Chapter 1:

Dravibe begins

DRAVIBE

In 10,000 BCE

A group of people travelled across dry land at night, and they kept travelling... travelling... travelling.

This group of people called themselves DRAVIBE. They searched for a place to live because the land was dry and they could not grow crops.

While travelling, they entered a foggy area. All the people in the group began to fear the fog, and the leader of the group shouted in anger, "பின்னோக்கிச் செல்லினும், இவ்விடத்தை விட்டு அகன்றிடுவோம்" (Move backwards; let's leave this place as quickly as possible)

They heard the sound of a drum beating; the second sound was an unknown, scary scream, and the sound surrounded them. Suddenly A large, shadow-like figure appeared, combining the forms of a woman and a man; one had horns, and the other had wings. The group became frightened and started to get a bad feeling.

A small boy cried as he trembled, afraid of the surroundings. "Mother, I am afraid! Let us leave this place, " said the boy. His mother comforted him by saying, "I shall protect you; do not feel afraid! Even death comes nearer"

The leader feels that he has committed a wrong; because of the leader, they are suffering a lot. The fog began to get heavier. When time changed, even heavier for only the leader, which made him kneel down and it started to get heavy for the people too.

The leader of the group began praying for mercy to enter their area without permission. The group also began doing what the leader did, praying. A lonely mountain appeared. The mountain was so fresh and beautiful, with green trees, lovely birds, deer, and all other living beings, except humans and their souls.DRAVIBE decided to live there and worship the mountain.

DRAVIBE would live in the middle part of the mountain; then worship would take place at the top of the mountain. When the prayers began, rain fell and water suddenly started flowing from the bottom of the mountain. After the leader's death, his son wanted to  become the leader, but people of Dravibe does not want. People want to select their leader based on their favour and the number of supporters he has, but his son does not want this kind of non-biased selection, so he decides to play the role of a monarch to separate them, so he can experience the feel of the mountain and go to some places that normal people are not allowed to.

Some people believed in his son and his father, so he went to them. (The people want to separate the god, so they can worship the god as two, but the god does not want to separate, right? So we have to save the god) This exact concept made DRAVIBE collapse and they divided into three groups.

The Aarayars worshipped the god for a good life, food, and water at the top of the mountain. They were also superior to the others because, without them, there would be no water or food, and the son of DRAVIBE's leader was their leader.

The Velars lived in the middle part of the mountain. They only collected food and gave it to the upper group, which treated them like trash. The people elected a person to be the leader of the Velars.

The Neerars lived at the bottom of the mountain, where all the water flowed and was stored. The third group supplied water to the middle and upper groups, and food was obtained by farming the land beneath the mountain.

After More Centuries

A boy was standing at the edge of a rock when a strong breeze began to blow against him, and the bell rang at the top of the mountain, and it sounded like a person screaming which echoes over the mountain .

The boy realized that the rain is coming! and ran towards his house. He opened the door and shouted, "It's raining!". A voice came from a closed room: Mara, don't go. Don't be like them. A deep voice slowly descended the stairs. "Mani... if you don't want to go stay , but society won't. It's for god. The house fell completely silent.

The deep voice said, "Mara, go and get the tool, and tell your mom this too. Mara said, "Okay, Dad," and walked towards his parents' room.

The Velars gathered around Mara's house, knelt down, and shouted, "Leader... come to life; God is waiting."

Mara's dad came out of his house, and everyone took their tools and descended the mountain. The Neerars welcomed them and gave them half of the food they had harvested and the water they had collected. The Velars carried all these supplies to the top of the mountain.

The Aarayars were waiting for the Velars at the entrance. The Velars arrived and handed over all the supplies to them. The leader of the Aarayars approached, looked at the supplies and the people who had brought them, and said, "Where is your wife's brother, my dear leader of the Velars? Hahaha."

Mara's dad said, "He hasn't come. We're leaving now."

The leader of the Aarayars said, "He should worship us because we worship the god, and the god gives us water because of our prayers."

Mara's dad said, "In DRAVIBE, we do not worship humans. There is God, and anyone can worship God. Be careful what you say: if I DIE, he will be the next leader, or my son will be."

The leader of the Aarayars said, "Shut up! Think twice before you speak."

Mara's dad said, "I just said what the people of DRAVIBE did."

The leader of the Aarayars said, "Let's move from here. Let's see what happens to the Velars."

The Aarayars walked away, and the Velars also left the place.

When Mara and his parents reached home, his uncle was leaving with a backpack.

Mara ran towards his uncle and asked, "Uncle, where are you going?"

His uncle patted Mara's head and said, "I'm leaving this place and going down to live."

Mara's mother said, "What are you thinking? This is not the place, nor is this the right time, Mani."

Mara's uncle did not say anything and began to walk away. As he walked, he looked at Mara's dad, knelt down, and said, "Sorry."

Mara's dad did not say anything.

Mani continued walking away. Mara and his mother cried out, "Dad, call him back, please!"

Mara's dad stood there, watching Mani as he walked away.

