Chapter 14:

Epilogue

The Gate

A figure entered the room. It had called for her. She was sure of that. She looked around uncertainly, she didn't want to be caught. On the table in the middle of the room laid a book. The book Ron had been reading until now. Bound in soft leather and thin, it drew her to it in the dim light. She did not hesitate a moment and opened it.

Fool of Love

She has always been the prettiest in the family. And she has always been the best liar, too. She is quite gruesomely good, and if she played it right she could get away with anything. A dangerous pastime, I don't know of anyone who messed with her and is still alive. Creatures that survive contact with her become real dangers. They are distinguished by their aura and appearance. They seem innocent and inspire confidence without doing anything in return. They also look beautiful away to all who do not know their secret, regardless of their former appearance. Unfortunately, this also applies to the house you are hopefully in right now.Recognizable by an angel wing in place of touch.Termination not required but I advise great caution.

Excited, she continued to turn the pages, the angel wing on her shoulder shimmering through the gray shirt. Finally she found the page to the skull the boy had on his arm. She wrinkled her nose; he was staring stupidly at her.

When she reached the end of the page Amare started to smile. Simply escaping wasn't enough, not as long as Claudia could monitor her with the amulet. No, she had to get rid of Ron and Claudia. Completely. Now she knew how.She just had to lure the boy near the room somehow. If she kept playing innocent, that wouldn't be a problem. But she could deal with the details later.First, she had to write a letter.
