Chapter 7:

Glasses

Can you be a Harem story Protagonist without a Harem...?

Still, I looked the beast dead in the eyes. I was ready to fight it right now and there.

At least that's what I thought.

I swinged my sword and hit the bear.

The damage it dealt was like nothing. Health bar didn't even flinch. Have I even dealt any damage at all?

Beast just stood there unmoved. Then it took a big swing with its arm. A lot quicker than I expected. I thought I would receive the most hurtful hit since I started living here. But then a lot of small flames hit the bear's face. It hasn't dealt a lot of damage too, but you could see the health bar move just a little.

I turned around. Rio was standing with her hands in front of her.

"Did you do that?"

I asked.

"Yes, I'm still learning so that is one of the best spells I could use…"

"...If I could just form a fireball it could deal a lot more damage. But it always splits into these little flames."

She told.

I haven't read a lot about magic so I still don't know how it works at all.

Still, she saved my life. Or at least a lot of health so…

"Thanks!"

"No problem."

I took a few steps back.

"Do any of you have something up your sleeve, which could possibly help."

"I know a little bit of ice and air magic."

Maria spoke up.

"That's awesome. Can you cast any offensive spells?"

"Some of them may be used as an attack, but manipulating the air movement would be useless right now I guess. And the only ice magic I know requires water."

"I can make water."

Lucy said.

We looked at her.

"Well, maybe not make, but like…suck it up from the ground… I don't know how to describe it. I learned how to do it to help my grandma with vegetables some time ago."

I think I have a plan.

We could just stop it from moving with ice, and then deal constant damage to kill it. It will take some time but it's the only thing I can think of right now.

"How much would you need to freeze his legs to the ground?"

I asked Maria.

"Something around a cup of water should be enough."

"It will take me some time."

Lucy said.

"Don't worry. We'll buy you time."

So… I said that but I don't know how we could possibly keep this beast away from them.

I started looking around.

Lucy and Maria obviously can't help us now.

Pin… yeah, I don't think so.

Then I noticed that Lia is carrying a bow on her back. How haven't I seen this earlier?

Maybe that's it.

"Lia, try shooting some arrows at him."

She took the bow and an arrow off her back, stood sideways, aimed and pulled the string.

Shot.

And then something none of us expected happened.

Well actually nothing happened.

The arrow bounced off the bear's skin like a toothpick.

"Ehehe…"

I don't think that 'ehehe' is the best reaction, considering the situation we're in.

But I know it's not her fault. This bear is just way too powerful for us.

Maybe we should run away?

But I want to give a chance to Maria's ice magic. I think it could work.

We need to keep him away just for a little longer.

"Can you shoot some more of these flames, Rio?"

"Sure."

It didn't bother him at all. And again, the health bar nearly didn't move.

I ran out of ideas.

"Ready!"

Lucy yelled.

She was 'holding' a levitating bubble of water above her hands. It looked quite beautiful but it's not time to get excited right now.

"Step away master!"

I jumped out of the way and soon a lot of freezing mid-air water flew past me.

It splashed under bears feet and started growing into randomly shaped formations.

It worked. The beast now stood there, with its legs trapped in ice and unable to move.

It's a perfect opportunity.

I optimistically rushed at it with my weak ass sword.

And guess what. Bear shattered the ice.

I haven't even attacked and it already broke free from our trap.

It swung its arm at me again. I was sure I'm done now. My sword wouldn't stop him.

But I heard some rustling in the bush and then a tall, black haired woman jumped out of there and ran towards me.

She held a sword in her right hand. While running past me, she caught me with her second arm and cut through the bear's stomach at the same time.

She put me on the ground nearby and looked at the beast through her glasses. I looked too.

Its health dropped nearly by a third part of it.

My jaw dropped.

Our attacks haven't dealt any damage at all, but just one of hers did this much. Just how powerful is she? Should we be even more scared now?

Maybe she is the one who killed this bear twice before.

She threw her sword at the bear and started running towards him, then did a weird move with her hands, and suddenly two soil pillars raised from the ground, one slightly higher from another.

Meanwhile the sword already hit the bear right in his head, which brought his health down to around 20%.

She jumped up from the second pillar, high above the bear's head. It looked up to see her. Then she landed with both her feet right on the top of the sword, splitting the bear's head in half.

It disappeared and items started dropping on the ground.

A lot of very valuable things, but the person who defeated the beast walked past them as if they were nothing.

I looked at girls. They were as surprised as I was.

Girl in glasses approached us.

"You sure are lucky I was here, otherwise all of you would be dead."

We just looked at her. Nothing more.

"My name is…"
