Chapter 19:

Winning Beyond Expectations

Reincarnated And Became My Little Sister!?

"Kenta Yamazaki, I challenge you to one on one in basketball!"

Silence filled the class as Misaki shouted those words. In an unfamiliar classroom, she tried to endure her fear from surrounding gazes as she stood up straight.

Wait, how did I make this kind of decision!!?

Misaki screamed in her heart and thinking about what happen last night.

...

That night.

"Hmm, how can I avenge the person who disturbed my Kazuto's school life, huh."

With a devil grin, Misaki thought of various evil scenarios to bring that guy down.

"No, it won't be useful if he is in pain. It would be better if he feel shame."

She didn't like fact that Kazuto she wanted to make happy turned out to be sad! That's why she came up with various plans, like making him fall down the stairs and breaking his arm so he couldn't play basketball anymore, that sort of thing.

But after thinking about it, it would make her dissatisfied. She would rather humiliate him in front of everyone than inflict pain.

"Huuhh, so attacking him in an honest way is the better thing, huh."

With that, in the end she only thought of dueling him to play basketball as a way to embarrass him since since that was the beginning of all the trouble.

....

Just thinking about last night's was enough to give her a headache.

Argh!! Last night I must have been possessed by a devil, yes it must have been the work of the devil! I mean, when did my character change drastically!!?

She realized that her actions were irrasional after putting that challenge on him How could she challenge a 2nd grader? But she couldn't go back on her words after saying it boldly like that, especially since her and Kazuto's pride was at stake here. Honestly, she actually wanted to escape from this place because of the many curious gazes that were directed at her. Luckily no one saw her legs are shaking.

And since it was like this, she was forced to continue her act of right now.

"Haahh? Did you just say challenge to me?"

Misaki's thoughts were immediately cut off after hearing that.

In front of her, stood a guy who was at least almost the same height as Kazuto. With his dark blue hair and eyes that gave off a wild feeling on his oval-shaped face, it was enough to intimidate people at his age.

Uwaah, his height really can't be underestimated, I mean shouldn't he be a high schooler? No, I can't say that when I compare it to Kazuto.

"Umm, can you first explain what's your problem with me? It seems we've never met before."

He asked as he crossed his arms. That movement was enough to intimidate Misaki.

"Th-That, of course we never met! The problem is that you've caused trouble for my Onii-chan!"

She said while shouting to get rid of his fear.

"Your brother? Who do you mean?"

"You have taken the title of captain from him! You should already know who he is!!"

"Captain?"

He thought for a moment.

"Oh, so that's how it is."

After realizing who it was he smirked with a distorted face.

"I don't know what you mean, I was actually just joking when talking to your coaches about making me captain of the team."

"So, doesn't that mean your brother isn't very good at basketball and that's why he was substituted?"

He said in a mocking tone.

It clearly made Misaki have a red face with anger.

"You! My Onii-chan is even a thousand times better than you!"

Misaki shouted angrily.

"Ohh? The one who hides behind his sister is better than me? How cute."

He replied with a mocking smile.

"He doesn't know anything about this! Besides, are you afraid of losing to a little girl, that's why you didn't accept my challenge?"

Misaki asked in annoyance.

"Huh? Me? Afraid of losing to a girl, like you?"

That question felt like an insult to his ears, so he raised his voice.

"Accept it or not? If you lose then you have to step back from your position."

Misaki said as she narrowed her eyes.

"Hahahaha.... Alright, but if you lose then you have to be my girlfriend, I just saw that you look beautiful when I looked at you."

Kenta replied with a sarcastic laugh as he touched Misaki's chin with a smirk.

"Keep your dirty hands off me."

However Misaki brushed it off immediately after with an annoyed face.

"You won't necessarily win over me even though I'm smaller than you."

Ad her.

"Alright, I can't wait for a 1 on 1 match with you."

Kenta replied with a shrug. There was no way he could lose to a little girl, he thought.

He honestly didn't want to accept the challenge, but teasing her a bit seemed quite amusing to him.

"Tomorrow after school time, I will wait on the basketball court."

After saying the necessary thing, Misaki walked out of the classroom with a cold face. After she came out, she could hear the commotion of people talking about them from inside.

And after quite a distance from there, Misaki looked in every corridor to see if there was anyone around, but after knowing there was no one here, she ran towards the toilet with a panicked face. There was no sign that she had made a cold face like before.

Arriving at the toilet.

“Uwaaaaa, what did I do just now!!”

She shouted with all his might without caring whether anyone was inside or not.

"To be watched with such concern by those people it just terrifying..."

She said as she held his head with both hands. Her legs shaking slightly as she tried to hold back her tension while being stared at by people. Luckily a deal had been made when her mind hit its limit, and came out with a poker face.

"Wait, doesn't that mean tomorrow will be more crowded if this thing spreads throughout the class!?"

