Escape - The Twins

“Haa… haa….”

“Ha…”

The twins, Rayu and Yuri, were panting as they finally arrived at the nearby airport to hide from the man who had taken care of them since they were just infants.

It was a cloudy afternoon and they got lucky that the moment the man was feeding them, someone called him on his phone and looked like he got mad for some reason and gave the caller his full attention.

The twins were always locked in that room so they did not waste the chance and ran outside.

The man was kind and gentle to them but when they finally turned 9 years old, he started hurting and torturing them for his so called experiment.

“Quick! Here!” Rayu quickly entered the small lobby of an airport and gestured to her twin, Yuri, to quickly follow behind her.

Yuri quickly followed behind and guessed what her twin was thinking and said, “But we don’t have money!”

“It doesn’t matter! We need to escape!” Rayu whispered loudly and held her twin’s wrist and pulled her to where the passenger’s baggage were stored.

She was feeling really cautious since she thinks that the man might still be behind them and made sure to keep their heads lowered.

They crouched down, Rayu took the lead  and tried to make them camouflage with the baggage and hid her twin behind.

“Oh, lucky!” she exclaimed when she found a lost one-way ticket to another city and showed it to Yuri.

Yuri also showed a happy expression but once she cautiously looked back, she saw the man entering the airport and quickly crawled away with Rayu.

The ticket was actually purchased from a group of people but postponed their trip because of a change of mind.

The twin ended up in an abandoned room meant for the group, and found a leather box. When they walked closer towards it, they found a white bunny sitting there, looking like an abandoned child.

“Cute…” Rayu said and petted the rabbit’s white fur. Yuri, who was shy about showing her soft side for animals, petted the bunny lightly, feeling happy on the inside.

“Where are they!?” a familiar voice of a man echoed from outside which made them flinch and look at each other urgently.

It looked like they were having telepathy communication since Rayu immediately pointed to the couch, trying to say that they should hide there.

Yuri, who was about to run towards the couch, looked back at the abandoned rabbit, it looked like it wants to get carried and hide too. Somehow understanding the rabbit, Yuri lifted it up before hiding under the couch.

Because of their height only being 4’11 and having a petite size, they fitted under a normal-sized couch.

Rayu and Yuri heard the door burst open and saw from the small gap of the couch the figure of a man, who looked really mad and desperate.

The bare sight of that person made the twins shiver in fear. They held their hands together and just wished that this would all end.

The fact that they were only wearing a slightly bulky dress, almost looking like an above-the-knee maid dress, made the twins worry that a part of their dress might be sticking out, the man recognizing it since he customized it for them, and they will get caught.

Yuri was hugging the bunny really tight in her left arm. The bunny, who felt her shivering, licked her hand with his small tongue thinking that it would calm her down.

Feeling a cold texture licking her hand continuously, Yuri looked down and saw the bunny licking her hand which made her heart melt. Despite this situation, she still felt warm and hugged the bunny closer, and eventually cried out of desperateness.

Rayu, who saw all this, looked at her twin lovingly and caressed Yuri’s white hair and promised to herself that she will protect her twin no matter what.

Soon, the room finally went silent but the twin still cannot let their guards down and heave a sigh of relief.

They let 5 more minutes pass before coming out.

The room was clear.

‘Passengers of Plane Aueri, destined to Feru City, you can now board the plane.’

The twins focused their ears on the announcement and looked at each other meaningfully, before leaving the room and cautiously boarded the plane written on the ticket.

Before they even got to enter the plane, the flight attendant who was checking each passengers’ ticket asked them, “Hey, this ticket was purchased for 7 people, why are there only the two of you?”

The twin was caught off guard but Rayu quickly thought of an excuse, “Two of our group forgot something in their home and will not be able to make it for this flight. The other three changed their minds, leaving only us two.”

The employee was not a hundred percent convinced but seeing the white rabbit, he let the twin inside. He was informed that a pet will come along with a group of people which made it be the last straw to convince him.

The twin, along with the rabbit, finally arrived at Feru City and rented a room at a cheap apartment.

Time passed, they somehow felt relieved and happy, forgetting those painful memories with the man that hurt them every single day.

They also found out that the bunny was a human and animal hybrid, which can transform into human over time, when months passed after it was born.

However, they still have trouble financially, since they arrived in the city with nothing.

They were finding food in a seemingly abandoned and broken grocery store. The bunny was in his human form, with his bunny ears sticking out. His hair was also white, a good physique, and a loving personality.

The bunny was named Zireu, and was holding Yuri's hand and acting clingy. They were just twenty steps away from the exit when Rayu saw the man from their past, acting suspiciously at the end of the aisle where they were standing.

Rayu and Yuri, who also saw the man, almost had a heart attack and panicked. Seeing their surprised expression, Queru unconsciously held Yuri’s hand tightly.

‘We’re going to get caught again!’ they thought.

The man also caught his gaze onto them, making Yuri turn to Rayu and ask her to run, but her twin was nowhere to be found.

The man started to run towards them so the two ran away from him, circling on an aisle. They could have just exited the store, but the door was broken and therefore had a wooden block in it, and if they ran to exit, one of them would get caught, which they don’t want.

After rounds of circling on different aisles, the two felt tired and hid at the corner when the man was not looking.

“Where the fuck is Rayu!?” Yuri cannot help but get angry and whisper loudly. She knows that once Rayu panicked out of fear, she will follow her instinct, which was to live.

Yuri thought that with Rayu’s strong instinct to live, she might have run away and exited the store, leaving the two to the man.

What made her thought even convincing, is that when she turned to her twin earlier, she saw her figure running for a second before it disappeared.

Yuri can’t help but to feel mad and betrayed.

‘Now, how can we escape him for the second time?’ she asked herself.

The store strangely fell silent so the two looked at each other with confused expressions. Just earlier, the store was loud because of the chasing and once they hid in the corner the noisiness left.

Little did they know, the man was smirking in the middle of an aisle, holding someone precious.

The two decided to come out and just when they were about to exit, a thought ran into Yuri’s mind, making her look back.

‘No! She won’t leave us!’ In the end, Yuri still had faith in her twin and she was right. What she saw proved her thought.

The man was sitting on the floor, holding Rayu in his arms while smirking evilly. He was holding a pocket knife on his left hand, his left arm circling around Rayu’s shoulders, pointing the knife on her neck.

This made Rayu remember all the tortures she and her twin had gone through in this man, making her cry desperately.

A/N: I suddenly woke up in this part but I still tried to fall asleep and continue my dream, unfortunately, it was only just some scene and not a whole scenario so ‘-’ means a cut scene, straight from my dream.

Yuri was shocked and hopeless at the same time. No matter how much she wants to save her sister, there was still remnants of their tortured past living in her memories, making her shiver in fear again.

Queru was alarmed at the scenario, and noticed the shivering girl beside him. So, to save both of them from this man, he decided to run towards him with no weapons, only relying on his strength.

The man grinned and faced Queru head on, before they fought.

Rayu’s vision were blurry because of continuous crying, while Yuri was just spacing out, shivering in fear, with her heart beating fast also because of fear, seeing her tortured past with her twin, like it was happening now.
