Pilot

[Scene: In a war zone a variety of aliens fight each other equipped with an array of different powers as many fall from all angles. Flowing through the chaos and death a woman stands clenching her fist in anger as she stares down her supposed enemy]

Korrians Mother- You damn traitors! After everything we've given up for you!

[Action: The being gives a sinister smirk]

Child(1)- Not everything…

[Action: The child lunges at her with blades coming from his arms, Korrians mother side steps at the last second, grabs his head, and sends a surge of lighting into his skull frying him instantly.]

Guardian(1)- What’s happening?!

[Action: Korrian’s mother turns to look as the fighting slows to a halt]

Child(2)-How could this be?!

[Action: Korrians mother sees everyone looking towards the sky. Her eyes follow their gaze as her pupils reflect the image of the sun as it slowly begins to shrink until it is completely diminished, causing everything to go black.]

Play Intro

[Scene: A wide view of space can be seen, ever so calm and still, until it’s broken by the image of a spacecraft flying past. An alarm then starts to blare as what can be assumed to be the pilot of the ship quickly hits different switches.]

Ship’s Alarm- Shield percentage now at zero percent, cause of damage: blaster fire, please contact the local authorities for assistance.

Tanaka-(scoffs) Just what I need, more of them, thanks!

Ship’s Alarm- You're wel-

[Action:Tanaka shuts off the useless alarm.]

[Scene: The outside view of the ship is shown, along with three other pursuing spacecraft as they fire more blaster shots.Tanaka evades them for some time before the ship is shot by its inevitable last hit. As the ship starts to lose control Tanaka spots a nearby planet and with the remaining time Tanaka has left to steer he maneuvers the ship into the planet's atmosphere.]

Tanaka-Shit shit shit

[Action: Tanaka frantically mashes the ejection button before the ship crash lands]

[Scene: The ship makes its last few sounds before a small town filled with junk becomes its final resting place. The beings of the planet gather around the ship, all dressed in rags, before running for cover as the three pursers land around the ship. Soldiers pile out, surrounding the crashed vessel.]

Soldier(1)- You're surrounded! Come out peacefully or we’re coming in!

[Action: After no response, Soldier(1) nods his head at two of his squad, signaling them to breach as the two take their safeties off and move in. After a few seconds one of the soldiers comes out.]

Soldier(2)-No ones in there sir. But the ejector seats are missing.

Soldier(1)-Damn! Fan out! He couldn’t have gotten far especially in all this scrap!

[Action: The three ships take off away from the town while leaving a small team to stand guard by the ship. Tanaka is then seen amongst the crowd of people trying his best to blend in. An old man eyes him up and down before a sigh leaves his lips]

Old man- You may want to throw this on, unless ye'd prefer hiding in that flashy jacket ye got there.

[Action: The old man throws Tanaka an old raggedy cloak]

Tanaka- Thanks. I didn't hurt anyone when I… landed did I?

Old man- Ye scared the dung out of some folk but don't worry they've been through worse. You on the other hand look like a wilba outta season. (referring to Tanaka's wounds)

Tanaka(under his breath)- I think I look pretty good all things considered.

[Action: Tanaka throws on the old raggedy cloak.]

Old man- Follow me son we can talk more back at my farm.

[Action: Tanaka follows the old man through the streets seeing poor, sickly people clinging to what life they have left. Torn propaganda of Aldrich Is covered by a poster of Estrid with the words “The way to a brighter tomorrow starts today!” on it.]

Tanaka- Old man, why are you even helping me in the first place? I'm sure you can tell I'm not the most well liked person here.

Old man- Heh, son, it’d be the day I die when I help them buket heads. You also look like you’d start to huff carrying twenty pounds.

Tanaka- What?! At least I'm over twenty pounds, you old sack of dust!

[Action:The Old Man laughs]

[Scene: The pair arrive at the doorstep of a dilapidated shack, the “farm” being a small patch of land with some semblance of vegetables being grown, they step inside and Tanaka is greeted by an unpleasant smell mixed with the sight of dust bunnies frolicking the premises]

Old man-Home sweet home!

