Chapter 2:
Level Infinity
In the lingering aftermath of the mysterious incident, Shinuha's thoughts were consumed by a single question.
Who was that mysterious man?
Driven by an unyielding desire for answers, Shinuha approached his teacher.
“Teacher, who was that mysterious man?”
His teacher looked at him for a moment before quietly shaking his head.
“I don't know about that man.”
Shinuha was surprised.
“You don't know anything about him?”
“No. I don't.”
Shinuha wanted to ask more, but he realized there was nothing else he could learn from his teacher.
For now, he decided to leave the mystery behind.
There was something else he needed to focus on.
His power.
Shinuha knew that having enormous power meant nothing if he couldn't control it.
He needed to learn how to command his magic.
So he decided to find a place where nobody could get hurt if he lost control again.
A forest.
Deep within the forest stood countless ancient trees. No houses surrounded the area, and hardly anyone ever came there.
It was the perfect place to train.
Shinuha stood alone among the trees and took a deep breath.
“Let's try this again.”
He raised his hand and concentrated.
At first, nothing happened.
Then—
BOOM!
A sudden wave of magical energy erupted from his body.
The surrounding trees began moving wildly.
Branches twisted.
Vines spread across the ground.
The plants seemed to go completely out of control.
“Stop!”
Shinuha tried desperately to control them.
But his magic refused to obey.
The forest around him became chaotic.
Finally, the energy began to disappear.
Shinuha fell to his knees.
He was completely exhausted.
“Again…”
He refused to give up.
After resting for some time, he tried again.
This time, he concentrated harder.
Slowly, he began to feel the magic responding to his will.
A few vines rose from the ground.
Shinuha moved his hand.
The vines followed his movement.
For a brief moment, he had control.
“I did it…”
But the control didn't last long.
The enormous strain quickly drained his energy.
Shinuha collapsed onto the forest floor and sat there, breathing heavily.
“At least… I'm improving.”
Suddenly—
“HELP!”
A sharp scream echoed from deep within the forest.
Shinuha immediately raised his head.
Another scream followed.
“HELP!”
His exhaustion disappeared from his mind.
Someone was in danger.
Shinuha immediately ran toward the sound.
He pushed through the thick foliage, moving deeper into the forest.
Then he reached a small clearing.
His eyes widened.
A young boy was lying on the ground.
A huge lion was standing over him.
The boy was completely helpless.
The lion prepared to attack.
Shinuha didn't hesitate.
“Get away from him!”
Despite being exhausted, Shinuha summoned whatever magic remained inside him.
He raised both hands.
The earth suddenly trembled.
WHOOSH!
Trees erupted from the ground, forming a thick barrier between the lion and the boy.
The lion crashed against the wooden barrier.
Shinuha gritted his teeth.
“Hold it!”
Roots and vines burst from the ground.
They wrapped tightly around the lion, restraining it.
The beast struggled violently.
Shinuha gathered the last of his strength.
“Get out of here!”
With a powerful movement of his hands, the vines hurled the lion far away into the forest.
The beast disappeared into the trees.
Silence returned.
Shinuha immediately rushed toward the unconscious boy.
“Hey! Wake up!”
There was no response.
Shinuha looked around and noticed a small pond nearby.
He quickly ran to it, collected some cold water in his hands, and returned.
He gently sprinkled the water onto the boy's face.
For a few seconds, nothing happened.
Then—
The boy moved.
His eyes slowly opened.
He groaned and pushed himself into a sitting position.
Shinuha sighed with relief.
“Are you okay?”
The boy looked at him silently.
Shinuha studied him.
Something was strange.
The boy didn't look completely human.
There was something unusual about his appearance that Shinuha had never seen before.
“Who are you?” Shinuha asked. “And where are you from?”
The boy didn't answer.
He simply stared at Shinuha.
Shinuha became confused.
He turned his attention toward the magical Chat connection inside his mind.
“Chat, who is that boy?”
The response came almost immediately.
“He is an evil devil. He came from the Devil Kingdom.”
Shinuha froze.
“A devil?”
He looked back at the boy.
“Who are these evil devils?”
Chat began explaining a history that had been forgotten by generations.
“Long ago, devils lived secretly among humans. Humanity didn't know they existed.”
“But eventually, humans discovered them.”
“And when they did, fear and hatred spread.”
“At that time, the devils possessed no magic or supernatural abilities. They were completely defenseless.”
“Humans hunted them.”
“The devils were forced to flee deep into dark, unexplored forests where humans couldn't reach them.”
Shinuha listened in silence.
He was shocked.
He had never heard this history before.
Slowly, he began to understand why the devils hated humans.
