Chapter 6:

Update regarding A Saint's Guide to Dangerous Fiction

A Saint’s Guide to Reading Dangerous Fiction

Hello, everyone. For anyone that wanted any new chapters for this story, I wanted to say that I won't write any more chapters for this story. I'm also bowing out of the contest as well. Ever since I started writing this story I was bothered by one specific thing, and that was that this wasn't the version of the story I wanted to write.

Honeyfeed gave so many hints to write a web novel that you could potentially use later in the contest, and as it turned out, a few of the more popular story entries already had a fanbase to bolster their popularity. I'll accept that it was my fault for not writing an earlier version of this story to latch onto, but I think the point is moot now. I procrastinated on writing the basis for the story, and as a result I wrote a version of the story I wasn't entirely satisfied with.

Before some of the new details of the contest were released, I already had inklings of a new story I wanted to tell of a slightly older protagonist who would be the apprentice to an important character known as the Patron Saint, a supernatural character from another world who helps mold stories given to her by human characters. I loved every aspect of this world and wanted to write this story for the contest, but I had nothing but a couple of test chapters ready with only a week before the Honeyfeed contest began.

The contest categories also made things more difficult for me. I did the only thing I could, and that was to incorporate school elements into an otherwise normal fantasy story. I was somewhat proud of what I was able to create considering the circumstances, but I don't think this story was meant to be a school story. There's also only so many action elements you could incorporate into a school story.

Thank you all for showing at least some interest in this version of the story I wanted to tell. I want to do a rewrite and give you the story I wanted to originally write. Hopefully I can also give a proper illustration from an actual artist that does the story justice. By the time the contest winner is announced I should have at least a volume and change worth of content.

Hopefully I'm not the only one looking forward to it!

And good luck to anyone who's still in the contest!
