Chapter 8:

Chapter 8

Transmigrated Into a Noble's Beaten Son

"Just do what I did Naell. Focus your mana on the ball, then your element will show itself."

Naell was about to place his hand on the ball, but he felt fear as he knew the glass ball was quite costly.

"How much should I put in anyway?"

Sebastian heartily let out a laugh.

"You don't need to worry about that. When determining one's element, you should pour as much as you can control so that even the weakest affinity you have, will be seen."

"Hohoho--- And this thing is a good mana conductor that can even absorb high-rank mages' mana with ease."

Naell with a sigh of relief, placed both of his palms on the crystallized ball. As he exerted a lot of mana, the clear ball was then filled with two bright distinct colors. Yet before he could even look at his Sensei, a creak followed by the leaking smell of acrid burnt plastic and strands of white mana, seeped through the cracks of the crystallized ball.

.

.

.

"Sensei, I..." Naell was the first to respond. He got paler and scared as he knew the ball was quite expensive.

He wanted to apologize and quickly perform dogeza but his body then felt heavy as his mind felt lighter. He staggered as he all of a sudden felt dizzy.

"..."

Sebastian was at a loss for words. Breaking the crystal ball like that meant Naell's mana was above the high-ranking mages and on par with the named mages. He took into account that the young master possessed white mana. Still, he was confident that the ball wouldn't break, since newly awakened mages should have a hard time handling mana to their fullest.

'Not to mention, Naell cannot use elemental magic.'

Of course, high-rank mages like Sebastian could destroy the ball if they chose to via their elemental magic or directly penetrating one side.

'Naell did nothing like that. He did it normally.' Sebastian saw how Naell put mana to test his elemental magic. He then remembered how the young mage easily pulled off the mana shield and levitation which both made him gasp.

'That was incredible but... This should’ve been different.' As Sebastian was deep in thought, he heard the staggering voice of Naell. He saw him looking frail and exhausted, barely maintaining his position.

Sebastian then hastily approached Naell from the side, guiding his back to lie down. He sensed no abnormality with the young mage's mana being replenished normally.

"Naell, are you ok?"

"Sensei, I'm sorry..."

"You need not be, I'm to blame. I've failed to notice your control and mana is above than expected."

"But still, it's quite expensi---"

Sebastian then with a smile, reassuringly said,

"Do not worry about it. Having a student like you is way more valuable than one ball, Hohoho."

They decided to take a break before going back to training. After some time, Naell recovered and seated facing his Sensei. The damaged ball was already poofed out by Sebastian.

"Naell, just as I thought, your elemental magic is just like your mom’s. It is water and wind and you both have a high affinity towards it."

Before it cracked, they managed to see a strong gust of wind and flowing deep blue water, clashing against each other.

"I hope I can learn ice and snow as well, Sensei."

Elemental magic can further be improved by a mage as they study or gain an understanding of their element. For example, a standard fire and wind elemental mage can produce a blue flame. Fire and water can produce steam. Some could even develop a unique elemental magic, like Sebastian's snow that even Alicia could barely do.

"Hohoho, your mom at first, was really terrible with mana control. She just blasted everything since she couldn't lower her output. She had a hard time producing ice since she lacked control, causing both of her affinities to then clash with each other."

"...I can imagine how hard it was for you Sensei."

"Not at all, Hohoho."

Naell smiled, still looking tired after what happened. Sebastian noticed it but still, he sensed no problem with his mana.

'Is it possible...?' As Sebastian was pondering about Naell's condition, he decided to end their training and go to a doctor to properly assess his student's condition.

*******

Doctors in their world also specialize in different fields, such as mages who can heal, aura artists who are better at detecting abnormalities and enemies than mages, and the normal doctors who perform surgeries.

'I forgot...' Naell was a bit stiff when he entered the clinic together with his Sensei. The hospital in the Beryldot estate was at the center of its territory.

Three doctors and three assistants were responsible for that clinic, and it wasn't that shabby since Baron Fharom made sure it could house 3 families at once. The white 3 floored clinic was also managed by two renowned A-rank adventurers. The aura master, Drew aka the [Front Assassin] and his wife, the light mage, Andrea.

