Chapter 1:

I'll prove it!

Vamp monthly

The dark back room of the cathedral is not as welcoming as the sanctuary's bright tall ceilings with beautiful angel paintings and clouds. The smaller back room back wall has monitors flipping through feeds quickly. The light from there bounces off the creamy yellow walls. There is a long wooden table in the middle and the only chair is occupied by Aba at all times.

"What's the job today boss." I say sipping on my coffee.

Aba swivels on his rolly chair to fling a magazine to me. His black void of a hooded cloak covers everything but his bandaged finger tips. I catch the magazine and set my coffee down. The front of the Vamp monthly magazine has my long time celebrity crush on it. Edweed Millimum, his long blonde hair is half up and his piercing blood red eyes are staring right at me. His hand and arm are going up through his white shirt to show off his impeccable-.

"I need you to stake him." Aba's voice is tender yet deep, breaking my fangirl moment into millions upon millions of pieces.

"WHAT!?" I shout slamming the magazine and my hands on the table. Nearly spilling my coffee in the process.

"He is abducting woman and will soon start killing them." Aba states.

"Ain't no way! Edweed, my," I cough elegantly into my fist to compose myself for all us fans out there, "our Edweed?"

"Yes-" Aba gets cut off.

I continue. "The one that donates most of his earnings to charity for sick and orphaned kids?"

"Ye-"

"The Edweed that volunteers in his parents soup kitchens for the homeless? In the same facility where those homeless people are getting help to be back on their feet no less."

"Y-"

"Edweed lives a very modest lifestyle just so he can give his earnings to the one's in need. There is no way a caring compassionate man like that would be abducting woman and killing them!" I huff. "He comes from the Millimum clan for your sake! His great great great great grandpa Edward started the clan to establish peace amongst humans and vampires. He started the only drink blood from donations and donated money to orphanages and then he started his own and other helpful organizations. Then in family tradition they passed the charity business to the eldest son, which was Edwaurd, then to Edwin, then Edwardo, then Edwood, then Edweedo and soon Edweed will inherit the clan."

"You done cutting me off?" Aba asks tapping his finger on the table.

"Sorry. I just, there is no way, I can prove it!" I plead.

"Very well. Then you are tasked with finding the missing woman." Aba says sliding an envelope across the table. But before I can reach it, he slides it back. "If you find proof of Edweed abducting and killing these woman. What will you do?"

"I will have no choice but to bring him in or put him down. With the powers I was gifted with from my parents, it is my duty as a hunter." I state leaning and snatching the envelope. "I'll be off then to clear his name though."

Leaving the cathedral I head for home since I didn't want anyone else reading these files. The one story two bedroom dark house looks like it's squating between the taller more colorful two story houses. The tall grass inside the iron fence needs mowing again and the iron front door squeaks when I open it. Better oil that soon. The cream colored interior from the previous owner helps make my red couch and chair stand out in the living room off to the left. Setting my coffee and papers down on the coffee table, I begin going through the files.

Detective files stating of how they can't make any of the charges stick and pictures of woman missing cover the table. The files start with guys that bullied Edweed in school turning up on a riverbank and their wives going missing. There were three of them in total. Files state that Edweed had an alibi every time, his personal secretary at an event or family dinners, along with papers upon papers of how Edweed forgave them all at a young age in counseling. Which lines up with his speeches he gives kids in school on how to deal with bullies.

The first three woman, the wives of the old classmates, look nothing alike but after those three... The woman all seem to be blonde hair, blue eyes and fair skinned. A total of nine women from nine different towns. They all disappeared around the time Edweed had a charity event in the area is why authorities looked into him as a suspect or one of his volunteers. All the volunteers though are on a sign up basis and none of them worked every time a woman went missing. If they only missed a few events they were in their hometown helping their own community. Meaning they couldn't have done it.

"I see why people would think it's him but there has to be more. Like a stalker of his?" I continue to think out loud. "He is popular and these events are advertised a solid month in advance so it would make sense for that to happen. So some twisted person is out there... Guess I need to grab my gear and get over to Newblank for Edweed's charity event he is holding tonight."

Getting ready was easy by wearing my black leather pants and a red tank top with simple makeup to make my hazel eyes pop along with a quick brush of my brown hair, I walk out of my house with confidence. With my gear and money in my enchanted bag I head for the waypoints in the middle of town. The town square has four circular waypoints all lit up with fire over the engravings. All I have to say is Newblank and I'm there because I have stepped onto the waypoint there before.

