Chapter 12:

My Future?

The School Life of Tanahashi

Yuuki asked, "Who's gonna come for you, Shin?"

I replied, "My guardian but I don't know if he'll come. He might be busy from work."

Yuuki responded, "Oh, I see."

Itsuki asked, "What's his job?"

I answered, "He's a doctor."

Nise acknowledged, "Wow, that's pretty impressive!"

Today is the Parent-Teacher Orientation.

The purpose of the orientation is to talk about the student's future with their parents and the teacher. Some students prefer to go to university, while others don't. They will also talk about if the student is fitted at that university, as well it's dream profession.

Miu received a message on her phone and opened, "Oh, my mother is here. I'll be back for a bit, I'm just going to get her."

Sakura followed, "My guardian is also here, I'll be back soon."

Sakura and both Miu left the classroom.

Itsuki followed, "I'll go downstairs. I'll wait for my mother there."

Yuuki replied, "Take care."

Itsuki left the classroom and went downstairs to wait for his mother.

Miu and her mother entered the room where the orientation was held and greeted each other before discussing Miu's future.

The teacher spoke, "According to Miu-san's future plans, she wouldn't be going to any university and will resume her work after high school."

Miu replied, "I mean, I'm going to be fine if I'm not going to college."

The teacher followed, "Your right. You're doing great on your career and you pretty much are the main core of your agency."

Miu's mother asked, "How's her grade, Sensei?"

The teacher answered, "It shouldn't be a concern. Even if she chooses to go to college after high school, I'm positive that your daughter can make it."

Miu's mother replied, "Okay, thank you for your time, Sensei."

Miu and her mother left the room and Sakura and her guardian entered.

The teacher spoke, "Sakura-san wants to aim for a scholarship in a top university in Tokyo, and her second choice is going to a community college, also aiming for a scholarship."

Sakura's guardian asked, "Can her grades aim for a scholarship?"

The teacher replied, "Her grades are a bit higher than the average and very well, she could just continue that, but, I suggest that she aims for a much higher grade if she wants to go to a top university in Tokyo."

Sakura's guardian acknowledges, "I see. Thank you for informing me."

The teacher greets back, "No problem. Thank you, also."

Sakura and her guardian left the room.

Nise spoke, "My mom is here! I'll go now."

Yuuki followed, "Oh, mine too. What about you, Shin?"

I replied, "I'll wait for a—"

Then, my phone rang and I checked it, it was Dr. Miruno. I answered and he said, "I'm already downstairs. I'll meet you here." I replied, "Okay, I'll be there in a minute," and turned the phone down.

The three of us went downstairs, and we saw Itsuki and his mother about to go upstairs. Itsuki's mother greeted us and we greeted her back and we went on our way.

Nise and Yuuki quickly approached their parents while I waited for a couple of minutes and he finally arrived.

Dr, Minoru explained, "Sorry, there was a bit of traffic there."

I replied, "It's fine."

Nise and Yuuki went to us. Nise asked, "Is he your guardian, Shin?"

I replied, "Yeah, he is."

Dr. Minoru introduces himself to them, "I'm Toshiaki Minoru but everyone calls me Dr. Minoru."

Yuuki also introduced, "I'm Yuuki Uchida, and right here is Nise Suzuki."

Nise bowed, "Nice to meet you, Dr. Minoru."

Dr. Minoru returned the greeting, "Nice to meet you too. Thanks for taking care of Tanahashi."

I requested, "We should be all going upstairs now."

Yuuki agreed, "Yeah, let's go now."

Yuuki, Nise, and I went upstairs together, alongside their parents and my guardian.

Itsuki and his mother entered the room where the orientation was held.

The teacher said, "Mrs. Daisuke, your son wants to go to a university around the Tokyo area but it's written here that he wants to be a coach or a sports analyst."

Itsuki's mother asked, "Is there a problem with it, Sensei?"

The teacher replied, "I don't think so. We understand his situation and I think he will be a great fit for it but, as his teacher, I think he needs to gain experience from coaching. In terms of being an analyst, I think he is capable to do it."

A bit later, Itsuki and his mother left the room and it was Nise's turn.

The teacher said, "According to his plans, he wants to be a designer at an art university around Tokyo. With his grades, there are no problems with it but, during entrance exams, be ready because entrance exams in those universities are a bit odd."

Nise's mother asked, "What do you mean, Sensei?"

The teacher answered, "They want students to do different stuff such as painting or even pottery. I think they are testing the creativity and the craftsmanship of the student."

Nise replied, "I'll be ready for that."

The teacher replied, "Well, you have more time than before, so I think there's no problem as long as he enhances his skills."

Nise's mother thanked, "I see. Thank you, Sensei."

They left and Yuuki and her mother entered.

The teacher said, "Your daughter wants to go to a university in the Tokyo area. In terms of the profession she wants, it says it's still undecided. Why is that, Yuuki-san?"

Yuuki replied, "I'm still thinking it through on what profession I wanted and it's not been easy to pick one."

The teacher suggested, "Well, you still have time to think about it but I suggest that you should be thinking about it now. I know you have responsibilities such as being the class representative and sometimes, you help the student council, but, you have entrance exams next year. I hope you can make a decision by that time."

Yuuki replied, "I understand."

Yuuki's mother asked, "How are her grades, Sensei?"

The teacher answered, "She's at the top of the class, so it won't be a problem for her."

Yuuki's mother replied, "I understand. Thank you, Sensei."

Yuuki and her mother left, and I entered the room with Dr. Minoru.

The teacher asked, "For Tanahashi-Kun, you haven't submitted the paper at all."

I replied, "I'm sorry, Sensei."

Dr. Minoru spoke, "That's bad, Tanahashi."

The teacher followed, "It's fine. I understand his situation. Do you mind asking about it?"

I replied, "I'm fine, so far."

Dr. Minoru followed, "As long as he takes care of himself, he is pretty much fine but he has only a slim chance of it."

The teacher responded, "I see. Take care, Tanahashi-Kun."

I replied, "Thanks, Sensei," as we left the room.

Dr. Minoru spoke, "You know, Tanahashi, it's not bad to dream."

I asked, "What are you talking about, Dr. Minoru?"

He replied, "I mean, I know what the future holds for you but think about it, just what if a miracle happens to you."

I responded, "If there's a miracle, it should have happened already. Sorry, Dr.Minoru, but, I don't believe in miracles at all."

Dr. Minoru replied, "I see. I'll be going back to the hospital. Take care, Tanahashi."

I answered, "I will. See you later."

And he left me while I meet up with the others.

Miu asked, "What are you going to do guys?"

Sakura didn't understand what she meant, "Can you clarify it, Miu?"

Miu clarified, "I mean, in the future. College stuff."

Sakura replied, "I'm aiming for a scholarship at a university."

Nise followed, "I'm aiming for an art university. I want to be a designer."

Itsuki went after, "A university in Tokyo. I'm still undecided between being a coach or an analyst."

Yuuki followed, "I haven't decided on what profession I want but I'll be going to a university after college."

Miu asked, "What about you, Shin?"

I replied, "Oh, I'll be doing the same too. I'm also undecided."

That's a lie.

I'm not undecided.

Because fate has already decided my future.