Sebastian was quite annoyed at how the couple was still affectionately holding hands while examining Naell. He could not help but agree with the rumors. It was said that often, cured patients of the two would contract a new disease, called BITTERNESS.

'The protagonist's parents...'

Sebastian saw a stiff and fidgeting Naell as they were greeted by the tall and scruffy Drew, while it was Andrea who asked the troubled young mage.

"Young master, are you ok?"

Naell flinched as he knew the lovey-dovey couple that was described in the book, were past veterans of war. A small pat on the back meant spiral paralysis. A thorough examination could certainly mean a hard execution.

The Sunheart lovey-dovey couple were both odd monsters in their own way.

Andrea Sunheart was known for her capabilities as a light mage. She was also an orange-yellow mage that was rumored to become the [Sun Witch] just like her good friend, Alicia. But because of her no death policy, she became a healer.

Even so, there was once a time, Andrea used her power of sun rays, to obliterate a fortress of the undead upon learning her friends were harmed by them.

Drew Sunheart was famous for his mastery over aura detection. But he didn't like it one bit because usually, an expert in the aura of intent specialized in assassination, detection, or stealth. That was why with his greatsword that complimented his lack of aura in strength, Drew became known as someone who searches for the strong and battles in front as a barbarian.

Martial artists could have the mastery of two specializations; the [ aura of STRENGTH ] for coating one's body or weapon with aura, and the [ aura of INTENT ] for detection, stealth, and assassination.

"Ma'am… Sire, I'm sorry for bullying your son and future daugh--- friends."

"Hohoho"

Drew and Andrea calmly patted Naell's hair as they laughed warmly.

Drew loudly declared as he grinned childishly.

"Naell, that was a long time ago. And a kid's feud at that! I remember always fighting your da--- Bharom with silly things. HAHAHA !"

*cough*

Sebastian could only cough at Drew's response.

The lovey-dovey couple saw the still worried Naell so Drew added on,

"But if it still worries you, we forgive you."

Drew was a tall looking guy who had black spiky crew cut hair matching his neatly trimmed beard. His bright brown eyes and wide large smile was either good for kids or terrifying for enemies.

On the other hand, Andrea had wavy melon colored hair; she had warm orange eyes that fit her innocent smile, which either looked warm to kids, but like hell to her enemies.

Andrea added as she proudly puffed her chest with reddened cheeks.

"We are sorry too... My son, Anrew actually was at fault too. That was why I gave him a good scolding after your duel!"

Both of them knew of their kids’ feud last summer. They even went to apologize to their good friend, Baron Fharom, which resulted in both of them being scolded since it was not Andrew's fault in the first place.

They actually blamed themselves with that feud since they thought Naell bullied Andrew and his friends because of them--- them that should have protected his mom.

They could still clearly remember the last time they saw the cheeky cheerful Alicia…

I should probably go with you Acia. Rew can take care of Anrew -

No! Both of you take care of my nephew! Besides, I'll be back before you know it. And stop shortcutting names already, you blindingly sunny crybaby. Hehehe~ -

The two of them should have gone as Baroness Alicia's personal guard.

Alicia actually kept nagging them to go, so she wouldn’t be bored with Sebastian who seemed so excited to sightsee historical places. But in the end, they could not go because Andrew at that time was sick. They then heard the news of how their good friend depleted all her mana to freeze an entire explosion.

They could still remember the innocent young Naell, who in the blink of an eye, turned into a vicious kid who hated the nobles for being so powerless, and blamed all the commoners for the terrorists’ act.

"Besides... We are just happy to know you've... You are okay." Andrea couldn't finish her sentence without tears clouding her vision. She mostly blamed herself for her best friend's death.

'If only I was there.'

She constantly heard those phrases in her thoughts even until then.

She could have prevented her death. Even Fharom didn’t blame them, yet she could never move on from that guilt.

