Chapter 8:

Calculated

Link-Up-Play

Second match ends 1-0 to Team 2 with a last minute goal from Austin's header that came from Eric's pass. As PE class ends with no third match as everyone has to go change back out of their PE kit into their regular clothes in the changing room, this normally takes around 10 minutes.

With Team 1 absolutely heated with frustration as they didn't get to play the second match against Team 2 and lost drastically in the only game they played. As Ruben wanted vengeance and Joe still questioning about Eric.

Everyone waited in the sweaty humid changing room for the bell to ring for lunch. Which eventually rung after 5 minutes of waiting.

Brrrrrrinnnnnnnggggg

They all rushed out of the changing room all bundled up into the narrow hallway, this for sure is a claustrophobic persons nightmare. Fortunately everyone got out of the cramped hallway with the teachers guidance as all the students walked out in a single file line.

...

All the students that are in year 10 all sat within the cafeteria normally in their friend groups again, enjoying their lunch and having weird conversations as a 14-15 year old.

Random conversations you would hear

''Would you have sex with your mum for 1 million?''

''Nah never''

''Maybe 10 billion?''

''Not 1 mill though that's too low''

''I'd do it for free if it's with your mum''

''Ohhhh my guy''

Fist bump

...

Lunch was coming to a close everyone was out of the cafeteria outside having their own group conversations just waiting for the next class... as the repeating bell rung again for the next class which was geography for Joe.

Joe's geography class had a similar vibe to his science class, he didn't really have any close friends within the class with Charlie and Jimmy the fellow fullbacks of the Auriel Academy football team being in the class with him, but they never really interacted that much off the pitch.

Jimmy came in with crouches with Charlie helping him carry his bag... all their classmates came up to Jimmy asked him ''What happened''

''I sprained my ankle last game, but it's fine''

Then Joe thought about what really did happen during that game...

''So Jimmy got injured, Eric came on and changed the game around''

Teacher came in, everyone sat down into the sitting plan as quick as possible... Geography teachers usually don't mess around as they get on with the class straight away unlike the other teachers and classes, if you mess around you would get sent straight out of the class.

''Everyone write down the date and title, today we will be learning about volcanoes''

''So tell me what do you know about volcanoes... Joe''

''Ummmmm... volcanoes formed in divergent and convergent plate boundaries''

''Very good Joe''

Geography was definitely not a strong subject for Joe he was pretty average at it, he'd only picked this subject as he was great at recognising flags and countries from playing FIFA, also pretty decent at plate tectonic and the formation of the earth, but hated rivers & waterfalls especially erosion stuff.

This class went by the fastest out of all, with 'interesting' topics every time and usually comes nearing the end of school with the bell going off for the second to last time... but there was one more class after this.

Joe dreaded this class, but it was the last class nevertheless this is his worse subject out of them all his understanding of this subject was pretty low. Joes brain was like a goldfish whenever he is in this class.

The last main topic out of English, Science... this was Maths.

Evidently Joe sat in front of the class due to his lack of understanding, needing the teachers help for extra support with low test scores as well, there was basically no hope for Joe to pass this class.

Maths teacher comes in with a familiar face

...

''So I would introduce to you guys our new student joining this maths class...''

''Eric''

Eric was previously in the class next door, much they didn't have the facilities as the class was full up to max capacity, so Eric had to move class and it seems like that he joined Joe's maths class.

''Also with the new addition of Eric the seating plan will be changed''

Everyone got assigned to a new seat with only Joe and Eric not having a seat, but there were plenty of window seats on the left side of the classroom... surprisingly Joe got assigned a window seat in the corner and Eric had to sit next to him.

''Looks like we meet again'' Joe looked towards the direction of Eric

''Oh you'' Eric replied back

''Yeah I'm terrible at maths, are you any good?'' Joe gloomily spoke

''I think I good at numbers''

''Would you help me improve in maths?''

''Sure Joe'' Eric gave a confident look towards Joe

Class started with a couple of simple worksheets, to sharpen the brain up. Joe took a couple of minutes to complete the worksheets with Eric's 'help' (it was just Eric showing the working outs and answers to Joe), Eric finished these worksheets in seconds.

''So Eric can you come up and solve this''

Eric stands up to the front of the class, teacher giving the black board pen to him to complete this maths question drawn on a whiteboard, which he does without hesitation easily finding the area and perimeter of a triangle.

''Well done Eric, can you tell us how you solved it''

''So area is bottom (base) multiplicar (multiplied) height divdir (divided) two''

''All side is adicional juntos (added together) for perimetro (perimeter)''

The maths teacher by coincidence understood Eric's Spanish mixed English as he did study a year in Spain, which was a bonus for Eric.

''Moy bien (Very good) Eric, you may go back to your seat''

...

Joe still struggled as always in maths, but with Eric beside him... he can look at him working out and answers for a further understanding. School was coming to a end, then Joe asked Eric something...

''Eric do you live near here''

''Yes?''

''So how far do you live from school''

''Maybe 12 minutos (minutes)''

''Oh that's pretty close I live 10 minutes away from here. Also Ruben is my next door neighbour''

''So do you wanna walk home together?''

''Sure''

...

Joe and Eric went to chill out in the refreshing park (that Eily broke up with Joe in) as Ruben had extra curriculum for English (Ruben struggled in English)

''So Eric how are you so good at Math?''

''hmm I had calcular (calculate) the exactitud/distancia (accuracy/distance) of football using maths''

''You really got everything calculated down huh''

Joe's understanding of this was lets say non existent, he'd usually just have fun playing football never having any worries with accuracy or distances of passing or shooting the ball.

Ruben shortly came afterwards interrupting their conversation, joining the party now a three man group. Ruben still down after that 3-0 loss to Michael, John and Dean during PE. Joe and Ruben needed answers to breakdown the three, so they asked Eric for advice.

''Eric I still don't know how you manage to accurately pinpoint pass directly using smooth precision on the ball?''

''I train lot back in Spain with Luka Modric, Toni Kroos'' Eric responded back to Ruben

''Modric...Kroos?'' Ruben questioned

''Yeah Ruben... Eric is a Real Madrid Academy player'' Joe answered

''Real Madrid?'' Ruben was indeed mind blown

''Fuck the coach didn't tell me that Eric was a galatico''

''He didn't tell me either, but I Eric told me during break''

''Maybe we might become a top 5 team in Manchester and finally dominate with Eric''

Joe is the worse player out of the two people next to him, Outside he had a smile of positivity, but on the inside he had built up frustration as he really wanted to become as good as the two next to him at football...

''Yeah we will definitely become a top 5 team now in Manchester, No in the whole of England''

(End of Volume 1)

With one month till summer break (training) begins...
