Chapter 1:

Late On The First Day Of School

Worship Me!

The sun was starting to get warmer, students were going to school and adults were leaving home for their work. Just like every other morning in South Delhi. But amongst all these disciplined people, there was one house where a young lady was still lost deep in her slumber, unaware of the world that has already woken up to reality.

“What a beautiful morning it is!”, said a woman to her daughter, “get up now! You don't want to be late on the first day of the new term.”

“Five more minutes”, mumbled the girl. Her words were barely decipherable.

“Get up now, Vini is waiting for you in the living room.”

“A-A-A-Arghhhhhh, Why is she so early?” groaned the little girl, still lying in her bed.

“She isn’t early, you’re late, It’s quarter to eight. You will be late if you don’t reach school in 15 minutes”

“W-whaaaat” the girl hurriedly jumped off from her bed, “You should have said that, to begin with” and ran straight to her bathroom.

With speed faster than light, the girl appeared in the living room, all dressed up in her school uniform, “Let's go Vini, Or we’ll be late.”

Vini couldn't believe her eyes at the speed with which her friend got ready just now. Whoever says girls take a long time to get ready, definitely hasn't met this girl.

“Saya, first eat your breakfast” ordered Saya’s mom, who has just appeared from behind her.

Does this family know teleportation magic? Why do they keep appearing out of thin air? Vini wondered to herself.

“No, I will eat something on the way”, rebelled the young lady not knowing that her mother is unaffected by her little rebellion.

“Sit Down, you aren’t leaving until you finish breakfast” the mother spoke with authority.

Not wanting the situation to escalate, Vini interrupted, “Saya, we still have some time, eat your breakfast quickly.”

“B-B-B-But…” Saya was trying to say something but Vini shushed her, “Stop wasting more time, Just finish it quickly.”

Realizing that she had no other option, Saya quickly picked up her bread, dipped it in the glass of milk nearby, and swallowed it down immediately, before she would have choked on it, she also gulped down the glass of milk. Within thirty seconds the entire breakfast tray was empty, a little messy but empty.

Seeing Saya devouring all that food, Vini was both amazed and disgusted at her friend.

As soon as Saya finished all her food, she grabbed Vini’s hand and stormed out of the house.

“Be careful on the road” yelled her mother from the living room.

“Don't talk to me, you didn't wake me up on time”, Saya yelled back while running forward.

“Ah… this ungrateful kid.”

“Bye-Bye auntie”, Vini replied.

“Well, at least she is with good company”, Saya’s mother wondered to herself.

“Slow down Saya, It's dangerous to run on the road.”

“Come on, pick up the pace or we will be late on our first day.”

It was a funny scene for the people passing by. Two young women running on the road from no apparent danger.

Youth and What it's like to be young, all the adults were wondering the same thing while looking at the monster girl running while her friend was flying behind her like a flag attached to its pole on a windy day.

It’s not easy to remain careful of your step when you are running that fast. And so Saya stepped on something. Something that would change her life. What did she step on?

My dog stepped on a bee.

NO that’s not correct. Saya stepped on a dog’s tail. What do you need in your life, when you are running late for school?

Answer: A dog chasing you. I mean it can be a blessing in disguise, might make you run even faster.

The new scene was even funnier, with two young women running on the road while being chased by a dog. The people passing by were amazed at this new event. Some laughed, some didn't even bother to look and went about their normal routine, while some ran behind the dog to help the little women in their plight, but their efforts were futile. These middle-aged men didn’t have the same energy as the dog who was set out to exact revenge on those who hurt his innocent beloved tail.

The middle-aged men soon got tired. They wished both the women luck and went on doing whatever they were doing before.

Talk about bad luck, Saya thought to herself. During this whole chaos, she had taken a wrong turn and now was running away from school. It was evident that the force was not with her today. Just when she thought things couldn’t have been worse, they realized that the street they were running in, is a dead end.

Not finding another exit, the two women came to an unwanted halt. They looked behind terrified. The dog had also come to a stop. He was dragging his left front paw like a bull about to charge inside a Spanish arena.

“What will we do now”, Vini panicked.

“I have an idea” Saya stood tall, believing that she could get both of them out of this predicament. She took out something from her bag’s side pocket, “Here, doggy, see this, now go fetch”, and she threw that thing towards the dog.

But the aim was so bad, the thing flew far. It passed the dog, passed the wall on the left, and fell somewhere behind that.

“That was your big idea”, Said Vini while picking up a broken tree branch from the side of the road. “Shoo— Shoo doggy”, she tried to scare the dog but that hound didn't move an inch. Poor girl.

The dog coiled its body preparing to leap on its prey. Both women stood still in front of the wall terrified.

“God save us, God save us…” prayed the girls as the last resort, but to no avail. The dog, with revenge in mind, jumped in the air towards its prey.

But all wasn’t lost. Just as the dog was about to pounce on the girls, there was a thud noise. When the girl opened their eyes after praying, the dog was lying on the ground unconscious, above him was a young boy, probably the same age as the girls and also probably hurt from his fall.

Both the girls looked confused which was not strange. Since the dawn of time, raining cats and dogs may have been a natural phenomenon, but a human was still not.

“Did this boy save us?” asked Vini.

“Seems so.”

Saya was about to check out the boy lying there but before she could do that, Vini yelled, “We are late for school. Miss Smith will eat us alive.”

“Whaaaaaa…, Let’s run” Saya was about to run when she remembered about the boy, “Wait, we can’t leave him like that”

Both the girls turned around to see if the boy was okay, but there was no boy nor any dog in the street.

Both the creatures have vanished into thin air.

“Where did he go?” asked Saya.

“Let’s think about this later, run for now.”
