Chapter 4:

My own pace

Archive 2 - Once again, nightmare begins

The next day I attended the school. The school looked quite grand, mostly because it looks shiny. The first lesson was split to 2 different classes, I had the choice to choose between learning fighting, I have no idea why they had that for a royal blooded school, and the other class is just basic learning.

I obviously went for the fighting, and as I sort of suspected, there aren’t anybody in the class. The person who was teaching fighting here was Konota. I wasn’t surprised, I did expect it since I didn’t see anyone else that looked like they would fight.

Then I suddenly heard the door swing open behind me, I jumped a bit. I turned around to see another student, a girl, around 1 year older than me. “Who is this little child, were you lost?” the girl asked. “I didn’t get lost, I chose to learn fighting,” I replied. “A Royal blooded other than me learning how to fight? Interesting, never met anyone who wanted to learn fighting themselves, especially a girl,” the girl said. “My name is Denela,” she continued.

“FOR THE FIRST LESSON,” Konota shouted. “We are going to learn how to parry attacks or dodge them, basically what to do when you are about to get hit,” Konota continued. She then taught us how to parry and dodge some of the attacks that may occur in a real fight. Konota brought us to a field nearby the school.

About 30 minutes of teaching us basic things to dodging in fights, Konota asked Denela and I to fight. If any of us got hurt it would be fine since Konota brought something that could heal us.

We got ready at our positions. Konota was the judge and counted down from 3. Immediately when Konota said start, I heard a swish type of sound, and I turned around to see Denela behind me. I can feel her power, it was incredibly high. Can a human even have that high of a power? Denela held a sword, a worn out sword, it wasn’t rusted or anything, it was just chipped.

“Jimen no pachipachi” Denela shouted. (Jimne no pachipachi means ‘ground crackle’) I didn’t know what was going to come next, so I moved to the side, dodged whatever was going to come next. Denela’s sword hit the ground and right after that was a slight pause. I then heard a rumbling cracking sound. It sounded like it was coming from below. I checked at my feet and I see a crack.

I moved away and jumped from the crack. As soon as I jumped away, the ground was cut and broken in a “X” shape that looks deep. “Amazing that you could dodge not only my sword hit, but the ‘Jimen no pachipachi’ as well. Not to talk about you sensing my power,” Denela said whilst pointing her sword to me. She then suddenly dissapeared from my view. I felt a strong cold on my spin from behind, I turned around to see a sword coming towards me.

A whistle sound is heard “STOP” Konota shouted while blowing a whistle. Denela won. “Denela has won the match, if I would have let the match go on, there is no saying what would happen,” Konota said.

“I think you are the first one that ever dodged my ‘jimen no pachipachi’,” Denela said. I asked Denela on what does ‘jimen no pachipachi’ is. She answered that it is a technique where it uses magic to break through the ground and break it into an X-shape that goes quite deep.

I also asked her how she got behind me incredibly fast. She said that it was a speed step. Speed steps are basically moving a short distance in a very short amount of time. “Ask Konota about it, she might teach you if she thinks you can. Oh! And when the second time I speed stepped behind you, your power, I could feel that it was raging, you have incredibly high potential, well that is what I think,” Denela said.

Denela then headed back to class. “Why didn’t you use your fighting technique?” Konota asked. I replied saying, I don’t really know how to control it, nor use it. Konota didn’t really say anything, she just shook her head and head back to the class. I followed up behind Konota.

When we return back to class, it had already been more than an hour. I realised that I was late for my next class. I rushed over to the next class on the roof.

The next class was about learning about Sun and about the Moon, and the stars. I wasn’t sure why we had to be on the roof, I heard that we were on the roof because the teacher of this class stays at school on the roof. I didn’t really care then since it has nothing to do with me.

The day went on as normal like an actual school from what I know, but the cafeteria, I couldn’t tell if we were standing in a castle or a cafeteria. It was clean and shiny. I almost couldn’t tell that I was going to eat food or attend an important wedding. The table and chairs look quite fancy from what I seen. The chairs and tables my father and I owned look plain and is made out of wood. The table here, I don’t even know what it is made about.

