Chapter 15:

Afterword

Girlfriend from Another World

Afterword

Hey hey, Komaki-P here.

If you’ve made it to the end, then I want to say “thank you” for making it all the way to the end!

And another “thank you” for keeping up with this web novel!

When I started this monthly challenge novel, I really didn’t know what to do with it. I had an initial concept based on the theme… and that’s it. I only had 1 month to make everything, so my outline was the broadest of strokes. I made it up as I went(lol). I even had a lot of inspirations, and I’m not sure they even made it to the page!

The outcome wasn’t all that I’d imagined it would be. But still, I came into the challenge because I wanted to write my first public work, because I was tired of not letting myself be heard all these years. I wanted to prove to myself that I could finish something, anything.

Even though it was just some silly challenge, I did try to write some real feelings I had on the page. Like the protagonist, many of us struggle with finding a purpose or a goal—something I suffered a lot from, too, until recently. Those were the kind of emotions I wanted to convey; messy as my first novel is, I’m just happy I was able to get it out there.

Reading through everything, there are definitely parts I want to rewrite, add or even remove or replace. If you look hard enough, you’ll be able to tell the parts where I was clearly running out of breath!

I think my takeaway from this experience is that I may have found a voice for my future work, and I’d want to develop that voice more so that my next works will be so much better!

I don’t think my novel will end up making people emotional or look at their life different or anything. Not by a long shot. But in the off-chance it did, I’m happy it resonated with you.

Hmm. That’s all I want to say, I guess.

Writing Girlfriend from was fun. Sometimes torture, sometimes bliss. But for sure, I had a lot of fun.

I want to spread happiness even more in the future with my next work!

For my readers, please have a good life ahead of you!