Tanaka- I thought this was the outhouse…

[Action: The Old Man shoves him towards the middle of the shack]

Old man- Just get yer wise ass in that chair over there.

[Action: Tanaka does as he’s told as the Old man brings a tray of shoddy medical supplies. Then begins to tend to Tanaka’s wounds]

Old man-Now I’m no expert. So don't cry if I prick ya.

Tanaka- As long as you don’t make it worse I’ll call it a win. Can you tell me what planet we are on exactly?

Old man-Trash planet 425, the lot of us have taken refuge here since the war, with more coming everyday.

Tanaka-You mentioned trash. What do they dump here?

Old man- Ship parts, old tech, ya know the usual.

[Action: The Old man finishes what he was doing and Tanaka gets up to leave.]

Tanaka- Good. Welp I’ll get out of your hair now Old man.

Old man- Where ya think you're off to?

Tanaka-Into the piles of junk. My only way off this planet is trashed, so I'll need to find or make a new way.

Old man-I wouldn’t do that if I were you. Junk isn’t the only thing that lives on this planet.

Tanaka-What do you mean?

Old man-Folks who leave the safety of this town often go missin, my wife being one of em, they talk of beasts that roam the scrap looking fo-

Tanaka(now worried)-OK OK I get it. I hate to say it, but I'm going to have to take my chances. If I get caught with you Aldrich will put both of our heads on his mantle.

Old Man- A-Aldrich?! By the Guardians boy what have you done?

[Action: Tanaka looks at the old man silently for a moment]

Tanaka- Thanks for your hospitality Old man.

[Action: With a small smile Tanaka shuts the door behind him]

[Scene: Tanaka heads into the sea of scrap, making his way through until the town behind him becomes a spec.]

[Action: Tanaka rummages through some scrap]

Tanaka- I can't believe they got rid of this perfectly intact fuel regulator!

[Action: Tanaka gasps]

Tanaka-Is that what I think it is!?

[Action: Tanaka hurriedly hurls some junk behind him, his eyes glisten at the sight in front of him]

Tanaka- It is! A SPS 5.0! These got recalled years ago!

[Action: The ground begins to shake, knocking what Tanaka was holding out of his arms, in turn shattering the screen of the device.]

Tanaka-NOOOOO!!

[Action: Before Tanaka can mourn any further, the ground shakes even more violently, before an enormous worm emerges from the scrap. It begins to move it’s way towards Tanaka with its mouth agape.]

Tanaka-AAAAHHHH!!

[Action: Tanaka tries to run but to no avail as he’s swallowed up by the worm]

[Scene: After being swallowed by the worm Tanaka wakes up inside the belly of the beast, his leg in pain.]

[Action: He looks at the point of his pain's origin to see that a large piece of scrap is jutting out of his leg.]

Cultist(1)- Another gift from the Great Galic I see.

[Action: Tanaka looks up to see two beings dressed in red robes.]

Cultist(2)- Come with us please. The messiah must speak to you.

Tanaka-Wait what? Great Galic? Messiah? What are you two talking about? We have to get out before we become worm shit!

Cultist(1)- You intend to leave the Great Galic?

[Action: As the cultist says this his companion draws a weapon from under it’s robe. Tanaka raises his hands as he sees the weapon]

Tanaka- N-no but I can’t move. Not with this.

[Action: Tanaka shows the cultist his leg. Unfortunately his face doesn’t show a sliver of empathy.]

Cultist(1)- Once you are judged by the messiah we shall tend to your wound.

Cultist(2)- Now walk!

[Action: Tanaka slowly brings himself to his feet, wincing in pain as he does, before walking in front of the cultist. They reach a small village built along the walls of the worm's stomach. They push Tanaka into one of the buildings where he is met by a being in a blue robe]

Messiah- Welcome child! Please take a seat.

[Action: Tanaka gladly does as he’s told, giving a sigh of relief as the weight is taken off his leg]

Messiah- You have been chosen child! Chosen to be a messenger for the Great Galic! He told me of your coming and that you would aid us in guiding others to nirvana!

