It was Sunday, a day Noah usually loved. This one however, was not quite going as planned. Crispy orange and red leaves crunched under his feet as he ran through the park. As far as the eye could see, gorgeous trees lined the path. Behind him however . . .The ground groaned in agony, dirt spilling out of a spider web of razor thin cracks trailing his steps.
“I JUST WANT TO TALK” A gigantic behemoth of a man, with what appeared to be a large pom pom ball perched on his shoulder, said, racing after Noah. Noah didn’t respond to the man's request, as he was currently preoccupied with trying not to fall into the ravine forming behind him. Reality shook, and splintered apart as an electric blue portal ripped into the air in front of him with a *CRACK*.
Noah sprinted forward, practically leaping into the portal face first. The moment he entered the world shifted. Now, he was gazing at a wide, open ocean, with crashing waves covering everything save a small pile of rocks and debris below him. Wait, below him? Noah dropped, his stomach doing the same as he plummeted into the black waters below. The cold hit him like a brick wall, the water slamming him to a freezing halt.
Noah thrashed violently, trying to rip himself from the ocean's grip. His head burst above the water, a thick, pillow-like mist covered everything in sight. Noah thought the rocks were behind him, but his view of them was obscured by the fog. He swam desperately, arms ripping through the waves as he barely managed to keep his head above the black water. Noah felt like hours had passed before he saw the first sign of debris, but it had likely only been a few minutes.
He lurched forward, grabbing onto the broken half of a wooden plank, and pulled himself out of the water, wrapping his arms around it. He half crawled across the plank, reached the rocks behind it, and collapsed.
