Chapter 2:

Vol 1. Chapter 2: Seriously, what happened to the bag?

We are Badgers!

"Dear Diary,

I write to you my last will and testament.

LEAVE NOTHING BEHIND! DELETE EVERYTHING FROM MY PC! THROW OUT MY JOURNALS.

AND DON'T OPEN THE CLOSET!

Thank you!  ❀◕ ‿ ◕❀

Emi Watajima. "

Emi brushed her hair away from her forehead from her position on the bed; her hand holding a pencil as she scribbled in her journal. She rested on her bed; legs swishing in the air. Her hair put up into tiny pigtails on either side of her head; whatever amount could actually manage to squeeze in there that is.

I wish my hair were longer...

Orientation was over in a flash. The Principle,  Daisuke Motokan, actually showed up before things got too hectic; and the student council president received a light scolding.

Luckily, It wasn't too hard to find the dorms either. It was just a mere 5 minute walk. School Guidelines weren't too hard to understand either. Be in your dorms before 10pm and don't you dare question the Principle.

Classes would officially start tomorrow. In the meantime; It would be a good idea to prepare some rhymes.

Emi shifted her gaze over towards the uniform that hung up in the corner of her room. She sat up; a sigh leaving her lips. She was beginning to grow sore just sitting here and doing nothing but writing. Her head ached as she pulled herself out of bed.

She walked up to her uniform; standing in front of it. She tilted her head. "Daisuke Motokan..."

Her thoughts were interrupted by a rather repetitive knock tapping on her door. She inhaled and opened the door.  "Hello-?"

Arms threw themselves around her neck. The human culprit began to sob into her neck hysterically.

Kyoko Uefuji.

The gentle human she met during orientation. She apparently got in due to scholarship; and has some sort of connection with some religious spirit. She's a cleric.

"Uefuji? What brings you to my room tonight?" Emi questioned.

Kyoko sniffled; pulling away from the hug. She wiped the tears from her eyes; and looked at Emi with a seemingly pleading look. "I-I...-" She bites her bottom lip."

"Yeah?"

"I lost Nomura's bag!"

Oh yeah. Didn't that thing disappear like; half-way through the fight earlier?

Tarou Nomura.

The Halfling that kept interrupting Yamino. He's a bit of a delinquent. He even dyed his hair blonde! Though; it looks like his natural color is coming back. He's literally a fighter. I wonder if he got in trouble.

"How are you just now noticing?" Emi questioned.

"You saw where it went?" Kyoko croaked.

Where it went? Did it have legs or something?!

"Uh.. No, not exactly. I was a little too busy fighting for my life to notice." Emi deadpanned.

Kyoko sniffled. Tears bubbled up in her eyes. She was clearly devastated.

"Nomura hasn't noticed yet..."

Emi finds that hard to believe.

"I find that hard to believe."

"No no! It's true. Nomura carries half of his weapons on him anyways. He doesn't really know where his stuff is half the time." Kyoko pulled at her hair slightly. "He only really checks his bag when he needs to find a different weapon; and right now.. He's sleeping! This is the only time I'll have to find where it's at!"

".....Sounds like a you problem." Emi goes to close the door.

Kyoko's eyes glow for a brief second; a wisp of red leaving her eyes before she grasped down tightly onto the door; stopping it from closing. "Wait-wait!"

Reaction spells!

"I-I.. We may have gotten off on the wrong foot earlier; but-but you're the only other person I can come to." Kyoko whispered.

"Why don't you talk to the Principle Motokan?" Emi's question died on her lips as her eyes darted to the clock in the corner. Oh. It's 9pm. "You still have an hour."

Kyoko poked her fingers together cutely. "I-I'll pay you."

"....How much?"

"25 Gold."

Emi rubbed her chin in thought. It's not a bad idea. More money is always good!

Kyoko gave her puppy dog eyes; her hands cupped in front of her.

"I have given it some thought!" Emi placed a hand on her hip; pointing at her. "I, Emi Watajima, will accept your quest!"

