Chapter 17:

Dissolving Alliance

Blade: Belonging

Finding Takeo wandering around the streets was a surprise. After being gone for nearly an entire day since we got kidnapped, I was extremely surprised to see him safe. Though he did end up passing out on the street. I wonder what happened to him during the time he was gone.

It has been a few hours since I found Takeo. He’s been asleep since. The moment I saw him, I began calling out his name and running toward him. Before I could make it, he was already on the ground. I was terrified something horrible had happened to him, but he was unharmed, on the outside at least.

Instantly took him to Akko to check on him. She checked over him and came to the conclusion that he was just drained out. His mana was almost gone. What the hell did this idiot go through?

After sitting for hours beside Takeo, he still wasn’t waking up. I have grown far too attached to this man. I really can’t believe myself, when he wakes up, we will have to go our own ways, away from each other. As much as I hate to think of it, being around him has done no good for me. Only caused distractions, lead to the shameful events; I will never forget the embarrassment of getting forced to wear a dress like that and be sold off like a toy doll.

I can only imagine what Takeo has been through, however, this isn’t my problem. He has made plenty of friends, he doesn’t need me anymore. I don’t need anyone anyway. I can do it myself. I have to do it myself. No one can be trusted.

Hours had passed and finally, Takeo gave a sign of life.

“Takeo! You’re finally awake.” I called out

He didn’t reply; probably still trying to recover. I will give him a few minutes.

“Takeo?” I asked to see if he knew who he even was.

“Y-yes?”

“Are you alright?”

“I think so. Not sure.”

“Can you see me?”

“Partly… everything is still blurry for me. This is you, Kato, right?”

“Yeah, it is. Glad you know that much.”

“Where am I? What happened?”

“You’re at the infirmary. As to what happened, I should be the one asking you that.”

“I don't know… I arrived back in the city and after that everything was turning blank.”

“The nurse said you were exhausted and drained out of mana. Does that ring any bells?”

“Ah… I ran most of the way to get here… I was locked in an anti mana cell most of the day… I guess that was part of the issue.”

“Hmm, that does make sense. Good to see you’re safe now.”

“Thank you, Kato.”

I really don’t want to do this but I have no choice…

“Takeo, we will no longer be friends.”

“What?” He asked while staring at me.

“I have stuff I need to do and I have to do it on my own.”

“But why does involve us not being friends?”

“I don’t want to be attached to anyone. This is why I joined the military, away from my family.”

“I see…”

“I will be taking my leave, recover quick, Takeo.”

Not giving Takeo a chance to say anything else I left the infirmary. I let Akko know that he was awake and to go check on him. Now, I am finally free of everyone once again. No more idiotic men preventing me from doing what I need to do.

The only thing I have still yet to figure out is what happened to that general who gave us the night patrol job. After I returned to the camp I spent time asking around but no one knew who this general was. The kidnappers must have planned this for a while unless there was more to it than just the kidnappers. Surely kidnappers wouldn’t go that far just for a minor job.

I will figure out what idiots planned that out later, I need to go train for now.
