Chapter 0:
Stuck in Time
A 24 year old woman was laying on her own blood in a silent alleyway of London while it was pouring.
She stared up at the sky, feeling defeated as the thoughts of fighting for her remaining breath never occured to her anymore.
She was attacked, presumably by a monster called a vampire she only heard in rumors and tales of older people. In the year 1400s, you have nothing to entertain yourself but with tales and for some, intimacy.
It was painful, yet all she can do was let her tears and blood mix with the rain. Her body was growing colder by second and she could feel her heart beating slower as time went by.
She thought about her family, her friends, her fiance and her whole life as she closed her eyes.
It was like sleeping as you drowned in the ocean with no more strength to swam up.
However, she surprisingly awoke. Gasping for air as if she really drowned as she sat up.
She was alive. "I'm... alive..." She muttered.
It felt like a long sleep with no chance of waking up but here she was, fully awake, fully alive.
She jumped when she heard the door open and a nurse came in, the woman got confused as the sight of the newly arrived nurse made her hungry. As if she was craving something.
She can smell something sweet around the nurse but didn't point it out.
"You're finally awake. You've been out for a few days that the doctor thought you were dead." The nurse smiled as she approached with a basin and a towel in her arms.
The smell became even clearer, but she snapped out of it when the nurse asked for her name.
"Jenillyn Lenore..."
"Nice to meet you." The nurse smiled.
A moment of silence passed before the woman spoke again, "You smell sweet..." Jenillyn finally mentioned.
"Sweet?" The nurse asked, she was confused but she continued tending to Jenillyn.
Jenillyn didn't answer further when the nurse took notice of her condition, "Oh... you're still so cold and pale..."
Jenillyn was just as confused by her condition, especially the hunger. The closer the nurse was, the hungrier she got.
Her instincts snapped when the woman leaned forward to wipe her other arm, the nurse's neck was right in front of her like a steak on a silver platter.
And so...
"I took a bite of that woman and had my most savory meal of all. More than when I was alive." Jenillyn told her new prey who was cowering by the tree.
It was already 1725 and Jenillyn, the same woman mentioned before, was living for approximately 300 years now. She wouldn't know the exact years as she doesn't count how many had passed anymore. She never cared to count by the time she reached a hundred.
She stared at her new meal with those lifeless red eyes, both are lacking of life just like herself.
"P-Please... Please don't kill me..." The man cried.
Just earlier, this same man was flirting with her at the tavern, saying that he wanted a taste of her. So, she smirked and said that she would most likely eat him up.
And there they are now.
Jenillyn sighed and rolled her eyes, "You men just never listen... I thought you wanted to get to know me." She giggled and crawled towards him, not caring that her elegant gown was dirtied by dirt and blood.
"You're not as sweet and savory like my first meal but... you will do." She muttered before pouncing on the poor man who screamed in pain and tried to fight the vampire who has monstrous strength even though it was useless.
Jenillyn continued to drink him up, ignoring the noise and squirming, knowing it'll all disappear soon and just as she expected, she had taken the man's life.
The woman sighed in satisfaction and also exasperation, "He was supposed to be my toy for the next few years." She muttered to herself as she stood up and stared at the cadaver. She didn't mind the mess on her mouth and chin, even the ones on her hands and dress.
She hummed to herself, thinking of what to do now. She knows she'll be bored enough to hunt again since this might cause the authorities to investigate... again.
Then she have to move... again.
Then had to eat... again.
It was a never ending repetitive cycle that makes her go spiral but can only stare down the lifeless man as of right now.
Jenillyn snapped out of her dark thoughts as she saw a bright blue light from deep in the forest which disappeared almost immediately. One may think it was the villagers' torches but no, Jenillyn is pretty familiar to what those looked like and she did not care if it may be the villagers hunting her.
The vampiress followed where the light came from, her movement's unrushed as she navigated through the forest.
She wasn't expecting anything more, tired of being disappointed over the years of finding something that could make her feel alive. Not that she was.
Jenillyn was a bit stunned when she smelled a human though. Their blood was very potent, meaning they're wounded.
The vampiress rolled her eyes, she just ate and now she felt annoyed that she killed the earlier man when she could've been served an injured one on a silver platter.
She sighed, she tends to practice not crying over spilled milk especially when the cycle continues in her long years of living.
Jenillyn swat a branch away and saw the injured human passed out on the ground.
It was a man, a handsome young one.
"Explains the sweet aroma..." She muttered to herself and observed the human more.
Yes, he's dirty and all grubby, but the vampire found something strange.
The man was wearing clothes she's never seen before, and there's a strange sparkling device nearby, which she doesn't know what for and is very curious as to what it is.
A grin slowly appeared on Jenillyn's face as she found her new entertainment.
"You're coming home with me, pet." She giggled before taking the man and his device back to her manor.
