Chapter 19:

Work Together Or Don't Work At All

PSW AU: The Amazon's Dream

"So you understand all the terms of the agreement?" Gamal asked.

“Yes, Ma’am,” Suzanna replied, finally feeling comfortable.

“Very well then. Sign here. Initials here, here and here,”

Suzanna did as instructed and handed it to her. They both stood up, with the older woman extending her hand,

“Congratulations, Ms Lee’aja. You have been given an incredible opportunity. I trust you’ll make the most of it,”

Suzanna excitedly grabbed Gamal’s hands with both of hers and shook them, “Thank you, Ma’am! I promise I won’t let you down,”

Cracking and popping sounds were heard. Suzanna let go of Gamal’s hand in horror upon realising that she had broken her hand, and dislocated her fingers and shoulder. Gamal’s arm fell limply to the side Suzanna was seconds away from curling up and dying.

Gamal simply shook her head and rolled her eyes. She popped her shoulder back into place then raised her broken hand. Suzanna watched every joint and bone in the hand reset one by one. Gamal formed a fist and then began rotating her wrist. She then opened her hand and wiggled her fingers,

“I’ve already found the perfect mentor for you,” She said with unsettling nonchalance, “Someone with enough strength and skill to train you without risk of injury,”

“Oh… okay,” Suzanna said visibly shaken, “W-Who is it?”

Gamal pointed at the door with her previously broken hand, “Open the door,”

Suzanna walked over to the door and opened it to see Simon who had just made it. Her eyes were suddenly bigger than her head.

(No! NO! NONONONONONOOO!!!)

She quickly shut the door and turned around with her hands clasped together,

“Mrs Gamal, please! Th-there has to be someone else,”

“No one who is available,” Gamal calmly stated, “Simon, come inside, please,”

He opened the door and walked in, Suzanna moved to the wall and avoided his gaze. He tried to ignore her,

“You wanted to see me?”

“Indeed,” She clapped her hands together in excitement, before gesturing towards Suzanna who was trying to melt into the wall, “I’d like you to train Ms Lee’aja during her probationary period,”

He stared blankly at Gamal for a few seconds, then slowly looked at the fearful Suzanna, then back at Gamal,

“Absolutely not,” He lowered his head and leaned forward slightly, "Respectfully,"

Suzanna breathed another sigh of relief,

Gamal placed a finger to her lips, “Hmm. I seem to have given you the impression that you have a choice. My apologies,” Her eyes became deathly serious, “You’re training Suzanna,”

He narrowed his own, “And if I refuse again, respectfully?”

She relaxed and spoke plainly, “Then neither one of you has a place at PSW,”

“WHAT?!” Suzanna exclaimed, moving away from the wall.

“Are you serious?” Simon asked in apparent disbelief.

“Absolutely,” Gamal said with her hands behind her back, “You’re contract is coming to an end soon and you haven’t done anything of actual value in months. I don’t care that you rub people the wrong way, I care about results and passion for the business,” She tilted her head and slowly widened her eyes, “The latter of which I’m not sure you actually have,”

His eyes lit up, but he did not respond. Suzanna walked over and spoke up again,

“B-but, wait, why would you fire me?

Gamal looked her in the eyes and raised her right hand. The hand undid the process of repair and returned to its previously broken state. Simon looked at Suzanna in bewilderment, which made her back away again,

“I-I-It was an accident!”

“The choice is simple,” Gamal said, quickly repairing her hand once again, “Work together or don’t work at all,”

He glared at her, but before he could speak, Suzanna firmly grabbed him by the arm,

“Please!” She begged, her eyes shaky and wet. His heart rate spiked as it did during the tryout. He stared at her in stunned silence. She continued her plea,

"I need this. I really really need this!"

He continued staring for a moment, his heart thumping in his ears. All he could do was nod.

Suzanna was overjoyed and hugged him without thinking,

"Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!"

His eyes went wide and his heart was somehow beating even faster. He slowly wrapped his arms around her waist. She blushed in the realisation of their sudden intimacy and the position of his hands,

"U-um… "

Without warning, he bridged backwards and threw her into the wall behind him with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex.

Gamal watched the big girl smack into the wall back-first and slide down onto her head before the rest of her body fell. She had left an imprint in the shape of her body on the wall.

"Ouch…" She groaned, lying face down on the floor.

He quickly got to his feet and dusted himself off,

"Fine, I'll do it," He glared again, his eyes sank until only his glowing irises were visible, "But I don't want anyone whining about my methods,"

Gamal was still staring at the wall. The cracks in it were slowly spreading. He sighed,

“And I’ll pay for the repairs,”

She snapped out of her trance and cleared her throat, "Yes, of course. That goes without saying,"

She was actually surprised by his restraint.

The door to the office came flying open with Daniel running in,

“Gamal, are you-” He saw the wall and Suzanna lying on the ground, then he looked at Simon. Finally, he looked at Gamal before leaving and closing the door.

"Suzanna, I believe your gear should be ready. Go and meet with the coaches. Simon and I still have much to discuss,"

"Yes, Ma'am…" She forced herself off the ground and left while rubbing her sore back and head.

He watched her leave and had to fight the urge to rub his chest.

(What was that? Why does my heart feel like it's trying to leave my chest when she…)

He frowned.

(What the hell is Gamal thinking? All those cuts and concussions must have caught up with her.)

Gamal was checking through her contacts and tapped on the name: Sanka Williams.

The sound of the phone ringing got his attention,

"Who are you calling?"

"The only person with any faith left in you," She plainly stated, before putting the phone to her ear,

"Good afternoon, Sir. Yes, he's agreed to take on the responsibility. Yes, I have him right here,"

She handed the phone to him. He gingerly took it from her and put it to his own ear,

"Hello?"

"Afternoon Simon. Ow are you?" Asked Mr Williams, owner and CEO of Psycho Style Wrestling.