After a year

A few Velars began moving from the middle part of the mountain to the bottom.

One day :-

Mara was standing on the balcony when a person came running towards his house.

Mara opened the door and asked what had happened. The person replied, "Mani died of a heart attack."

Mara shouted in  sobbing voice, "Mama... Papa..."

Mara's mother began to cry after hearing the news, and Mara's dad's eyes turned red and filled with tears.

Mara and a few other people tried to bring Mani's body to the middle part of the mountain, but his body became heavy, and some people got hurt while carrying it.

After they brought Mani home, everyone in the house cried, and Mara could not bear the sight. He came out of the house and stood at the edge. He saw a dog howling and the weather changing. He looked at the dog, then slowly turned his gaze towards Mani, and realised that something was wrong with this mountain.

10,000 BCE

A group of people were travelling across dry land at night, and they kept on travelling... travelling... travelling.

This group of people called themselves DRAVIBE. They were searching for a place to live because the land was dry, and they could not grow crops.

They tried to move backwards, but that area was also covered in fog.

They tried to walk away from the place and they could not leave the place; it seemed as though they kept coming back to the same place.

They heard the sound of a drum beating, the second sound was an unknown scary scream and the sound surrounded them.

A large, shadow-like figure appeared, combining the forms of a woman and a man; one had horns, and the other had wings. The group became frightened and started to get a bad feeling.

A small boy crying “அன்னையே! யான் அஞ்சுகின்றேன்! இவ்விடத்தினின்று அகல்வோம்! ”( mother, i am afraid! Let us leave this place!”)

His mother “யான் நின்னைக் காப்பேன்; அஞ்சேல்! அதன்பொருட்டு என் உயிர் நீங்கினும்! ” (I shall protect you; fear not! Even if my life should depart for that cause! )

The leader said to himself “யான் பிழை புரிந்தேனென எனக்குத் தோன்றுகின்றது; என்னால் அவர் துயருறுகின்றனர்! ” (I feel that I have committed a wrong; because of me, they suffer! )

The leader of the group knelt down and began praying for mercy and permission to enter their area. The group also began doing what the leader did: kneeling down and praying.

The fog began to move, and a lonely mountain appeared.

The mountain was so fresh and beautiful, with green trees, lovely birds, deer, and all other living beings, except humans and their mother.

DRAVIBE decided to live there and worship the mountain.

DRAVIBE would live in the middle part of the mountain, and worship would take place at the top of the mountain. When the prayers began, heavy rain fell, and water suddenly started flowing from the bottom of the mountain.

After the leader's death, his son became the leader.

People want to vote for a leader, but his son does not want to, so he decide play a mind game to separate them so he can control an area.

Some people believed his son,so he went to them and said “The bottom people want to us to stop praying so they can pray and have all this place into their control” and this made a fight between themselves.

Which made DRAVIBE collapse.

The Aarayars worshipped the god for a good life, food, and water at the top of the mountain.

The Velars lived in the middle part of the mountain. They only collected food and gave it to the upper group.

The Neerars lived at the bottom of the mountain, where all the water flowed and was stored.

A bell rang at the top of the mountain, and it sounded like a person screaming.

The boy shouted, "The rain is coming!" and ran towards his house. He opened the door and the familiar voice made him stand in shock.

A voice came from a closed room “No… this should not be happening again."

A voice came from a closed room "Mara, don't go. Don't be like them."

A deep voice slowly descended the stairs. "Mani... if you don't want to go, STAY, but velars will not stop. It's is god choice."

Mani came out of the room.

Mara “Dad.”

Mani “huhhhh….velars.”

Mara's dad came down the stairs and stared at mani and the head of Mani was dashing with Mara's dad's chest and Mani had no dare to look at Mara's dad,so he looked down.

The house fell completely silent.

The deep voice said, "Mara, go and get the tool, and tell your mom this too."

Mara with a worried nodded the earth and walked towards his parents' room. The Velars gathered around Mara's house, knelt down, and shouted, "தலைவா! உயிர்பெற்று எழுந்தருள்வாய்! இறைவன் உனக்காகக் காத்திருக்கின்றான்!" ("Leader... come to life; God is waiting.")

Mara's dad came out of his house, and everyone took their tools and descended the mountain. The Neerars welcomed them and gave them half of the food they had harvested and the water they had collected. The Velars carried all these supplies to the top of the mountain.

Mara and a few other people tried to bring Mani's body to the middle part of the mountain, but his body became heavy, and some people got hurt while carrying it.

They could not bring Mani up, so they decided to bring people down where Mani lived. Everyone in the house cried, and Mara could not bear the sight.

He came out of the house and saw a dog howling towards the mountain and the weather started to change.

He looked at the dog, then slowly turned his gaze towards Mani, and realised that something was wrong with this mountain.Everything was dark.

Slowly, Mara opened his eyes and blinked. He looked down and saw that he was floating in the water, and the water looked red and dark. Mara rotated his body from left to right and found that he was locked in by a big round wall around him.

Mara said to himself, "Where am I? This looks so strange… Last time I was…? Where… I… was last time? I could not remember where I was."

