Chapter 33


She realizes that she messed up. Ban also thought the same thing. They realizes that he(Light) will know that they knew about what they talked about a few minutes ago. She starts feel like as if she will be thrown into hell. She starts to shake again. He(Light) remains silent and looks at them intensely while touching his chin with exactly three of his(Light) finger with his right hand for like a minute. He was doing that while he was sitting on a chair. Light was thinking of something. She gets a bit scared as she got a feeling that he(Light) will remember it. Ban wasn't as scared as her. But he was also expecting the worst

She thought to herself [Did he figure it out? Did he find out that we are lying? Will he asks Ban about why he(Ban) told me about hell?] 

Her heart starts beating really fast in fear of thrown into hell and of him(Light) realizing that they are not telling the truth. As time goes her fear of being found out increases. Even though she was dead as a soul her heart was beating really fast.

He(Light) hears what she said sometimes ago and it has been already a few minutes. Ban gets tried of standing and waiting for him to talk or reply. So he(Ban) sits down on chair beside him(Ban).

Right after he(Ban) sat down on that chair Light stops touching his chin.

He(Light) looks at him and replies to him :"Sorry for doubting you. I figured it out. You are not lying to me. "

Ban and Natsumi both of them feels relieved after hearing that he(Light) believed in him(Ban). 

Ban takes a breath of relief and replies to him(Light) with a smile :"Thank goodness."

Natsumi was also relieved. She takes a breath. She also thought to herself [That was really close. I already thought that he will figure it out. But by this we have just somehow avoid going to hell.]

Ban thought to himself [He somehow believed in us. I guess we survived because of his (Light) stupidness.] 
But he(Ban) was still curious about what he(Light) was thinking at that time while touching his(Light) chin with that intense look on his(Light) eyes. 

So he(Ban) asks him(Light) :"What you were thinking when you were touching your chin with that intense looks on your eyes?"

Light didn't expect that question. He replies to him :"Oh! About that I was giving you a signal to sit down on the chair. So I could told you that I figured it out." 

Light after saying that realize that does mean that he(Ban) didn't understand his(Light) signal. So he(Ban) didn't receive the signal. He thought he received his signal. 
He(Light) continues :"Wait, that means you didn't get the signal I tried to gave you. Don't tell me you didn't understand that I was giving you a signal?"

Ban was a bit disappointed in himself after hearing that from him(Light). Though the signal he(Light) was giving could have been no other thing other than him just thinking. 

Ban replies to him :"No, I didn't. I wasn't sure that you were giving a signal to me."

Light was disappointed in him. Light replies to him(Ban) :"I am really disappointed on you. I thought you will get it since you have known me for all this time. I am... really disappointed in you."

Natsumi feel their conversation a bit weird. She gets angry at him(Light) because he(Light) thought that ban would get this signal of him. It was a stupid signal. Nobody would have thought that it is a signal for him(Ban) to sit down. As someone who is normal, she found it pretty weird and gets a bit angry because of that.

She replies to him(Light) with angry voice :"How could someone would think or understand that it is a signal of someone touching his own chin with intense looking eye?!! Even I thought that you were thinking of something."

Ban replies to her :"Don't get angry. I was just joking. I understand that's he was giving me a signal for me to sit down"

Light smiles. He(Light) then lifts his(Light) chin up. He(Light) crossed his(Light) arms over his(Light) chest. He(Light) then replies to him(Ban) with prideful voice :"As I thought. That's the man I chose for to become my substitute God."

Natsumi thought to herself [Who was the person who said that he is disappointed on him(Ban)?]

He(Ban) then replies to him(Light) with a smile on his face :"I am not someone who should have your praise."

Light replies to him :"That's not a big deal. Also I wasn't praising you. I was praising myself for choosing someone like you to be my substitute."

Ban thought to himself after hearing that from him(Light) [I should have realized that]

Natsumi was surprised by hearing that from him(Ban). She couldn't believe in it. She was puzzled. Since he(Ban) already told that he(Ban) didn't get the signal once. And weren't he was disappointed of Ban.

She looks back at him(Ban) and she asks him(Ban) :"Ban, did you really understand that he was giving you a signal?"

Ban replies to her :"Yes. I really did understand his signal. Though it took me more than three minutes. At first, I wasn't really sure if he really was meaning to give me a signal that means to seat down on the chair until I finally sit down"
Natsumi thought to herself hearing that [Then why did you asks him about that?]

Ban replies to her :"It's because I wasn't sure about that."

Ban heard what she just thought. It is not because he read her mind but it's because she just said that without knowing that she was asking him(Ban). She said what she was thinking without realizing. Natsumi was surprised by realizing that. But it wasn't the only she wanted to ask. She had one more thing that was bugging her mind.

She asks him (Ban) about that one more thing :"You could have just read his mind to be sure about that. Why didn't you do it? Or did you knew what he was thinking from the start?"

Ban was surprised by seeing that she could come upon this idea or possibility of how he may have already known that from the start.

Ban looks at her with surprised face and replies to her questions :"I didn't thought that someone who is new in here would actually think of a possibility like this." 

She asks him :"Why?"

He replies to her :"Since it is pretty rare. Let me tell you the truth then. The truth is, I really wasn't sure about what the signal he was giving meant for. But I did read his mind before he gave or made that signal. He was thinking that if I doesn't understand what his signal means you would get angry or if he disrespected me for not understanding what his signal meant you would still get angry. So I just test it out by saying that."

Light gets more proudful for choosing him to be his (Light) substitute. He comes behind him (Ban) with his instant teleportation ability. While being behind him (Ban) he (Light) also pat his (Ban) head with his (Light) right hand. 

While patting his (Ban) head with his (Light) hand he also replies to him (Ban) :"That's my boy for you."

Ban wasn't very comfortable with his (Ban) head been patted with his (Light) hand. 

He replies to him (Light) :"Umm... how do I say it?... It just that I am feeling a bit uncomfortable by having you patting my head. It's kinda weird. Could you stop patting my head?"

Light gives a gentle smile and replies to him while he (Light) was patting his (Ban) head :"I refuse." He (Light) continued patting his (Ban) head.

Natsumi kind of feels down because she was just tested. So she replies to him (Ban) with a stoic and expressionless face :"So you just did all of this just to see my expression and if he was right. Heh?"

Ban looks at her and replies to her :"I am really sorry. If you are mad at me because of that, please forgive me. I thought if I didn't do that Light might later make fun of you or mess with you to find what will be the reaction to that kind of thing or other thing. Because you know. Because of that. I can't say it out loud. But I think you understand what I am trying to say to you."

Natsumi replies to him with stoic face :"So that's why you did that. You didn't have to apologize to me because of that"

Light feels a lot rude for Ban to think that he (Light) would mess with her for that kind of reason. 

Light replies to him with that sane gentle smile and while patting his (Ban) head :"I think you are being kind of rude to me."

Ban replies to her :"I am sorry."

He continues :"I guess then it's fine to say it now. I am not sure if I have ever told you this. But if I haven't then let me tell you this Time. Welcome to the paradise that all of the humans and all the other living beings wishes to live in. Welcome to the heaven."
