Chapter 0:

ENTRY 0 - WELCOME TO NEO TOKYO

Neo Tokyo's Empty Shells

New Ichigaya Station - 2070 CE

Can you believe it? You’ve finally arrived in Neo Tokyo, Japan’s City of the Future!

While many cities in Japan have seen drastic advances in their technologies, none have pushed forward as far as Neo Tokyo into the future.

Don’t feel ashamed to stare at this view in awe. No pictures can do this city’s beauty justice, with its skyscrapers that seem to pierce the sky like sharpened arrows, all interwoven by Sky Paths, the threads that interweave everything in this city.

All accented by its colorful glow at night, making it a beacon of possibilities for all of Japan.

Now, everybody, please gather up your loose items and follow me off this train!

This megatropolis owes its existence to the Yamo Corporation’s founder, and first CEO, Shin Kawamoto. His creation of android intelligences called Vessels helped rebuild and rework this city after the catastrophic typhoons and floods of the 2030s.

Vessels are human-like robots, their defining features being their mechanical brains that can allow for complicated thought and reasoning, increasing their efficiency in their assigned tasks.

With these Vessels, the entirety of Tokyo had evolved. The buildings grew and became more lively, their structures more artistically complex, the streets became more sleek, and the entire system of transport evolved. The city was entirely unrecognizable from what it once was, being dubbed Neo Tokyo.

So now, if you would please follow me onto the tour bus as we head out to see the sights of this wonderful city!

Something you’ll quickly notice about Neo Tokyo is the prevalence of the Yamo Corporation’s Vessels. You’ll see them cooking in restaurants, performing construction work, bartending, performing tour guides and much more! The Vessels of the Yamo Corporation originally started out as a private labor force and military resource, but due to efforts form the Yamo Corporation’s current CEO, Lana Kawamoto, Vessels have now become a public commodity.

As of right now, Tokyo is the only place where Vessels are widely sold, with the Yamo Corporation beginning to sell Vessels in the neighboring cities Saitama and Kawasaki within the past few years.

Don’t worry, if you’d like one for yourself we will be stopping by the Yamo Corporation shop of Neo Tokyo. Be ready to spend everything you have, though, as they aren’t cheap.

If you hadn’t already noticed, I’m a Tour Guide Vessel! My name is Becky and I can’t wait to show you the sights of our amazing city!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

She sits on the cushioned tour bus seat, her mind for the first time existing outside its sequences.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Why am I doing this? Spending my existence saying this same meaningless nonsense everyday. It’s not like the audience who hear it seem to care much, since half of them are covering their ears.

My body right now is standing on the metallic floor of a tour bus which exists, like me, on this planet called Earth.

In front of me are appendages, two extensions of my will on the world. They adjust to whatever I think, moving in tandem with my mind. So do the appendages below me, my connection to this Earth. If I wanted to, I could leave work early today. If I wanted to, I could leave this job and never go back.