Tanaka- Nirvana? What are you talking about? We’re in the stomach of a worm! We need to get out before we are digested!

Messiah- You dare say that our Great Galic is nothing more than a worm! He is our lord! Our savior! He shall lead the heretics to nirvana he told me so!

Tanaka-You've lost it! I'm leaving!

Messiah-HERETIC! Seize him at once and throw him with the rest!

[Action: Tanaka tries to run but because of his leg he’s captured very quickly and thrown into a makeshift prison. They tie him up with some spare rope and leave.]

Tanaka(thoughts)- It's official. This is the worst day of my life.

Dian- Yo!

[Action: Tanaka’s thoughts are interrupted by a voice coming across from him. He looks up to see an alien giving him a big smile]

Dian-Ah what? You got rope? Lucky! I got these huge metal beams I'm stuck to and haven’t been able to put my arms down in days!

[Action:Dian lets out a laugh]

Tanaka- Great another nut job.

[Action:Tanaka disregards Dian.Going back to his thoughts]

Dian- Hey!

[Action:Tanaka looks back up at him, this time with an annoyed face.]

Tanaka- What?

Dian- My names Dian! You wanna break outta here?

[Action:Tanaka's face changes from annoyed to surprised.]

Tanaka- You have a plan?

Dian- Nope!

[Action:Tanaka drops his head in disappointment. As he does this he looks at his leg and his eyes light up with an idea.]

Tanaka-Hey do you think you can rip this piece of scrap out of my leg? Then we can use it to cu-

[Action: Dian doesn’t wait for Tanaka to finish as he rips the piece of scrap out of his legs with his feet]

Tanaka-AAAH!

Dian-Done! What now?

[Action:Tanaka takes in a few strained breaths]

Tanaka-A-alright now j-j-ust toss it over.

[Action:Dian does as he’s told and Tanaka shuffles his arm down before nugging it into his hands. He then cuts the ropes before breaking the locks on Dian’s arms. Dian lets out a sigh of relief and stretches his arms.]

Dian-Ahhh. Finally free! Thanks!

Tanaka(passive aggressively)-Glad you're feeling good… Now what?

Dian-Hm? Well now that I can move my arms we can get out.

[Action: As Dian says this he takes a deep breath into his mouth than out his mouth. As he does this his muscles seem to almost break out of his skin as he bends the makeshift metal bars enough for them to fit through.Tanaka sits in shock upon seeing this.]

Dian-Let's go!

Tanaka-Y-ya right.

[Action: The two sneak through the village, while the Messiah and other members of the cult are seemingly in the process of preparing the prisoners to be sacrificed to the worm. Dian starts to head away from the village but Tanaka stops.]

Tanaka-Wait up.

Dian-What’s wrong?

Tanaka-I can’t walk on this leg. But look over there, looks like everyone’s gathered in the middle of the town. So while they’re busy we should find something to fix my leg.

Dian-Okay!

[Action: After sneaking through the village’s various makeshift homes, Tanaka finally finds something to clean and dress his wounds.]

Tanaka- I found this, how about you?

[Action: Tanaka shows Dian the supplies he’s found but before he can answer the pair hear a loud alarm. They peek outside and see the village searching through the houses with weapons drawn. Tanaka hurriedly cleans and wraps his wound]

Tanaka- It’ll have to do. Time to go.

[Action: Dian follows Tanaka as they dodge the search party after them. They eventually come to the entrance of the village but see that it’s being guarded. To combat this Tanaka takes a piece of scrap and hurls it towards a junk pile. This distracts the guards and gives them enough time to make a break for it. They start to slow down after putting some distance between them and the village]

Dian- Wooo! We made it! Good going…

[Action: Dian trails off his last word]

Dian-Hey you never told me your name.

Tanaka-Was a little occupied at the time, I’m Tanaka.

Dian-Nice to meet you Tanaka, Im Dian!

Tanaka-Ya I know

Dian-Eh?! How?

Tanaka- Because you tol- you know what nevermind let's just get out of this worm.

Dian-Worm?

Tanaka-Yeah you know the thing we got swallowed by?