The next day, as normal school went on and I was in fighting lessons. Denela was there as I expected. Konota was also there as usual. Konota just thought us more on what we learned about dodging and evading hits.

When I was on the way to a store nearby to buy food, I heard a sound of something or someone rustling in something, I checked behind the store and it was a dumpster. I went to check the dumpster, it was a little racoon, it probably was hungry. If I could meet the racoon later, I would probably give it some food that I bought from the store.

As soon as I thought of that, the racoon died. I then sensed a huge block of power coming from the front. I couldn’t stand up anymore from the power I can sense, it was almost as if sensing the power was good enough to defeat me. Then I can barely see Konota came out of no where and slashed the beast or whatever that thing is.

“Norowareta blade” Konota said. Then instantly followed by cutting the beast thing five times in the same place. The beast thing instantly died. “Norowareta blade, if it cuts the enemy in the same place 5 times, it will instantly kill whatever it is, doesn’t matter if it is immortal,” Konota said.

So that is what Norowareta blade is. Konota aided me and helped me get up. I then ask her what was that beast thing. The beast looks like a monster with muscles for brain and looks like they have a half mask, something like what my father gave me, but what my father gave me look like a quarter of a mask instead. “Those creatures are called ‘Masked Ones’,” Konota said. “They are not a thing you should mess around with, and when you feel like you are about to loose to a power pressure like that, you have to train harder,” Konota replied. Power pressure? I asked Konota what that was. “You felt like you are about to loose right? From just sensing the power from the Masked One, that is power pressure,” Konota answered.

With that, I want to try to find a way to fight, because as of now, I have no means to fight. I only have the ability to cover up myself with an image of someones nightmare, and if I am speaking of the Masked Ones, I don’t even know if they have a nightmare nor a thought process.

The next day I attended classes as usual and I asked Konota to teach me how to fight. “I refuse,” Konota replied. I was confused, I asked her why not. “First, I can tell by you standing that you aren’t a capable of using a sword, maybe you could handle a knife but a knife against the Masked Ones, which I presume that you want to fight them or defend against, a knife would be almost as if you are fighting with a feather,” Konota replied.

“If you want to fight, you have to learn how to use the thing you used the first time we battle, the move that made my sword burn up,” Konota continued. I asked her how am I suppose to use it if I don’t know how to control it, I don’t even know what that was. “You have to figure it out yourself,” Konota replied. She then continues with teaching the Denela and I somethings that we will come across in a real battle.

She thought us that the opponent might bring a gun and that if we aren’t careful, we might just get shot in a vital area. She then follows up that we can block the bullet if we use our fighting techniques. Denela can use ‘Jimen no pachipachi’ towards the bullet or use it in the group to build a small wall up. She doesn’t mention what I could do, maybe it was already obvious that I could just burn the bullet.

It was a Saturday so I didn’t have to attend school. I tried wearing the mask again to see if I can reach the voices within me. When I wore the mask, I managed to reach the voice for my magic. “You are back, well then, how may be of use for you?” the voice of my magic spoke. I replied saying that I need to speak with the voice of my fighting technique.

The voice of my magic left and I find myself in a field, then I hear, “What do you want know? Do you think you can defeat me as of now? It would take maybe another 2 years for you to be able to fight me in a normal battle, but by then I don’t think you would still have a chance of wining,” the voice of my fighting technique spoke. I asked how do I use the fighting technique.

“You have to defeat me in a battle,” said the voice. I agree to fight it so I can find the ground at which where the voice belongs. It took a physical form of a shadow looking figure. It grabbed a sword and held it in a stance, ready to fight. “What weapon would you use?” it asked. I responded for a sword.

A sword fell from above and almost hit me, landing in front of me. Both of us got ready to fight. The shadow figure counted down and when the count down was over, the figure came at me with high speed straight, as if it wasn’t even moving but hovering across the ground.
