Chapter 11:

Chapter 11

Killing demon as a deity

In this situation Kira should have been wary or even a little scared but instead he was glaring it down with sharp eyes; they were the eyes of a predator stalking at its prey.

He had an eerie darkness about him, not to mention that his black flames came off slightly demonic itself. All-in-all the dynamic had completely reversed where the demon was cowering away while Kira seemed to be hunting it. The demon took two nervous steps backwards before falling down onto all fours.

Kira's claw was about to grip onto the bear, only a breath away when it was knocked back by a burst of pressure in the air.

His hand had been impaled by an arrow made of wind, which left a bloodied hole in the centre of his palm. The arrow was made of concentrated wind that swirled into a thin stick with an arrow head at the end; all made of wind. After a brief moment the winds current slowed down to the point where the arrow disappeared entirely.

“Aargh!”

Kira screamed like a wounded animal but due to the sudden shock he was snapped out of his enraged state. The flames centered around his arm burnt out and seized to appear.

He noticed a man standing above the hill close by, staring down at them with deprecated eyes. He was blonde and wore similar clothing to the girl Kira had ‘rescued’, except his clothes were less flashy than hers and combat themed.

He was carrying a large wooden bow painted in strange white markings but what was stranger was that he had no arrows. He simply held the bow at bay and looked down on Kira from the vantage point atop the hill.

‘Where did that arrow come from- I know I didn’t imagine that?!’ Kira wondered as he stared out at the man.

The attention was quickly brought back to the bear as it stomped down on the ground to push itself away.

Even though it was much larger than a regular sized bear, it moved quicker than any animal Kira had seen before. Between every motion the bears muscles and definition bulged showing just how great a force it carried.

The demon was using that moment to escape, running as fast as it could towards an opening. The hills were positioned beside a small valley that took routes to all the different forests and biomes in the area, if it escaped through there it would be near impossible to catch up.

“I won’t let you escape!”

Kira dashed forward and was closing in on the demons trail when suddenly arrows made of fire rained down on his path. Each one landed perfectly in line of where he wanted to move next, completely hindering all his movements.

‘I could rush through them, no I shouldn’t take hits on purpose. Damn I’m completely stuck!’

The arrows created a wall of fire which trapped him in place, between the flames he was able to watch the bear run off out of sight.

A deep rage seared from within, Kira was furious at the bow guy on the hill. At this point he had already started imagining the different ways he would pound his face into the ground.

“Excellent marksmanship, as usual Kyosuke.”

A man dressed in long robes styled in the same blue and white theme as the others walked towards the wall of fire around Kira.

He had short white hair and bright yellow eyes that stared at him deeply. His subtle smirk was pissing Kira off; it gave off the intention that Kira was caught and that it was no effort at all.

“What are you waiting for, bind him.”

The mysterious man had dropped his celebratory smile to yell those words; his voice was deep which empowered the sincerity of his question.

Kira was puzzled, he had no idea what the man was talking about. Who should he have binded?

“Arisa is there a problem?”

The girl that Kira had tried to save looked nervously at the man as he turned his attention to her. She hadn’t decided on whether to listen to his words or not, she was stuck in a limbo between decisions.

“You…you were in on this whole thing?” Kira asked angrily.

“Ugh I suppose you were too green then after all… Kyosuke.”

With a single flick of his wrist, the man in robes signalled to the archer to let an arrow fly at Kira. The arrow was caught with ease It, not because the arrow was traveling slowly, Kira just simply had faster reflexes.

Kira gripped the shaft of the arrow tightly and snapped it, which accidently released a surge of sparks around his hand. He noticed the sparks and moved to throw it away but was caught in the trap before it could leave his hand.

A burst of lightning shot down from the sky and stopped him cold in his tracks. In under a second a tower of coursing blue lightning struck down on him and vanished all together.

Smoke emitted from his crisped body as he fell forward, stumbling in a jagged fashion on the blackened ground.

“Oh ho~ I’m surprised he can still stand after that, even for a demon like him that was impressive…” The man commented.

He had never seen someone take a blow from that attack and still remain conscious; usually that would be their finishing move or to at least ensure a complete incapacitation. Nobody was more surprised by that than Kyosuke himself, this was a first for him and left an uneasy feeling in his stomach. Fear.

Kira and Kyosuke’s eyes locked as he slowly stumbled towards him with his clothes blackened. He looked at Kira's face and noticed the dark lifeless eyes staring back at him and stumbled backwards without realising it.

Eventually Kira lost the strength to remains standing and just collapsed to the ground, completely out of it. He wasn’t dead but he was definitely out of commission for the time being.

Kira opened his eyes to the sound of eerie drums being beaten in harmony and the coldly lit room with single blue flamed torches along the walls.

‘Where am I…did I- ow my body hurts…’

Kira shook his head around trying to take in everything he can from the area he was in. He was awake but not entirely, similar to that feeling of being woken up suddenly and having to participate in a complicated conversation.

His vision along with most of his other senses were all fuzzy, seeing as he had been struck with lightning of that calibre it was incredible he was able to move at all.

‘Dark…cold…am I outside…no…definitely inside- but where?’

Kira slowly but surely began to gain his full vision and discovered that he was being chained up in the centre of a large room. He had been stripped of all his belonging and weapon and was left in only the trousers he had on before.

From the shape of the glass roof he was unsure where or what was happening around him, he had never seen a room of this design before.

Statues of men in robes with strange artefacts in their hands; angels painted along the ceiling; stained glass all around him and even above his head, all of this was foreign to him.

The one thing that he did know was people, there rows of them beside him beating at small drums without looking up. Each of them was enthralled with what they were doing, as if it were their sole purpose in life.

Standing proudly on the steps ahead of him was the same man that appeared before Kira, when he had lost consciousness. It was the man in robes, however now he had completely different robes on. They were pure white and somehow even more grandiose than his other outfit, the crown on his head was the tipping point though.

A ivory white crown made of diamonds which sat firmly on his head, its colour was flashy enough but the elegant shape of each of its three points were screaming seniority.

Something between his arrogant smile and his lordly clothes made Kira writhe in anger. The man greeted Kira with a slight wave.

‘Don’t look down on me you bastard, I’ll kill you!!’ he screamed internally.

“Where am I?” Kira asked with an annoyed tone.

“Understandably you have never stepped foot in a church before have you, what a shame for a creature like you to be born at all. However questions come later, for now…”

The man in robes displayed another half-hearted flick of the wrist to signal one of the men standing by the door. The two large cathedral doors began to creek open, grabbing Kira’s attention.

A figure began to appear from between the opening doors.
