Looking at the hatch Damon had left open, Diana decided to stop thinking about it.
If he could be understood or guessed so easily, he would not be Damon Keller.
Diana turned to find Antiope and ask about the defenses. She had only taken a few steps when a scream rang out in the distance.
"Something happened."
Diana's expression hardened, and she rushed toward the sound.
The cry woke the others one after another. Hera, Zola, Laurie, Lilah, and Valentina all ran out. The moment they emerged, they saw flames rising in the distance, like a wall of fire lighting up all of Themyscira.
"What happened?" Lilah asked an Amazon warrior running past her.
"That is our alarm. Someone has invaded."
The Amazon answered quickly and kept running.
Lilah looked at Valentina. The two instantly merged into Firestorm and flew into the air.
Enemies surged toward them in dense waves. Each had the head of a beast and the body of a human, like demons crawling up from hell. The Amazon warriors fought bravely, but they were outnumbered and gradually forced back. Blood spilled across the ground. Pools of it seemed to ripple, and from within them, more monsters crawled out.
"That is the sea's power. The sea has sided with the First Born? No. The First Born killed the sea."
Hera's expression changed slightly.
By "the sea," she meant Poseidon, god of the sea.
Zeus, king of the gods, Hades, lord of the Underworld, and Poseidon, god of the sea, were of the same generation. Long ago, after Zeus drove the First Born into the depths of the earth, he had ordered Poseidon to guard the First Born's equipment and Hades to guard the exit.
In the end, the First Born had not only crawled out, but reclaimed his equipment and begun slaughtering the gods.
Seeing these beast-headed monsters, and seeing them use blood as a passage to emerge, made the answer clear.
Hades and Poseidon had probably already...
If even they had not survived, the gods of Olympus had likely been wiped out.
Who could still stop the First Born now?
"Damon. Go notify Damon."
Hera shouted at Laurie.
Laurie paused, then ran toward the Disciple.
She had barely reached it when Damon walked out. Seeing the chaos outside, he frowned.
"They really cannot let anyone rest. Watch the Disciple."
Damon gave Laurie that instruction, then transformed into Firestorm and flew out.
In the darkness, two Firestorms streaked through the air. Flames exploded and burned among the monsters, coiling around them like ropes of fire and trapping them so they could not break free. Damon rose into the sky, lightning flickering all around him like a descending god. Then he struck down.
Bang. Bang. Bang.
Bolts of lightning struck the monsters with perfect precision, not harming a single Amazon warrior.
Diana looked up at Damon in the air, the corner of her mouth lifting slightly. She slammed her bracers together and smashed forward. Golden divine power surged out like a wave, instantly reducing the monsters ahead of her to ash. Hephaestus's sword left its sheath, and Diana leaped high, landing in a more distant part of the battlefield.
"For the Amazons!"
"For the Amazons!"
The Amazon warriors shouted and fought with courage. Even when someone beside them fell, not one of them took half a step back.
"Are you not going to help?" Zola asked Hera while holding the child.
Hera had recovered her divine power, yet she remained still.
Hera shook her head and said nothing.
"You want them to slaughter every Amazon? Do not forget, the First Born will not spare you, and Damon will not spare you either."
Zola shouted in anger.
Hera still said nothing.
Then, suddenly, a hatred so vast it seemed to change heaven and earth erupted.
From the blood, a towering monster slowly emerged.
He stood more than two meters tall. His dark red body had no skin, as if only raw flesh remained. Two long horns like dragon fangs jutted from the backs of his hands. Something like a cloak hung behind him, yet it seemed fused to his body, while several black, tentacle-like strands drifted and writhed around him.
His face was almost impossible to identify now, and horn-like growths rose from his head.
"The... First Born?"
Diana stared at him in shock.
It had not even been a day.
When she last saw him, he had been rough and savage, but at least he had still looked human. Now he had completely become a monster. In one day, he had killed Apollo, who had become king of the gods, slaughtered the gods of Olympus, and possibly killed Poseidon and Hades as well.
How strong was he now?
Diana drew a deep breath, shouted, and slashed at the First Born.
The black tentacles behind him suddenly lengthened and struck Diana down instantly, then wrapped around her.
They were not the Lasso of Truth, but Diana felt her strength and life draining away rapidly.
Pierce. Pierce. Pierce.
The First Born's tentacles opened in an instant. One Amazon warrior after another was impaled. Their bodies withered rapidly until only skeletons remained, slowly falling to the ground before the First Born crushed them without hesitation.
Diana struggled and swung Hephaestus's sword, cutting through the tentacles and dropping to the ground. But she was immediately swallowed by the monsters.
By the time Diana drove the monsters back and caught up, the First Born had already reached the square and placed a hand on Hippolyta's head.
"Let her go!"
Diana shouted in panic and charged.
The First Born's blood-red eyes looked at the approaching Diana with cold cruelty.
"All must die. I do not want to be king of the gods. I will kill all of you and become the only existence."
As he spoke, his fingers tightened.
"No!"
Diana shouted in despair.
A streak of fire arrived in front of the First Born.
"She still owes me a horse. I cannot let you crush her like that."
Damon punched, instantly driving the First Born back.
Diana let out a long breath and hurried over.
Good. Her mother was not...
The thought had not even finished when she suddenly saw the stone statue of Hippolyta stand up. Blue light shone from her eyes.
"What... what is this?"
"Diana."
The stone Hippolyta looked at Diana with a vivid, gentle expression.
"Mother, you..."
"I do not know."
Hippolyta understood what Diana wanted to ask. She shook her head slightly and picked up a spear from the ground.
"I only know that Themyscira will not be violated."
An atmosphere of absolute resolve spread instantly. Diana's expression became solemn, and the surrounding Amazons were inspired as well.
"About that... I have violated it."
At the height of that fighting spirit, Damon said it lazily.