Humanity had shown them no mercy.
Shinuha looked back at the boy.
“Devil boy… what is your name?”
The boy slowly raised his head.
“My name is…”
He paused.
“Zenkai.”
“Zenkai?”
The boy nodded.
Shinuha continued.
“Why did you come all the way here? Why were you traveling through this forest alone?”
Zenkai lowered his head.
“I escaped from my kingdom.”
Shinuha frowned.
“Why?”
Zenkai was silent for a moment.
Then he began explaining.
“When our ancestors were driven deep into the forests, their helplessness eventually turned into anger.”
“And from that anger…”
“Dark magical powers awakened within our people.”
Shinuha listened carefully.
“From that moment onward, our kingdom had only one goal.”
“War.”
“A massive war against humanity.”
Zenkai clenched his fists.
“But our kingdom changed.”
“Now, strength is everything.”
“Anyone who doesn't possess strong magic is considered useless.”
Shinuha's expression became serious.
Zenkai continued.
“And those who are considered useless…”
He looked down.
“Are sentenced to death.”
Shinuha's eyes widened.
“You?”
Zenkai nodded.
“I didn't have any powers.”
“So they sentenced me to death.”
“I had no choice.”
“I escaped.”
“But while I was running through the forest, I became weak and exhausted.”
“Then that lion attacked me.”
Zenkai looked toward Shinuha.
“If you hadn't come…”
He stopped.
“I would have died.”
Shinuha remained silent.
Then he asked,
“So you really don't have any powers?”
Zenkai slowly shook his head.
“None.”
Shinuha thought for a moment.
Then an idea came to him.
“I think I know how to awaken your power.”
Zenkai looked at him.
“What?”
Shinuha immediately contacted Chat.
“Chat, can his power be awakened?”
Chat scanned Zenkai's body.
A moment later, the answer came.
“He possesses an enormous amount of dormant power hidden deep within his body.”
Shinuha's eyes widened.
“How can we awaken it?”
“His dormant power is connected to intense emotions.”
“Which emotion?”
“Extreme sadness or extreme anger.”
Shinuha looked at Zenkai.
He knew what he had to do.
But he wasn't sure how Zenkai would react.
Shinuha deliberately began speaking harshly.
He insulted Zenkai's weakness.
He told him that having no power made him useless.
The words were painful.
Zenkai's expression slowly changed.
His eyes filled with tears.
“Why…”
His voice trembled.
“Why does everyone talk to me like this?”
A tear rolled down his cheek.
Then—
BOOM!
A strange aura suddenly erupted from Zenkai's body.
The ground beneath him began trembling.
Shinuha's eyes widened.
The same phenomenon.
It was exactly like what had happened when his own power had awakened.
But something was different.
No trees grew.
No plants appeared.
Instead, an enormous pressure filled the surrounding area.
Shinuha smiled.
“I did it!”
Zenkai looked at him in confusion.
“What happened to me?”
Shinuha explained everything.
He told Zenkai that his power had been dormant and that the intense sadness had triggered its awakening.
Zenkai stared at his hands.
“I…”
“I have power?”
Shinuha nodded.
Zenkai's expression suddenly transformed.
His sadness disappeared.
He jumped up.
“I HAVE POWER!”
He began celebrating excitedly.
“I have power! I'm not powerless anymore!”
Shinuha smiled at him.
Then he turned toward Chat.
“Chat, what exactly is his power?”
There was a short silence.
Then Chat replied.
“His dormant power is immense.”
Shinuha waited.
“What happens if he learns to control it?”
Chat's next words stunned him.
“If he gains complete control over his power, he will become the strongest entity in the world.”
Shinuha's eyes widened.
“The strongest…?”
Zenkai looked at Shinuha with admiration.
He suddenly stepped closer.
“Master…”
Shinuha blinked.
“What?”
“Will you become my master?”
Shinuha immediately shook his head.
“No. I'm not worthy of being anyone's master.”
“But I want you to be my master!”
“No.”
“Please!”
“No.”
“Please!”
Zenkai refused to give up.
After several attempts, Shinuha finally sighed.
“Fine.”
He smiled.
“I'll be your master.”
Zenkai's face lit up.
“Really?!”
Shinuha nodded.
“Really.”
From that moment onward, Zenkai proudly called Shinuha Master.
As night slowly fell over the forest, Shinuha took Zenkai with him.
The two began walking toward Shinuha's home.
Neither of them knew it yet—
but their meeting would become the beginning of something far greater than either of them could imagine.
This keeps the mystery and pacing tighter, while leaving room for the next part of Chapter 2 to introduce the next major event.