Their town is much bigger and more busy than Bellamy. The charity is themed off a festival or a carnival with its games, food and shows. Many of the people are in their best dresses and shirts while walking the packed roads. Kids are running through the people with their sugary sweet food in hand.

"I wonder if there will be fireworks." I murmur while letting all the scents and noise consume me.

"If you wish for them I just might tell them to set some off." I deep velvety voice whispers near my ear.

I didn't realize I let my guard down that much for someone to stand behind me. I try to move but trip over something. The man grabs my wrist turning me just enough to see it's Edweed before he reaches his other arm around my waist. He fully catches me and brings me to himself.

"Careful. You might not be my type but I can't have you busting your face or hands open. Your blood smells divine. I fear for your safety if your blood where to spill around these... other vampires." Edweed says too quiet for me to hear since my blood pressure has spiked from adrenaline and all I can hear is my heart beat.

"Uh-huh." Is all I can muster to say to my dream crush holding me in his arms.

"I think I just might know a way to keep the others away from you though." Edweed says standing me up and taking a step back. Then he bows before me. "Will you please do me the honor and be a volunteer for the holy water dunk tank?"

I mildly panic at the handsome man bowing before me. My hands flail a little bit as I try to get words out that he doesn't have to bow.

"Yes! I'll volunteer. Just, please lift your head." I stutter the whole time.

"Excellent!" He springs up and claps his hands.

He leads the way while I nervously babble on and on about his good deeds. Also how he over came his bullies with a lot more elegance than I did in school.

"There was a time Matilda "accidentally" turned the bullies into bull frogs in spell casting class. She hid the accident with a well acted sneeze. They got changed back right away but it was the talk of the school for awhile. Lots of guys asked them what it was like and they would turn red and run off." I reminisce of high-school.

"Not the best route but no one was harmed and it was well hidden. Don't tell anyone that I also find that funny." He whispers holding his long finger to his thin lips.

"Your secret is safe with me." I giggle. "There was this one time Chelsea and I mowed through them during a sparring session near the end of school. We got half credit with a scolding that we over powered them a little too much."

"Ahhh bullies are never very strong are they? They try to use their mental games to make you feel inferior to them. That you are too weak or not smart enough to fight against them. Also doesn't help most of them have family that can help get them out of trouble or create your life a living hell." Edweed sighs.

"Yes! Those girls abused their power. Isn't that why you started the hard facts organization with private detectives to help the kids being bullied in school? Ones that get the hard facts so the bullies couldn't worm their way out of punishment?"

"Yes. If my speeches don't work to inspire the young then we sadly have to resort to the public court system. No one should have to go through bullying." Edweed clenches his fist to his chest with passion.

"No they should not!" I agree. "That's why I attend these charity events when I can. My work schedule is a bit hectic some times. Making it so I can't preorder your private shows."

"Then I am glad we ran into each other today. I have many fans that sweet talk me but none have been sincere as you. It's like destiny brought us together." Edweed says slowing our walk to a stop by the holy water dunk tank.

"I wouldn't go that far." I nervously laugh. "Not going to lie I do buy any vamp monthly magazines if you are on the cover." I hid my face in my hands.

"Haha no need to be shy there. You've said you have gone to many of these events. Which has been your favorite so far?" Edweed asks grabbing a stand of my brown shoulder length hair.

"I, uh, um this one?" I can feel the heat in my face as he twirls the strand of hair. I try to pull my hands away from my face. "I've been to a few formal ones that I didn't really enjoy, the people, I didn't enjoy all the snobby people there. The ones on the festival theme are more my speed since they bring back memories of my family when it was whole.. before the funeral."

"I'm sorry my dear." Edweed leans in kissing my hair.

I try speaking but Edweed's secretary walks up placing a hand on his shoulder. They must be talking telepathically because the secretary makes a few faces before Edweed sighs.

"Seems I must preform my private speech. Sadly I could not get you a chair in there since it is packed and I would hate to have you sit in the dark in the back. If at all possible, I would like to know more about you after your volunteer hours are up? Wait for me to get back?" Edweed's velvety voice draws me into a mindless head bob of an agreement. With a smile and a kiss to my hand, he waves goodbye.
