The End (Beginning) of the Dream (Nightmare)

Luna wakes up from what can only be called a weird dream. She clutches her head from the searing pain that she can't explain. But the pain was even more short lived than the wormholes she saw in her dream.

She gets up from her bed, shaking her head to ease her mind. She picks up her phone and notices a few messages from her friends.

Eve: I hope you didn't forget about the test on 'Nature of Mana' and 'Mana Waves' today.

Luna: Yeah, I remember. No problem with 'Nature of Mana', pls help me out with 'Mana Waves', I can't even remember those progressive wave equations.

Eve: Nobody will have any problem with 'Nature of Mana', that's the easiest chapter. Whatever, at least try to memorize some of the formulas. I am sending you my notes, read from there. It should be more concise and easier to understand than the textbooks.

Luna: You are a lifesaver 💋

Eve: Stop sending creepy emojis.

She puts the phone back on her bed and goes to the washroom. There she picks up her toothbrush, puts on some toothpaste and starts rubbing it vigorously against her teeth. She closes her eyes and thinks,

'Wonder what I should eat for breakfast today.'

One of the perks of living alone is that she always has the option to eat whatever she wants, although it's debatable if it's actually an advantage or a disadvantage. She decides not to think too much about it.

She washes her mouth and ties up her blonde hair in a ponytail with a black ribbon, she has fairly long hair, so her ponytail almost reaches her waist.

After satisfying her biological needs, she leaves her house in her school uniform, a white shirt, black pants, a stripped tie and a blue blazer.

'I should get something from the food store', she thinks to herself.

"One cheeseburger please!"

"Right away, miss", the shopkeeper responds casually.

"Hey Luna, did you study the notes I sent you?", she hears a very familiar voice from her back. 

It was Eve.

"When was I supposed to read it? I was busy getting ready for school."

"You were supposed to read through it while getting ready. Oh god, what am I gonna do with you."

Eve Rhodes, the beloved school idol. She has a tall slender figure with long black hair that hangs up to her waist. She has brown eyes and long eyelashes. She is also quite academic and good at sports. And with her kind personality and friendly attitude, no wonder she is so popular.

"Yeah, yeah. I am gonna read it after I am done eating."

"You could at least try to show a little more enthusiasm, you know..."

"I can only be enthusiastic about stuff I like"

"Like combat and hunting? Those are stuff for the boys to handle. We girls are the brains of society while the boys are the arms. Leave the heavy lifting to them."

'What a sexist view she has of society!!'

"I know you don't like studying, but sometimes you have to make compromises and fulfill others' expectations rather than chasing after your own dream."

'Yeah, what bullshit advice', she notices that after saying that, Eve's expression got a little darker.

"Yeah, yeah. Enough lecture. I am done eating so let's go."

"Did any of what I said get through to you?"

"Were you saying something?"

"Sigh... No it's nothing. Let's go."
