Chapter 28:

Chapter 28)

Avalon

When the smoke cleared between Morant and I, is when I learned what the result of our battle was.

"I think that's enough between you guys!" Barsanti, who surprisingly was standing between us, held our wrists as we both were on the floor, covered in dirt and sweat.

"Get your hands off me." Morant said with a scowl, as he flicked his arm away from Barsanti, lifting himself up.

"Thankfully you guys didn't kill yourself." Barsanti said, as he pulled me wrist up to allow me to stand up. "If I hadn't intervened, we could've had something real dangerous happen."

Yeah, no kidding. Morant wasn't playing around, and if I hadn't matched his aggressive attacks, I would've been toast.

"What the hell were you thinking?" Iris spoke out, walking towards Morant with a strict step in her feet. "You knew this was just a simple duel, but you turned it into a death match."

"When you're in battle, you don't get the privilege of being able to survive without the other dying." Morant replied coldly, looking her straight in the eye. "He needs to understand that there won't be mercy."

"That doesn't excuse the fact that you were trying to kill him! There's a difference between teaching and attempting!" Iris rebutted Morant's statement, as they both looked at each other with disgust.

"He's right, Iris." I said, cleaning the dirt off my clothes. "I needed to learn how to fight when my life depends on it, and this was a great way to do so." It was true that Morant definitely had something against me, but luckily Barsanti was able to prevent anything worse happening between the two of us.

"Do you not understand? You could've died! You are literally the most important person alive right now, and he tried to kill you!" Iris said.

"Let's talk about this later, can we?" Barsanti barged into the conversation, putting a hand on my shoulder with a grin. "Most important thing is he's alive, isn't he? And he definitely learned something during it."

"I-" Iris tried form a sentence, but instead she stopped herself, before taking a breath and letting her temper cool off. "Fine."

"That reminds me," I remembered that my battle between Morant was interrupted due to Barsanti stopping the match, and there wasn't a true ending,

"Who do you think was the winner between Morant and I? Since we never were able to finish the battle."

"Obviously I won, you ass." Morant said with a scoff. "If Barsanti hadn't stopped me you would've been six feet in the ground right now."

"I don't know, it seems like you were struggling against me for a while now, even though i'm way less experience than you." I replied back. As I spoke, I could see that Morant clenched his jaw, he was way too obvious to tell when he was pissed off or not.

"Leeet's not start anything right now." Barsanti said, before clearing his throat and beginning to speak.

"Well, if I had to say who looked better in the match, I'd have to say..."

"Excuse me!"

Barsanti was interrupted by the frail voice of a woman who was walking towards us. Wearing a royal blue kirtle with brown long hair, the woman stepped towards me.

"Are you perhaps the ones who stopped the nightmares at the coliseum the night before?" She asked, staring up to me, waiting for an answer.

"Uh, yeah. We were the ones who stopped them. Why?" I said.

"The king requests your appearance at his castle to commend you for your bravery. If you would please, I ask that I am able to take you there."

"Sure!" I spoke, excited that an actual king was going to praise me for saving people. It felt like I was straight out of an RPG.

"I don't see why not!" Barsanti said, along with Iris and Morant, who shrugged it off, an apparent gesture that they would go as well.

"Okay, then. If you would please stand where you are, I will teleport us to the king's throne room shortly." The woman said, before raising her hands towards us, closing her eyes, as essence suddenly gathered around us.

"Teleport." She spoke. The essence around us began to shine brightly, and in a matter of seconds we were in a totally different place than before.