That was why when they heard the rumor that after Naell's beating, he was changing back into a good kid, she could only cry even if she wanted to see Naell and ask for his forgiveness.

"Thank you, Sire, Ma'am--- and you don't really need to apologize. You have done nothing wrong."

Andrea immediately hugged Naell while wailing and saying,

"Why can't Acia be as good as you, young master Nell! She was a bully who kept calling me a crybaby!"

"Honey, stop that, you're choking Naell!"

Sebastian could only sigh at the scene of a teary eyed Drew removing Andrea's bear hug from the out of breath Naell.

After some time, they finally managed to calm the wailing Andrea.

Drew and Andrea sat together facing Naell who was seated on the patients' bed, whereas Sebastian chose to remain standing.

Drew then got to the point of Naell's condition.

"Nae--- Young master, there are three possibilities as to why you are feeling tired after using too much mana."

"You can just call me Naell, Uncle."

"Ahem! ok. HAHAHA !" After clearing his throat with a fake cough, Drew continued speaking with frequent hand gestures.

"First, your mana control is terrible that you exceed your limit without the ability to replenish your mana normally. But that case is impossible since Sensei told me your mana control is way better than his. Nay, all high-rank mages."

Pointing to Sebastian who gave out a hearty---

"Hohoho"

"Second, it can be because your mana is lacking. But alas, that too is impossible as you are a white mage, the purest one."

Then it was Andrea who finally said what they thought was wrong with the young mage.

"We think it is because your body could not handle your mana."

*sigh*

Sebastian could not help but speak since he was pondering about it for a while.

"I suspected that was the case, but to think Naell and Alicia could be so different."

"What do you mean, Sensei?" Andrea decided to ask while both Drew and Naell's curious gazes were both with Sebastian.

"Well, Alicia's body was so strong she could summon a tsunami and a hurricane to different battlefields while LAUGHING, yet she would've had a hard time maintaining small magic like water droplets because her mana output control was just bad."

"HAHAHA ! I can imagine her haggard look with those water droplets when you were training her. She often plotted revenge against you, Sensei."

"HOHOHO" Sebastian after laughing got serious as he said these words,

"Naell's mana is--- I think, on par with the dragons."

.

.

.

Drew, Andrea, and Naell were shocked at the revelation. Dragons were the races that upon birth were already immensely powerful.

Naell was shocked as he thought,

'Dragon-like control means dragon-like trouble!'

Andrea was the first to respond, still shocked by the revelation.

"Sensei, why do you think so?"

"At first, I had my doubts but Naell's control is incredible." Sebastian then started discussing how Naell learned most things on the first try and how he had broken the crystallized ball before realizing something was wrong.

"..."

Drew's jaw dropped starting from the first explanation while Andrea got paler.

Naell then got chills upon seeing the three of them looking at him.

"What should I do?"

Drew could only stare while Andrea with a smile patted Naell's hair.

"Sorry Nell, even we have no idea how powerful dragon mana is. Remember, white mana is the purest mana, so if your control is like a dragon’s, it means you need the body of a dragon."

Drew nodded in agreement while Naell got paler and fearful.

'Will I die?'

Before they could even say anything else, Sebastian hit Drew and Andrea's head with a CHOP and scolded them before turning his gaze to Naell.

"Naell, you should just control your mana and use less than 100%. I'm sure in time, your body will be able to cope up with your mana."

"Ohhh" Drew made a "that's a good point" gesture while Andrea was nodding childishly. Sebastian could only sigh and think how on earth these two got their licenses to become a doctor.

Sebastian then added while still concerned with the two adults who looked more troubling than the cheeky looking student of his.

"That is why starting tomorrow, I will begin teaching you elemental magic, so your body can get used to your mana!"

Naell in return, smiled cheekily and with reddened cheeks, shyly said,

"About that Sensei, I felt the sensation of my element when I used the ball... So I more or less could use water and wind now."

Naell then started using a low input of mana creating a small ball of water in his right hand and a small circular wind at his left.

"..."

The lovey-dovey couple could not hide their shock. Sebastian's face looked even more troubled than before.