She knew kids at her age couldn't keep their mouths shut, and this would surely spread throughout the class during recess.

"It won't work if like this! I'm sure I'll lose at this rate!!"

Misaki wasn't afraid by losing in basketball at all because Kazuto had always invited her to play since childhood, and her abilities were at least below him, and make her confident with that. But what she was afraid of the attention directed at her, and the stares that strangers give it to her. She wasn't sure she would be able to move if a lot of gazes were on her.

"Fuhh, fine. Let's not think about it for now because it will only stress me out."

With those words she left and headed back to class. Her friends asked her why she going was out so long when class was about to start, but for some reason she managed to get them to stop asking questions. But she was sure they'd know what happened during recess.

And as expected, during break time.....

"Saki-chan!! Did it really happen-Ouch!"

Dak!

"Ouch!!"

Sakura ran from the doorway and screaming with a drink can, but before finishing her sentence she slipped and fell, then her drink was thrown up and fell with gravity pulling towards her head. Add suffering to her scream.

Seeing that Misaki and Shinomiya just sighed and thought about how reckless she was before helping her.

"I told you not to run recklessly like that, look at the consequences now."

Shinomiya warned while helping her. Sakura could only groan as a response because this was her fault.

“Auuu, b-but this is really important thing!!”

Sakura reasoned.

"I heard that Misaki challenged a duel to a scary transfer senior from second year and placing a bet!! Is that true Saki-chan!?"

Ignoring the pain from her head, Sakura asked. Shinomiya now became interested when she looked at Misaki with a questioning look.

"Uhh..."

Misaki had already guessed this would happen, and she finally explained what had happened. Starting from Kazuto who was suddenly dismissed as a captain, she who became angry, and the challenges she put forward.

"Gosh, that guy named Kenta makes me angry! How can he who just moved in suddenly be given authority so easily?"

"Yes, their coach also seems to be colluding given how easily he promoted."

After hearing the story, Sakura and Shinomiya got angry too.

"But are you sure you can beat him? He's a boy and he's quite tall, you know."

Shinomiya was worried about Misaki. However, she wasn't sure that Misaki's tiny body could beat a boy who practicing sports.

"Well, that-"

Brack!

Just as Misaki was about to answer, the library door opened again.

"Misaki, are you really-Ouch!"

It was Endou who ran in a hurry but because of that, he slipped and fell on the same place as Sakura.

"""..."""

The three of them could feel a sense of deja vu upon seeing that.

"...Is there no one want to help me, the handsome guy to stand up?"

Endou asked with hopeful eyes that they would help him.

""...""

However, hearing his narcissistic tone left him with no one to help until he stood alone with a disappointed face and dusted off his clothes.

"Ah!"

And as he realizing again the reason he was here he screamed hysterically.

"Misaki are you really challenging a 2nd grader to a basketball game!?"

"Hah...."

Misaki was too tired to re-explain, but she kept on telling it like she was an NPC who always gave the same explanation to players.

"Kuh! I'll get that incompetent coach fired from his job later, just watch out!"

Endou expressed his anger like the others. That was enough to make Misaki happy.

"But Misaki, are you sure you're going to fight him? I mean what I'm asking is if you can withstand the gazes of many people?"

Endou asked with a worried look.

"That-"

Brack!

She wanted to reassure him, but the library door was once again opened.

"Misaki why you-Woah!"

It was Kazuto who entered. And like the other two, he slipped on the same floor. But instead of falling, before that happened he used his hands to hold his body and spun for a moment like a propeller and did a somersault forward and ended up standing in front of them all.

"Ahh, that's almost."

Kazuto said in a surprised tone while heaving a sigh of relief.

""...""

Sakura and Shinomiya gaped at the acrobatic moves that Kazuto showed. It was clear that he had at least be a professional athlete for that move to be possible.

"Misaki, your brother......"

"...Well, let's just say Onii-chan is the protagonist of a novel you usually read."

Misaki said to the two of them with a wry smile. However her former self had worked hard enough to train his body since childhood and the result was that his reflexes, stamina, and speed exceeded the average of a child at his age when he entered middle school, as he was a protagonist with growth powers.

"Well, forget about it, the most important thing now..."

Kazuto glanced at Misaki which made her flinch.

"I told you I'd think about it, didn't I. Why are you interfering instead."

He said with a long sigh.

"Th-That's because he insulted Onii-chan! How can I not got angry when I hear that!"

Misaki only reasoned. She was obviously the first one take a trouble, but it was Kenta who had made this happen in the first place. If he hadn't tried to dishonestly rob Kazuto's title, there was no way Misaki would have been looking for trouble as well.

"You really are the little sister who are..."

Kazuto smiled bitterly, because Misaki's actions were quite worrying. Moreover, hier phobia of strangers and the stares of many people made him even more worried. He shouldn't have told this if he knew something like this would happen.

