't that something everyone does unconsciously?"
"That's not the case for the privileged class."
"So, what do you want me to do?"
"Just be honest with your feelings. Don't worry about what your family thinks."