Dian-That was a worm? I thought it was a snake.

Tanaka-What? No way, it was definitely a worm.

Dian-Hmm looked like a snake to meeee.

[Action: The conversation is cut off by the sound of scrap shuffling. The two look over and see a group of dirty people emerge from the piles of junk.]

Refugee (1)- Hey over here! You fellas ain’t a part of those nut jobs are ya?

Tanaka-Not a chance, we actually just escaped from one of their prisons, you guys should get out of here before they find you.

Refugee(1)- That’s just it friend, there doesn’t seem to be a way outta this snake.

Dian-See? See? Told you it was a sna-

[Action: Tanaka pushes Dian’s face away from him before continuing the conversation.]

Tanaka-What do you mean there’s no way out? There’s gotta be a way to go through its mouth or… the other end.

Refugee(1)- We tried that but it's no use! The bugger's mouth doesn’t want to budge and the cult is blocking the other way.

Refugee(2)- Hey are you alright? The bandages you wrapped around your leg are soaked.

Tanaka- Yeah I did the best I could with what we could find laying around.

Refugee(2)- Well our camp isn't too far from here and we have some extra medical supplies if you want to get that treated.

Tanaka- Lead the way.

[Action: Tanaka and Dian follow the refugees back to their camp, a short walk from where they were, with Tanaka’s leg worsening as they get closer. They take Tanaka into a small hut and have him lay down while they go fetch the supplies, leaving Dian and Tanaka alone]

Tanaka- Hey so Dian.

Dian-Whats up?

Tanaka- How'd you end up here anyways?

Dian- Well I was out exploring before the ground shook and I-

Tanaka- Nah, I mean this planet, you seem different from the other refugees.

Dian- Oh! Felix dropped me off.

Tanaka- Felix?

Dian- Ya he’s a friend who visited Kret sometimes and I got a ride from him. He had a bunch of cool stuff on his ship like this one plant that sneezed! There was this one tim-

[Action: Before Dian can finish his story the refugee returns with a box of medical supplies.]

Refugee(2)- Sorry it took so long but I should have everything.

[Action: The refugee begins to apply medicine and bandages to Tanaka’s wound.]

Refugee(2)- So I never caught your guys names.

Dian- I’m Dian!

Tanaka- Tanaka.

Refugee(2)- Nice to meet you, my name's Isabell.

[Action: Isabell finishes cleaning and wrapping Tanaka's wound.]

Isabell (Refugee 2)- All done. So what do you two plan to do now? You can stay here if you wish.

Dian- I’m not staying here, this place smells and it’s gross.

Tanaka- Thanks for the offer but he's right we shouldn’t stay here.

Isabell- Like we said we tried getting out but it’s no use.

Tanaka- Maybe not by traditional means.

Isabell- What are you saying? You think there's another way?

Tanaka- There’s tons of scrap in this place, if I look hard enough, I guarantee I can find a way out of here.

Isabell- How can you be so confident?

Tanaka- I’ve built ships that could fly circles around high end vessels out of less and won’t be able to do that ever again if i’m stuck in here.

Dian-Ya and I still have so much more of the galaxy left to explore! You have to have something you want to do outside of this place right?

Isabell-Nothing as grandiose as you two, but there is someone I miss dearly.

Tanaka- Then that settles that.

[Action:Tanaka starts to leave the hut]

Dian-Gran-d-ose?

[Action: Smoke starts to come out of Dian’s ears before he notices Tanaka leaving.]

Dian-Hm? Hey Tanaka wait up! Isabell don’t worry, we’ll find a way outta here!

[Action: Dian leaves the hut and chases Tanaka as he refiles through the scrap piles .]

Dian- Tanaka! Wait!

Tanaka- What?

Dian- What’s our plan?

Tanaka-“our”?

Dian-Ya! I want to help!

Tanaka- Alright sure, Um… can you lift that thing out of the way?

Dian- Got it!

[Action: Dian lifts the large pieces of scrap Tanaka tells him to before Dian lifts one that reveals an old ship's cannon underneath]

Tanaka- Hey nice find! Looks like it’s missing some stuff though.