Kyoko blinked before a smile broke out on her face. She threw her hands up in the air; squealing.

"Let's go then!" Kyoko took her hand. She tugged her out of the room.

Emi barely managed to catch the door handle of her room; shutting her door as she was dragged off.

"We should check out the gym first." Emi recommended. "That's where you last saw it; right?"

"Yeah. It was lost in the havoc."

One of the doors in the hall opened. A young lady with long black hair wearing her nighties stepped out.

"Where are you two headed?" She questioned as they passed.

"I left some things in her room when I was helping her move in." Emi couldnt stop the words from rolling off her tongue.

The lady shrugged and turned down the hall; her hair swishing behind her as she disappeared into the darkness. Literally. She just; poofed.

As they entered the gym, Kyoko held her hand out. A faint orangish light trickling off the palm of her hand almost like dust; illuminating the room.

"Evocation: Radiance!"

"Ooh. Nice." Emi cooed as their corner was decently lit.

"Shouldnt the door have been locked?" Kyoko questioned; touching her chin in thought.

Emi shrugged. "Depends. The goblin from earlier is still plastered to the wall." Emi jutted her finger to the left; where there was indeed a live goblin stuck to the wall.

"Help." It whimpered.

"Let's not worry about that." Emi shivered and turned away.

It seemed they hadnt bothered to clean up the mess. There was all sorts of liquids and other stray weapons just laying on the ground.

"Ooooh! Shiny!" Cried a voice.

A face emerged from the shadows; followed by a full body. As they took notice of the two students; their lips deepened into a frown. They snorted and crossed their arms; turning away.

"Hey hey hey. I am NOT! sharing any of my loot."

"It's you!" Emi shockingly pointed out.

Indeed. This was her friend from yesterday! The Weirdo.

"Oh. It's the tomboy. Hey, what's up?" He lifted his hand in a wave; beads of water falling from his fingertips; splashing out in their direction.

Kyoko's blinked as some water got into her eye. She tried to rub out the uncomfortable feeling of the foreign wetness.

"You ran off on me yesterday." Emi pouted; crossing her arms angrily.

"Do you two know eachother?" Kyoko asked; her fist still furiously rubbing her eye.

"We met briefly." He did a short bow; his hand grasping onto the soft fabric of his shirt. "My name is Hanae Sano. I'm a bit of a barbarian."

As he raised from his bow; a smile spread across his face. "I apologize for running off on you in such a hurry. I'm afraid that I do not have much experience with people."

"So, what? Are you some sort of creep?" Emi questioned; narrowing her eyes.

Hanae seemed taken back. "Why would I-?"

"You're in the middle of the Gym at-" She thinks. "9:08 PM and you're apparently afraid of people?"

"Kinda hypocritical since you're also in the middle of the gym at 9:08 PM." Hanae muttered.

Hanae shook his hands in front of him. "Oh no no. I'm just here to loot. Besides; I've given it some thought! You're a tomboy or some sort of man; or something. I'm happy to say that I'm not afrai-"

Emi looked at Kyoko. "So; Ready to look for that bag?" She cut him off.

"O-oh! You're looking for something?" Hanae asked. He took notice of Kyoko and immediately slunk away; his face paling under the light of the palm of her hand.

Heh.

"Yes. I'm looking for my dear friends bag." Kyoko said, touching her cheek in thought. "I misplaced it earlier; and it appears to have gone missing... Would you happen to have seen it?"

Hanae looked around the large room.  "What's it look like? I'll be honest. There are a LOT of bags in here."

Emi nodded in agreement.

Half-Elves have better vision in the dark. It's a racial trait. Hanae appears to be a water genasi. He must have searched this room top to bottom for loot in order to know that kind of information.

"It's big." Kyoko and Emi said simultaneously.

"It has a lot of weapons sticking out of it!" Emi snapped her fingers.

"It's got a little doggy charm on the side. I bought it for Nomura when he got his tonsils taken out!" Kyoko explained happily; quite proud of that last fact.

Hanae hummed. "Hmm..."

