Chapter 9:

Kato's Letter

Blade: Belonging

I have been laying around in the armoury for a bit now. I managed to recover enough energy to sit up now. Takeo seems to be doing well in his duel, probably won't be out there for too long.

A few days have passed since I left my home village. Since I left without saying anything they are probably extremely worried and mad at me. Since there's time to spare, I might as well write a letter to them.

Hopefully, they won't try to come and get me. I looked around to find a piece of paper but there was none around. I managed to catch one of the nurses.

"Excuse me." She turned around to see who was talking to her.

"Yes?" She replied sweetly and smiled.

"Do you happen to have a piece of paper and envelope? I need to write a letter."

"Hmm, I do have paper, but I will have to take a look around for an envelope, I am sure we have a few laying around though. Excuse me for a moment." She smiled and went into the infirmary.

A few moments later she walked back out.

"Here, I assumed you would need a pen too so I grabbed you one. Hehe." She handed everything over with a cheerful smile.

"Thank you, I'll return the pen when I'm done." I bowed in appreciation and found a place to sit down and write.

"You know where to find me." She smiled and returned to the infirmary.

I began writing, though I'm not sure what to really put, I guess I'll just go with whatever would appeal to them the most. Since I don't like long letters, I'll keep it short and to the point.

"Dear Mio and Jin Maki,

It has only been a few days since I left the village and I know I left without a word, however, don't worry, everything is going well. I am currently in the capital Borwon, It's a very nice city. The people are nice and have helped me out often. I met a new friend and we share a room together.

There isn't much for you to worry about, I just wanted to let you know that it's all well. I have a job and I can support myself. I will come to visit when I manage to settle things down a bit more.

Sincerely,

K. Maki"

That should do. I try to keep the details to a minimum. Honestly, the less they know the better for me. Less chance of them trying to come and take me back.

There was a load of noise coming from the arena. I noticed a load of nurses running through the armoury out into the arena grounds. Seems like Takeo went rough on him. Glad to see he won.

However, despite the huge cheers the whole arena fell silent within a split second. I looked over to see what was happening. A large built guy wearing fancy red clothes stood behind Takeo.

It seemed as if they were talking, but it was hard to hear a word since they were so far away. Though their chat didn't last too long, the buff red guy left the arena and Takeo headed towards the armoury.

I tried asking him who it was, but he didn't seem interested in answering. Well, It's not like I cared anyway. I returned to writing down the address on the envelope so that it can be delivered.

Takeo wandered off somewhere when I wasn't looking. I wonder what's up with him. Probably has something to do with that buff red guy. But whatever, I will have to look into it a bit later. Firstly, I have to return this pen to the nurse.

I walked over to the infirmary, since I didn't want to be rude and disturb, I knocked on the door and hoped that the right nurse would come out.

The door slowly opened up and a nurse's head popped out. "Hello?" she asked, looking outside the door.

"Hey, I came to return this pen I borrowed from one of the nurses."

"Oh, do you know who it was, I can call her over for you." She replied happily.

"Umm, not really sure, since you all are wearing the same outfits."

"Haha, don't worry. I'll just see which one gave out a pen, give me a second please!" She smiled and closed the door.

The nurses seem to be very cheerful and polite, I guess that's because that's probably part of their job. Not long after the nurse left, the door opened up once again.

The nurse who lent me the pen popped her head out the door.

"I see you returned with the pen, hehe." She said happily. "You know you could have given it to the other nurse, right?"

"Ah, yeah, I could have, but I wanted to directly say thank you."

"Hehe, you're very welcome." She replied cheerfully.

I handed her the pen and asked "Can I ask for your name?"

"Fufu, aren't you getting a bit ahead of yourself, I only lent you a pen and some paper."

Ah, she's looking at it like that, makes sense, I am supposed to be a guy after all. I can't deny, she is very attractive though.

"Yeah, you're right, sorry." As I was about to walk away she spoke.

"Akko.", "My name is Akko." She smiled and returned back into the infirmary.

I didn't get to say goodbye, but hopefully, I will be able to see her around more. She seems like a nice person. From what it seems there is only one more fight left before they reveal the final results. Quite exciting.

I looked around a bit to find Takeo and maybe ask some questions but he seemed to have vanished into the air. Either way, he will have to come out of his hiding spot as soon as they call us out for the conclusion of the event.

Looking around I found a pretty nice spot to watch the arena from inside the armoury, since I can't find Takeo, I might as well enjoy myself watching the fight.