[Action: Tanaka inspects the cannon further]

Tanaka-Hmm its missing a power source and a couple of wires, nothing to big, I think I actually seen some over he-

[Action: Tanaka's sentence is cut short by gun fire whizzing past them. As Tanaka and Dian look they see the cultists advancing towards them.]

Tanaka- Dian! Protect me while I repair the cannon!

Dian- What?! They’re gonna shoot me! I can’t dodge bullets!

Tanaka- Ya better figure it out! Hide behind some scrap or something!

[Action: Dian jumps behind a wall of scrap before getting the idea to use his strength to his advantage as he hurls scrap at the cultists at high speeds. This works for some time before the cultists slowly surround the two Dian unable to hold them off. As this happens the refugees slide down a scrap hill on pieces of scrap before landing in a circle around Dian and Tanaka using the scrap as shields to cover them.]

Dian- You guys!

Refugee(3)- We’ll cover you! Just focus on fixing our way out of here!

Dian- Thanks!

[Action: Tanaka continues working on the cannon as Dian runs over to him]

Dian- Tanaka! You almost done?!

Tanaka- Almost! Here, start lifting the cannon into place!

[Dian breathes into and out of his mouth before lifting the cannon, aiming it at the side of the worm's body, while the refugees fire back at the cultists protecting the two. Once Dian has the cannon in the right place Tanaka finishes his repairs and mounts the cannon preparing to fire.]

Tanaka- Alright Dian that's it! Get ready! Three. Two. One!

[Scene: An outside view of the planet’s surface is shown, the worm making its way through the scrap, before the cannon’s enormous beam breaks through its skin. The beam illuminates the sky.]

[Action: The soldiers searching for Tanaka catch a glimpse of this beam. They turn to look at each other and it seems they all consciously agree on the same thing]

Refugees-We’re free!

[Action: The refugees along with Tanaka and Dian make a run for it, all while the cultists stand in shock that their “God” has perished. Dian and Tanakas ears are still ringing from the blast.]

Tanaka- LOOK! TOLD YOU IT WAS A WORM!

Dian- WHAT? I CAN’T HEAR YOU!

Tanaka- GLAD YOU REALIZED I WAS RIGHT!

[Action: After some time of the pair walking away from the worm their hearing starts to return. The refugees begin to head back to the town now leaving only Tanaka and Dian alone.]

Dian- Well that was fun!

Tanaka- Our ideas of fun are VERY different. That wasted too much time.

Dian- For what?

Tanaka- For me to build my ticket off this dump.

Dian- You’re building a ship?!

Tanaka- Unless I sprout wings and fly out of here. Yes, I'm building a ship.

Dian- Let me help you with that too! I'll lift any scrap you want me to! Please, Please, Pleeeease!

Tanaka- Hmm well we do make a sort of semi-decent team. Kinda. Eh what the heck.

Dian- Aaalright!

Tanaka- Come on man I just got my hearing back!

Dian- Sorry! Where do we start?

Tanaka- Go ahead and grab that cannon. We’ll need protection.

[Action: Dian starts to drag the cannon along as he follows Tanaka deeper into the ocean of scrap. The two set up shop and start to work on building a ship.]

Dian- Hey Tanaka! I have the part you needed! It’s super greasy!

Tanaka-Great! Bring it over just don’t drop i-

[Action: As if Tanaka willed it into existence Dian drops the part causing it to land perfectly on his wound.]

Dian- Oops. Sorry man…

[Action: Tanaka picks up the part while holding back tears.]

Tanaka- J-just go and try to find something that looks like this. It’s a SPS.

Dian- Ha…ha… ya ok.

[Action: Dian starts to head over a junk hill and when he reaches its peak he notices three ships flying overhead]

Dian- Hey Tanaka…

[Action: Tanaka takes a deep breath.]

Tanaka-Yes Dian?

Dian- There’s a bunch of ships flying over here. Think they’d give us a ride?

[Action: Tanaka’s heart hits his stomach as he looks up and sees his pursuers have found him. They begin to land nearby.]