He reached behind him; grasping the greatsword that rested on his back. He pulled it out; curving to the side as he blocked an onslaught of daggers.

"You are not getting it back." A voice sounded out from the darkness.

"Who are you?" Kyoko questioned; waving her hand around; shining the light in different directions.

"Student Council, Kosori Akuyaku, at your service." A woman materialized in front of us. She was exceptionally pretty- wait! That's the same girl from earlier!

"I thought something was suspicious when you disappeared." Kyoko clapped her hands. "You were just being sneaky! Clever."

Akuyaku-san. Tall. Black hair pulled back into a pony tail.

"Akuyaku-san. What did you mean by "You're not getting it back?" Emi questioned.

Hanae trembled on spot. I suppose Akuyaku-san is pretty intimidating.

"That bag contained unregistered weaponry. All weapons must be registered with the Student Council. That being said-" Her eyes narrowed and she flickered away.

She popped up behind Hanae; yoinking his greatsword. She heaved a breath; just barely managing to blink away before it fell to the ground. Akuyaku rested against the greatsword; reaching into her pouch at her side and pulling out an even smaller pouch.

"Hey!" Hanae seemed offended.

"This is mine now." Akuyaku stuck her tongue out at him; before opening up the pouch and swallowing the entire sword into it.

"What kind of bag is that?" Kyoko asked.

Akuyaku closed the bag using the strings at it's side before she pocketed it again.

"It's a magical item called Bag of Holding. It can hold just about anything that it can stretch around." She answered; looking up.

"How do we go about getting the bag back? How do we register the weapons?" Kyoko asked; worry strewn across her face.

Akuyaku smirked. She stuck her tongue out at Kyoko before turning away. "You just need to submit a paper. We have them outside the office door. We're at room 305. Can't miss it."

With those parting words; she disappeared in a snap.

Hanae fell to his knees; clasping his hands. "S-she....she took my sword!" He cried out.

"Don't cry. We'll get them back." Kyoko tried to comfort him; her hand reaching out and patting his back.

Hanae turned towards her; eyes flustered with tears. "T-thank you for your comforting wor-" His words died at his lips. He inhales; eyes never leaving hers. ".....eeeeee-"

He shrieks.

Hanae quivers in fear. He brought his finger up. It was shaking. It was only after leaving the tip of the finger did the group realize that he had been pointing over their shoulders.

"Don't look." He whimpers. "If we acknowledge it, it'll- Oh, I don't know... kill us?"

Nomura and Kyoko exchange a look. Whatever is behind them, they don't want to know. They each hook an arm under Hanae's and book it. Emi followed, throwing a glance over her shoulder to eye exactly whatever it is. A scream caught in her throat. "THATS-"

A loud resounding boom echoed in the gym. As if the room wasn't already a mess, one of the walls have collapsed. The night poured in; the moon burning blue in the sky as it illuminates the party.

The four just stand there. They don't really do anything. Nobody makes a move. They just.

Stand.

"So, who do you think put a bomb on the cieling?" Nomura is the first one to chirp up.

"Is that what you were screaming at?" Kyoko shoots a questioning look at Hanae.

"No.." Hanae mummers. "It's under the wall."

"I don't think any of us can fly that high. How would they even get up there?" Nomura follows up his question with another.

"It was a face." Emi eyebrows furrow in confusion.

"An illusion maybe?" Kyoko suggests.

"Are you guys ignoring me?"

"Why would a face just be floating around?"

Conversation continued to float for awhile, general questions being thrown at eachother with Nomura being ignored.

"Well, nothing we can do until tomorrow. I'm tired." Kyoko yawned.
"My bag..."

Emi wanted nothing more than to just slip into peaceful bliss. She turns onto her stomach, face nuzzled into the crevice of the pillow. The cold side. Light flashes in from the window; groaning, she moves the blanket over her head. "No.

That light was later followed by a explosion.
She turns to lay on her back, staring up at the ceiling as a second explosion goes off. "....I'm going to kill whoever keeps doing that." She mutters with tired eyes.