"Muu, don't pat me on the head here. It's embarrassing to see!"

And subconsciously, his hand had lightly patted Misaki's head.

"Haha alright, alright."

Kazuto immediately took it off after that.

"Psst, why am I always an extra in this sweet atmosphere?"

Endou whispered to Sakura and Shinomiya of his dissatisfaction.

"Isn't Endou-Senpai always been an extra?"

A quick reply came from Sakura who fiercely pierced his heart because how sharp her word.

"Kuhk! I shouldn't have asked if the answer was like that!"

Ignoring his grumbling, they were all having fun during the break.

"Ohh, Misaki. I think I'll be home quite late, maybe I'll be home after dinner so there's no need to wait for me. I have things to do."

Kazuto said after the break.

"Hmm? All right."

Misaki replied while tilting her head in confusion.

Kazuto shouldn't have any importance thing to do, especially since there's no practice today, and even if there were, he still wouldn't be a regular member because of Kenta. But she didn't ask any further.

Oh!! Could there be a secret meeting with a girl? Well, if it's true then it's obvious because he is indeed popular.

With that imagination in her head she entered the classroom and finished school. And rumors spreading about her challenging a transfer student as she went home. It clearly made her uncomfortable as a lot of glances were directed at her.

And Kazuto came home quite late as he said, but it seems his imagination about dating a girl didn't come true because he came home sweaty. Misaki asked what happened but all she got was a fresh smile from Kazuto, and after that he said "You'll know tomorrow".

With a question mark in her head, Misaki can only sleep and look for answers tomorrow.

.....

The next day, after school. The appointed time for the basketball duel between Misaki and Kenta was determined at this time.

Uwaah, why are there so many people here!? Why are you curious about this boring match!?

Meanwhile, Misaki who had arrived first and was wearing a PE outfit with her hair tied up was enough to attract the attention of the large number of students who came to watch, and Misaki who didn't know the reason felt goosebumps.

"Saki-chan, cheer up!"

"I'm sure you can!"

At the side of the field, Sakura, Shinomiya and their classmates cheer on her.

Misaki replied by waving her hand as she tried to hide her nervousness. Only god knows her legs are shaking.

"Ahh! Look, that person is coming!"

One of the audience saw Kenta coming from a distance.

His stride was impressive as he walked, his well-trained and protruding arm muscles were intimidating, and his height that didn't match his age was enough to make him stand out when he came here.

He stop for a moment. His wild eyes swept across the audience which made them nervous and unconsciously gulped from being intimidated by his gaze. After that he walked closer to Misaki and stopped 3 steps away from him.

Their eyes met. Misaki who was actually already feeling very uncomfortable with her surroundings stared back fiercely while pretending to be brave.

However, a surprising thing happened after that.

Kenta, suddenly knelt down and prostrated himself in front of everyone.

"Forgive me!"

He said in a tone of regret.

"Huh?""

The people watching let out confused voices in unison.

...........

Silence... No sound came out after that due to the shock effect shown because Kenta suddenly gave up.

".....Eh? Ehh? Ehhh!!?"

Meanwhile, Misaki who was unable to process the incident quickly shouted in confusion.

Why is he doing dogeza all of a sudden like this!!? What really happened!!?

Her mind tried to figure out the reason but no answer came out so she asked.

"W-What are you doing? Why are you doing this?"

"I admit my defeat."

A quick reply came from him as his forehead remained on the ground.

"T-The reason?"

"I didn't know your older brother was Kazuto, the person who is considered the strongest in the game of basketball, who even the people from Teiko Middle School who has the nickname Kiseki no Sedai acknowledge his talent and are said it si impossible to beat him. I have no eyes, and should know that he is studying in here, and you are his sister."

"That's why I admit my defeat, and step down from the position of captain I shouldn't have deserved."

Wow, so formal. Wait, it's done that easy? The match hasn't even started yet and I've won? This is beyond my expectations.

Misaki heaved a sigh of relief at not having to compete under the gazes of so many people.

On the other hand, she could see Kazuto standing from a distance while showing a smirk.

Ahh, so that's the reason Kazuto came home late. I'm sure last night he fought him alone because he was worried and didn't want me to fight him.

Misaki somehow felt like watching her little brother grow up, even though the situation was reversed.

"Congratulations to Saki-chan!"

After that, Sakura cheered loudly because she felt this was the right time to heat up the atmosphere.

"Ohh! Long live to my goddess!"

"Saki-chan! We're your fans!"

"I love you Saki-chan!"

"Saki-chan please step on me!"

Ignoring the last scream, Misaki became so nervous and embarrassed at the sudden cheers of from the onlookers, and she ran away because she couldn't standing there.

And with that, all ended well.

Except for Kenta who was left in the dogeza position a few minutes longer because Misaki had left without him noticing. And Misaki, who ran away, had no idea that she was getting more and more popular at school.