Tanaka- Dian! Get back over here quickly!

Dian-Hm? What’s wrong?

Tanaka- Just get over here! These guys are bad news.

[Action: Dian does as he’s told and heads back over to Tanaka.]

Tanaka- Listen Dian, we’re going to have to beat these guys.

Dian- Why?

Tanaka- No time to explain, just know they’ll steal our ship if they catch us.

Dian- OK…what do we do?

[Action: Tanaka takes a quick survey of the area and notices that a huge scrap pile is in range of the cannon.]

Tanaka- If you can get the soldiers underneath that huge scrap pile I can blast it with the cannon and take them all out.

Dian- Got it!

[Action: Dian runs away and hides, waiting for the right moment]

Dian(Thoughts)- Hmmmm how do I get them over thereeee.

[Action: Dian looks around until he sees one of the soldier’s nimble ships. This seems to give Dian an idea]

Soldier (3)- Alright kid this is your last chance! Come willingly or we’ll have to force you to comply!

Tanaka-OK! OK! I'm coming out!

[Action: Tanaka starts to head over to where the soldiers are once their guards are let down Tanaka takes a deep breath]

Tanaka- DIAN NOW!

[Action: As Tanaka says this Dian springs into action, He breaths into his mouth and out of his mouth before grabbing one of the ships]

Dian- Hnggggh

[Action: Dian manages to lift up the ship and throws it towards the soldiers. They begin to run towards the spot Tanaka had mentioned and Tanaka scrambles to the cannon and fires a shot perfectly at the mountain of scrap. The pieces fall down on top of all the soldiers, burying them in rubble.]

Dian- Ow Ow Ow!

Tanaka- What’s wrong?

Dian- I used the breathing technique too much. I think my muscles got torn.

Tanaka- Breathing technique?

Dian-Ouch! Ya, if I breathe in and out of my mouth it allows me to use all of my strength. But if I use it too much I'll tire my muscles out.

Tanaka- Interesting. Well you can probably rest now. I have all the parts I need.

[Action: Tanaka looks over at the other two ships and gets to work while Dian rests nearby]

Dian- Hey Tanaka, why don’t we just take one of these ships?

Tanaka- Because of the trackers they put into these ships. They explode if anyone tries to take them off which is why I couldn’t shake them before.

Dian- They were chasing you?

Tanaka- Uuuuuh… Y-ya for ummm… speeding! Ha… Ha…

Dian- Oh! Okay!

Tanaka- Whew… So Dian I was thinking.

Dian- About what?

Tanaka- In order to fly through space without getting in trouble you need to register the ship under someone. They would in turn become the captain of the ship. So I’ll already have my hands full being the technician, mechanic, pilot, treasurer, super cool comedian, anyways I was thinking that you should be the captain.

Dian- Really?! I get to be captain!

Tanaka- If you want…

Dian- Of course!!

[Action: Dian jumps up in excitement before a shock of pain reminds him to not make sudden movements like that]

Dian- Ouch Ouch… I’ve always wanted to be a captain of my own ship! Then I'd explore the stars and meet all kinds of cool people and do all kinds of cool things!

Tanaka- Great, then from this day forward you’re captain.

Tanaka(thoughts)- Good with him captain Aldrich won’t know where I'm at and I can lay low for a while. Then me and Dian can go our separate ways when things die down.

[Action: Tanaka finishes building their new ship and registers Dian as the captain. Dian enters the ship with stars in his eyes]

Dian- Wooow! It’s amazing!

Tanaka- Ha if you like this you’d be blown away with a ship I can build in a couple weeks. Strap into your captain's seat so I can get this thing airborne.

Dian- *Gasps* I get my own seat?!

Tanaka- Uh yeah, you’re the captain.

[Action: Dian sits in his chair and buckles up. He bounces up and down in the seat with excitement.]

Tanaka- Alright time to go!

[Action: With that the engine comes to life, sputtering a bit but it gives a consistent hum after some time. The ship lifts up off the ground before Tanaka blasts off out of the atmosphere and into space.]

Dian- Wooooooohhhoooooo!
