Chapter 0:

Prologue

My First Friend

How do I put it… All my life, I’ve been trash. Trash that nobody wanted. Trash that everybody says is valuable, just to then throw it away. Me, Gomi, is trash. But how did it come to be? When did my misery start? When did I become less of a human? When did I become an emotionless defective robot? Well my dear friend, if you consider me one at least, started when I was just a kid.

As a kid, I was different from most people. Not that I had any disease or something. But simply that, was enough to be a turn off from most people. I was often called very insulting words, words that cut deeper than the sharpest blade in history. Words that broke my heart as if someone dropped a vase of flowers, with each piece scattering around the world. But one day everything changed

One day, our homeroom teacher came into our class, followed by an unfamiliar face.

“ Hey class,” she said to us. “ This is Suki, a transfer student. I would appreciate that you be nice to her and be caring.” At first glance, Suki seemed like the average person in my class. Smart, beautiful, born innate potential, essentially the opposite of what I am: Someone who has a bright future.

During Lunch, I was eating lunch, lonely like usual, due to me being an infection of “ stupidity”. At first, I was lonely due to rejection by my peers, but at that point, it was by choice. I came to realise how dangerous and evil humans could be after witnessing my own parents abandoning me because I wasn’t like these superhumans. Well, It is what it is.

While eating my Sandwich, my attention was suddenly grasped by a soft voice. When I turned towards the direction of the voice, I was greeted with a “hello” coming from none other than Suki.

“ How are you?” she asked

“ Nothing much , just enjoying my sandwich

Oh, Interesting. Do you usually sit alone like this ?

Yeah.

Do you have any friends”

The moment she uttered those, I stopped for a second. Why would someone care if I had a friend or not, wouldn’t people just forget my existence to begin with, I said to myself.

“ You know what,” continued Suki, “I will be your friend.”

From that day onwards, my life had forever changed.

My First Friend
