Chapter 16:

Festival

Maid School

“Hello fellow schoolmates, thank you all for coming to this year's summer festival! I am so excited to be your host today and check out all the activities. As you might know, we almost had to skip the festival this year if it wasn’t for all the sleepless nights you all put into the preparations. Let’s have an applause for yourself!

“Sleepless nights? Don’t forget about the maid robot bribe”

A sarcastic Mona whispered to her friends.

After the applause, Maika introduced the school band and choir on stage to perform the school’s anthem. All the girls sang along… some more seriously than others. After the performance was done, Ti preached to Mona about the way she was singing the anthem.

“Mona, you know it isn’t respectful to mock the school anthem!”

“I know, but it is certainly more fun this way. That song is a drag…”

Said Mona with a cheerful wink. This made Ti chuckle a little.

“Alright Mona, I can disagree with that”

The classroom

For the festival, the girls turned their classroom into a character cafe. They couldn’t do a maid cafe since that would just be like an ordinary school day. Since they didn’t really have the time to find or create matching costumes, they decided to all dress up as their favorite character with some clothes they had already laying around. Their guest will be served by a pirate Mona, baker Nia, idol Ti, and goth Serena.

“Ar how can I help ye mate? A cup o’ coffee? I will get it fer ye”

When Mona walked back to the customer carrying a tray with a cup of coffee on it, she suddenly heard a scream coming from behind.

“Look out Mona!”

Mona looked at the ground and saw a broom laying on the ground. She almost tripped and spilled the coffee. Mona turned around, and to her big surprise, it was Serena who warned her.

“Thank ye fer savin' me, Rena-chan”

Mona served the coffee, together with one of Nia’s freshly baked cookies to the customer. Mission succeeded.

“That outfit looks good on ye Ti-chan”

“You really think so? Thank you”

Ti looked really happy, after going to the festival many times as a child Ti finally got to experience it as a student. After all the setbacks they experienced, it all turned out alright in the end.

“Ti-chan? Is that you? What a beautiful dress you have there”

“Grandma! Thank you for coming here, please take a seat”

Ti pointed at an empty table and served her grandma a drink.

“It looks like you found your home her Ti. What wonderful friends you made. Give grandpa my regards when you see him, he must be having his hands full today”

“Was that your grandma Ti? She seems like an okay lady”

“Thank you, Nia, she is really sweet. Is any of your family coming today?”

Nia started looking kind of sad.

“I am sorry for asking, Nia…”

“Well, it’s not like I need them to be here to have a fun day or something”

Nia took a deep breath.

“With such short notice, they couldn’t fit it in their agenda”

Ti could really hear the disappointment in Nia’s voice.

“What if I take a photo of you with your phone so you can send it to your parents.”

Nia gave Ti her phone and Ti made a picture of Nia baking a new batch of cookies.

A little later, Rose came walking through the door, followed by someone they wouldn’t have expected to come, Ei.

“Okay, cousin, this is Mona’s classroom, I have to go back so Maika doesn’t get angry with me for slacking.”

“Miss Ei? I didn’t expect to see you here”

“Well, I paid a lot of money for this festival so I better try to get something out of it right?”

“Don’t worry, you will be seeing me a lot more around here after the summer break. The headmaster hired me to restart the robotics club to get more girls interested in technology. They try to lure more girls into this establishment or something.”

Getting to work on robots together with one of the most famous engineers in the country? Mona felt really excited by that idea, but on the other hand, isn’t Mrs. X the villain of Mona’s little adventure? Maybe this is will be one of these stories where the evil guy becomes good and join the hero’s party.

“I could feel nothing but excitement about that”

“Alright, it seems like you get it. Can you get me some tea pirate girl?”

Mona was so caught of guard that she totally forgot her pirate character!

“Alright miss, let me get ye some tea”

Ti’s dorm room

At the end of the festival day, Ti invited all the girls to her room for the first time to have a little afterparty. She brought a bottle of alcohol-free bubbles to her room to celebrate the successful festival.

“Ehh Ti, isn’t popping a bubbles bottles against the school rules?”

“It is? Well… oops”

Ti popped the bottle anyway and poured all the girls a glass.

“Let’s toast on a successful festival”

“Cheers!!!”

After all the girls had drank their glass, Ti opened the door of her TV cabinet to show something to Mona.

“Wait, is that the GameSphere V special edition black? Isn’t that one supposed to come out next month?”

“Hehe, my grandpa knows someone at the company… want to try it out”

The girls played games for the rest of the night.

“Do any of you have plans for the summer vacation?” Ti asked.

Vacation? Mona hadn’t thought a minute about that.

“I guess not, you might not believe me, but I’ve actually been really busy the last while”

“What about going on a camping trip together? I am sure we can have a nice adventure there, tracking down bigfoot or some other monster, right Mona?”

“Adventure… I am done with those for a while... I’ll be in for a relaxing trip through”

“Well… if you really need a place to camp, we could maybe go to my parent's hunting estate.”

“Hunting?? Isn’t that dangerous” asks Ti.

“It’s not like we're going to get shot or something!”

“Ahh right, let’s do it!”
