Chapter 7 : A Welcome

About an hour later, we reached the gate of the village and stopped at the clearing on the right. I woke Veene up while Sophia went down to the two people who appeared to be policemen and talked to the person. It seems that Veene is still quite scared of everything around her so she is still clutching my robe, I give a small smile and whisper.
"It's okay, everything will be fine."
Veene seems to have calmed down. After a while, she motioned for me and Veene to follow her and the guard into a room outside the gate.
"Welcome to the village of Intenna. But before entering the village, Can you and the girl sit on these chairs for a while ?"
"I really thank you, Tim, for understanding the situation."
"It's okay, Miss Sophia. Anyone would do it if they were in my situation. I also have to thank you for helping my village's business flourish."
So the guy's name is Tim. That guy, although he was quite small, was equipped with a rather solid-looking iron armor with a short sword at his waist. In his eyes, it looks like he hasn't slept for many days. After a while, the soldier who was talking to Sophia came in with a stack of papers and a painter.
"Here it is Tim. Here are the latest papers on the wanted and the painter you asked about."
"Thanks, Nort. Now you can go to guard."
After Nort left, Tim took out two blank sheets of paper and asked.
"Welcome to the Intenna village in the southwest land of Arania. Because of your "special" cases, I will start to see if you and the other girl look like wanted people, and the other artist will draw portraits of you two so that you can report to my superiors in case of emergency. But first I need some questions."
"Yes."
"What is your name ?"
"Hades."
"You don't have a surname right?"
"At least for now."
"Is it true that you lost your memory ?"
"I think so."
"By the horn on your head. I guessed you might be a hominoid. Do you remember your race ?"
"Hominoid ?" I whisper in confusion.
"There is 2 group of intelligence being in Interria including human and hominoid. Human is like that artist over there. And hominoid is like you, for example having a horn or stuff."
"It's that so." I begin to know more.
"Can you remember now ?"
"I think it's Dragon."
"Dragon ?" Tim sounded surprised at my answer.
"That's right, Dragon. Is something wrong?"
The whole room was silent for a moment, looking rather serious. Then Sophia burst out laughing.
"Haha. Tim, hear what he said, he said he's a dragon, and I thought you were about 18 years old."
"I hope you're serious, Mr. Hades." His response seemed partly suspicious and partly serious.
"What's the matter ?" I began to confuse.
"You can't be a dragon because that race was exterminated after the first Holy War about 300-400 years ago."
Exterminated? So why did Z create this dragon body for me? I'm confused as to what to do. Sophia and the painter laughed at me, Tim doubted me and Veene... Why do you look at me like you know I'm special?
"Then I will leave the racial part unknown for now since your testimony is rather strange."
"May I ask what happened to the...?"
"Now, so your name is Veene right ?" He seemed to avoid my question and turn over to Veene.
"Sophia. Could you...?"
"Ahhh. I almost forgot to sell my stuff. Goodbye, Hades and little Veene. We will meet again." She gets Puff from Veene's arm and goes out of the investigation room.
"But I haven't.." I turn my head to the door.
"Mr. Hades. The painter can't draw you if you keep turning your head around."
Only Veene and I were wondering what happened. Surely I need to learn more about this world.
After more than an hour in the room, Veene and I finally finished our interviews, walked out, and started entering the village. The village is made up of many elements including humans and hominoid who live together, but it seems that the community has been divided into two by the wide main road that runs through the village. The road was lightening up by some kind of street lamp powered by some mystic force.
Before going out, I also asked Tim about some places I needed to go so Tim drew me a map of the village, it was strange that the places I needed to go were all on the left side of the village. As I was walking down the street, I noticed that Veene was both scared and interested in everything around.
"Do you want to get your hair cut first ?" I gently asked Veene.
"Yes please, Mister Hades." She answers in excitement.
