Chapter 4:

Chapter 4: A Brief Incident

Cecilia

Were you aware, dear imaginary viewer, that despite the logo, the constellation Subaru is made up of seven stars, and not six? Unless the idea was that the seventh star is you, the driver, the car logo is rather silly, I suppose. This being said, the reason a car was on my mind rather than a motorcycle was that I almost got hit by one, well, I did get hit, but due to inhuman reasons, I wasn't hurt, so I lied about getting hit in the first place to the driver as to keep a sense of normalcy.

[This woman, Cecilia, has once explained her best interpretation of her powers. However, as she doesn't fully understand them herself, she finds it rather annoying to redo that explanation.

I'd argue that's far more silly than a logo missing a star. Cecilia repeats herself often, knowing that if she enjoyed talking about it before, the chances were that she'd enjoy it again. This also means that she would seldom ever repeat something she didn't like saying.

To try and offer an explanation myself. She has a sort of 'battery' that allows her to repair herself whenever needed. This battery is fueled by blood, and it is what has kept her alive for so long.]

Now I had to deal with two pains, the one from getting struck by a two ton vehicle going about forty miles an hour. Using Newton's laws, we can infer that I was hit with a bunch of newtons of force. Ow.

The second pain is my incessant hunger, I would've taken a drink from that driver if the crash into me didn't cause such a scene. Not out of vengeance or anything, it's just harder to keep in control of your emotions when you get hit by a car. Not that'd I know or anything. Afterall, the driver had stopped just in time.

I had forgotten how I ended up here, perhaps I was too excited about the future? Even so, the next time I see her, there's so much I wish to ask, so much I would like to learn. If only I could go back and had stayed there just a bit longer.

"Are you okay miss?" a man asked with a tone of concern.

Oh that's right, reality.

"Splendid." I took a deep breath, and turned to face him with my closed at first before opening them with a forced kind expression, the kind of expression that reads "leave me alone, please." It's not everyday someone interrupts you thinking to yourself, and I rather enjoy this habit of mine.

As I got back to my feet I continued, "I feel rather... surprised. For a moment there, I had believed I was about to get struck; it is truly a miracle that I am left here unscathed."

"That's a relief, I was sure I had it hit you there." the driver laughed to himself awkwardly, "Is there anything I can do for you miss? Again, I am so so sorry about that, I didn't notice the light had changed."

The man also appeared panicked, and it made sense as to why. But even then, I doubted his sincerity. The way his eyes kept darting back to his car made me think all he wanted to do was get back on the road, but he needed to smooth things over first.

I was already annoyed plenty at the lingering pain in my side from the collision, but for this driver to believe that people genuinely cared about whether or not he 'did the right thing' in this predicament was bothering me the most.

"You know, there is something, although I imagine asking would be a tad strange."

"Anything. What did you want to know? I can drive you to a hospital if you need."

"Thank you, but there would be no need. Rather, might I ask if you know about any job openings nearby? You see, I am new here and I forgot that I would need to find work if I wished to stay."

I gave a tired smile. The pain had begun to subside but that only meant a tiredness would wash over me. The shock of getting hurt was leaving me too I suppose. Perhaps that's why my mind felt clear now, if a bit empty.

I only have two thoughts right now, Lauren, blood, and sleep. I guess that's three, but I get the idea. It's broad daylight and quite a few people are around, so ignore the second. To pursue the first, I would need to remember what it meant to live, and to live is to spend money on stuff. I can sleep after I submit an application, and maybe buy some real pillows while I'm at it.

"Uh... miss? Are you sure you're okay?" His hand waved itself in front of my face, and his face, wasn't mine. Wait, what am I saying? Right, he looked worried, and my eyes felt heavy.

"Of course, I think it must be the shock or... something similar."

"The offer's still up to take you to see a doctor if you need. But as I was saying, in case you didn't hear, the convenience store down the street is hiring but I don't think it'll be enough for a living on it's own."

"Convenient store, perfect. Rather convenient. Thank you. Which way?"

He lifted his pointer finger hesitantly, and said "Just up the street, at the end there with all the gas pumps."

I gave a wave and started walking over with a limp in my step.