Mara shouted, "Mom… Dad… Mo-"

The place started to shake. Mara got afraid and started to shout, "Mom, help me… Dad, help me!" The place started to shake even more, and the water started to pull him downwards.

Afraid, he shouted, "Uncle, help me!" The place stopped shaking, and stairs appeared from the wall. Mara looked confused and walked towards the stairs. They looked transparent, but when he placed his hand on them, they could withstand his weight.

He took his first step on the stairs, and when he reached halfway up, he heard a familiar voice at the bottom of the wall. When he tried to look down, suddenly heavy rain started. He got afraid and looked up, and lots of rainwater fell in Mara's eyes, so he closed them. The rain made the stairs slippery, and Mara slipped and fell down. While falling, he saw the figure of his uncle, and he closed his eyes.

Mara opened his eyes and took many short breaths. He looked around and realised that he was inside his house. He took a deep breath and walked down the room to the kitchen, where his grandma and mother were cooking.

Mara said, "Good morning, Mom and Grandma."

Mara's mother said, "Good morning, Mara," and she was busy cooking the food.

Mara's grandma said, "Good morning, Mara," and looked at Mara. "Why do you look dull? Is anything wrong?"

Mara's face started to change (pre-cry face).

Grandma came near Mara and hugged him. "Don't worry, everything will be fine. I am there for you."

Mara hugged his grandma back and cried as much as he could. "Grandma, why is accepting reality hard?" He started to cry.

Mara's mom looked back and was shocked. "What happened? Why are you crying?" She hugged him too.

Mara's mom said, "Who told you that people accept reality? Nobody accepts reality. They try to forget, and actually they will forget it, and the non-forgotten part will become the reality."

Mara cried out loud and told her what things had happened in his dream.

Mara's mom said, "Do not worry…" A strong wind dashed at the window and damaged it, and the sound of the damage echoed through the house.

Mara and Mara's mom stood in shock, and thunder struck. Waves under the mountain reached Mara's house, and the place started to get dark.

A deep voice came from outside the house: "தலைவா! உயிர்பெற்று எழுந்தருள்வாய்! இறைவன் உனக்காகக் காத்திருக்கின்றான்!" ("Leader... come to life; God is waiting.")

Mara and Mara's mom understood what was going on. Mara's dad came down. "What are you guys doing, standing there? Keep moving."

Mara's dad came out of the house, and some people gave positive words about Mani to Mara's dad.started to move downwards on the mountain, and were greeted by the Neerars' leader.

While everybody was taking the grains and supplies, the leader of the Velar and the leader of the Neerars were talking in secret, and Mara's dad held both hands of the Neerars' leader. It seemed to be a request.

Mara, taking grains and speaking with his friends, noticed the connection between his dad and the Neerars' leader. He felt a suspicious feeling.

Mara's mom called Mara to come there and said, "Mara, go call your dad. People are ready to go."

Mara went to his dad, and when he came near, they both stopped talking, and Mara's dad asked, "What do you want?"

Mara said, "Dad, people are waiting for you."

Mara's dad said, "Okay, we will see you later, Mister Varman." They both shook hands.

The Velar people started to move upward on the mountain.

The people of the Aarayars were waiting for the Velar at the border with small bells in their hands. At that time, the Velar people also reached the border. The Velar people put down all the supplies at the border.

The Aarayars' leader said, "How is Mani?"

Mara gave a death stare, clenched his hand, and ran towards the Aarayars' leader to punch him. He raised his hand, and at that moment Mara's dad held Mara's shirt collar and pulled him back, and he fell down.

Mara picked up a small rock from the ground.

Mara's dad said, "You know what things are happening, and you know about Mani."

The Aarayars' leader said in shock, "What… sending a small boy to punch me? I am God's chosen child to pray for him, and you, small rat, you know what will happen if you punc-"

Mara's dad said, "SHUT UP. I tried to give respect to the leader's position, not to you, and if Mara had not raised his hand, surely I would have raised mine."

The Aarayars' leader said, "You guys are making a mistake like Mani. Even though Mani was my old friend, now shame on him, and I purely hate him. He does not like our god and does not supply food for god, and he keeps on saying that god is a killer."

Mara's dad said, "I AM GIVING UP MY LEADER POSITION. My family and I are going to follow Mani's path."

Everybody looked at Mara's dad with a shocked expression. The Aarayars' leader said, "Are you serious? If you give up the leader position, you and your family will be given the name of betrayers, and if a leader gives up the position, the two leaders must choose a person for the leader in that group, which is mentioned in DRAVIBE."

Mara's dad said, "I know, and if someone wants to leave this Velar, this is the best time and place."

Mara and Mara's family started to walk away, and some people also started to walk away with them, and some people stayed there.

Mara stopped walking and looked at them from the corner of his eyes. Mara turned towards them and threw the rock at the bell, and the rock hit the bell. Mara's mom dragged him from the place, and even while walking, Mara kept looking at them with anger.

A girl among the Aarayars clenched her hand in anger.

DRAVIBE
