Chapter 14:

[2077] Return/agreement

Apaimanee 2086

July 2077. A few days later.

Malee walked along the corridor, leading Apaimanee, Chan, and Su to Huren’s office. She stopped in front of a locked door. A few seconds later, the door opened, and she led the group inside.

“What brings you to my office, Malee?” The owner of the room spoke. He was dressed in suit and tie. Apaimanee recognized him immediately, but he took a few seconds to process. “You managed to find Butterfly’s dog. I almost did not recognize him.”

“Yeah, the difference in skin tone between his prosthetic limbs and the rest of his body bugs the hell out him, boss man.” Chan chuckled under his breath. Huren ignored him.

“What do you want from me?”

“I need to see Madame Butterfly.” Apaimanee spoke.

“For what?” Huren sighed, setting his stylus down. “You’re here to kill her.”

Silence fell, and the air was suffocating.

“Madame Butterfly was his mentor and one of your best, boss man. She almost got me killed. I thought you’d trust her more.” Chan furrowed his brows.

“I did not ask you, so keep your mouth shut.” Then, the boss gestured to Malee. “What’s the meaning of this?”

“I adopted Madame’s son. I have to confirm that she will not pose a threat to me.”

Huren sighed and massaged his temples.

“You adopted someone’s kid without consulting me.”

“I assume you know the nature of our marriage, Huren. Allow me to have my freedom while I still can.”

“Alright, Malee. I have no objections, but don’t demand parental responsibilities from me. If it were a dog, I’d happily help you walk it, but Butterfly’s child? No.” He shook his head. “I assume you want me to order Butterfly to stay away from you?”

“Yes. That makes life easier for all of us. And, do not tell her what we talked about today.”

“Consider it done.”

The visitors left the office. Malee stopped Apaimanee in front of the elevator.

“You are planning on killing her.”

The man did not answer.

“You are no match for her.”

“I know that much.”

“Are you sure you will get your life back by killing her?”

“It’s not about that.”

“It is.” Malee sighed. “Well, that is your personal issue to deal with. I did my part, so whatever you do from now, please keep in mind that it reflects upon me as well.”

“I will.”

Apaimanee stayed in Malee’s seaside resident with his older son. Chan came by often to train them both.

Apaimanee vowed to push himself to the limit. He joined her on missions, so he knew she was a natural born fighter while he was not. He had to use everything he got to surpass her, and he will surpass her. Only then would he be able to continue living.
